00:51Thank you very much.
01:21Japan, U.S. commands and control freedom and expansion of arms.
投資をすることによって、ニツベスと continue closely working together between Japan and the U.S.
02:16for the steady implement of the community with Secretary Hexas by any means at any possible opportunity.
02:24As the minister and I discussed today, the security situation around Japan and in the region remains, as he said, and we agree, severe.
02:31The threats we face are real and they are urgent.
02:37China's unprecedented military build-up and its aggressive military actions speak for themselves.
02:47There is no way to replace hard power.
02:51And to that end, I was glad to see, alongside President Trump, Prime Minister Takeichi,
02:57the commitment to increase Japan's defense spending, which is wonderful.
03:02It's an important step forward and one that we hope would be implemented and believe will be as soon as possible.
03:09Make no mistake about it.
03:16Our alliance is critical to deterring Chinese military aggression,
03:22to responding to regional contingencies and keeping our countries safe.
03:26Shoulder to shoulder with Japan, we look forward to continuing to strengthen our alliance.
03:31We will act practically, strongly, and with common sense.
03:38But there were certainly no demands placed on Japan from the United States.
03:50There was an honest conversation about both of our unwavering commitment.
03:56The recognition that there's urgency, that there's a need for speed,
04:00there's a need to invest both in our own militaries but then in our capabilities together,
04:05to train together, to exercise together, to work together.
04:08So we have nothing but the utmost respect for the minister and the prime minister's investment
04:13in the Japanese military and the pace at which they undertake it.
04:17Thank you very much.
04:19With that, I will conclude the joint press conference.
