00:00Vamos ver o que vai nos derrubar muito, muito, muito rápido.
00:02A Hyundai Safety Car, 2x2 Formation.
00:05All set then for round number 9
00:06of the Funke Club Endurance Championship 2025.
00:09Standby, this is going to be action aplenty
00:12from start to finish.
00:13They don't call it a 1-hour sprint,
00:14but nothing will be pretty intense.
00:16Ubi at the back, the front one is all set to go at the front.
00:18Watch for the red lights at the top of the screen
00:20because when they go out on the gantry,
00:21we are going to be all underway and go
00:23for round 9 of Funke Club 2025.
00:25They fan out looking for their own piece of racing room.
00:26It's going to be 3 abreast almost down towards turn 1.
00:28We're looking, so they're going to get the outside line
00:30into the first corner.
00:31Diving up the inside was 1.57.
00:33That was a good move there for second choice racing.
00:35Michael Lyons tried to make moves to the second row of the grid,
00:37but they're all getting through.
00:38Hopefully Cascades and the Pole Sisters round already.
00:40So he's going to be back in front.
00:41Collision, 2, 3, 4 cars involved, multiple cars in the mix.
00:45That's not what you want to see at the start of the race.
00:47And it was the Pole Sister spinning round
00:48right in the middle of the pack.
00:49And I'm afraid, John, with such a tightly packed field of 30 cars
00:52with one car spinning in the middle of the pack,
00:54I'm afraid that was always going to be a fear we were going to have.
00:56And sadly, it has been realised.
00:58Oh, that's such a shame.
00:59Basically, the first corner of the circuit, that is gutting.
01:02And a few drivers are getting caught up in it.
01:04Yeah, red flag already out there.
01:05We're going to come to a halt.
01:06Oh, that's the 195.
01:08The Ninky Nog is absolutely destroyed.
01:11Trying to bring it back to the pits.
01:12I think just park that thing up and get that trailer back.
01:15That is not going to make it back under its own.
01:16Seems shame for Axiometrics.
01:18One of our championship contenders is out of the first race.
01:22They were an outside shot.
01:24There are no shot now.
01:25Yeah, unfortunately, Axiometrics, that was, I think, a situation where John Perrett didn't have anywhere to go.
01:29And it was one of those places where, really, it was no one's fault, truthfully,
01:33because the 97 car lost the back end.
01:35That was the random racing car.
01:36Pierre ran on rotating around on the exit of the first corner.
01:39And we talked about the fact that, yes, these are all where the tyres were hunkered,
01:43but it's still very treacherous out there, very slippery,
01:45particularly if you haven't raced these cars very much.
01:48Round it went.
01:48And, as I said, ultimately, when you've got a car in that position,
01:51all you can do is try and hope to move out of the way.
01:53And there are cars moving every which way to get out of the way.
01:55And, unfortunately, you get into a situation where, at some point,
01:58one car's going to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
02:00And there's the result.
02:01Drivers are out, thankfully, we're hearing as well.
02:03FNS has got damage to the right rear.
02:04There's another car, GCI, also out of it as well.
02:06Another car to our right, that's the Pierre Random Car 97, I think,
02:09which is the one that was involved in that incident.
02:11But that's not the...
02:12It goes without saying, of course, John,
02:13but it's never what you want to see at the start of this race,
02:15particularly with Fun Cup,
02:16where, typically, driving standards is not really anyone's fault.
02:18But you never want to see incidents like this, of course.
02:20Another car that's been involved as well.
02:21That's the fast-track car that was also in there as well.
02:24So four cars stuck down on the exit of Oldham Corner.
02:27Two more were struck trouble.
02:28So at least six cars getting caught up in that.
02:31Not how we wanted to start round nine of the championship.
02:33No, exactly.
02:34It's such a shame.
02:35And the thing is, as well,
02:36there are multiple cars there with so much damage.
02:39I would be surprised if they get out
02:41for the three hour later on this afternoon.
02:43It's going to be a serious job for a lot of them.
02:45Axiometrics are trying to drag the car back to the pits
02:48with one tyre parallel to the circuit,
02:51which is not where it should be.
02:53They've done a good job to drag that round the entirety of the circuit
02:55and get it back.
02:56But what a gutting way to start the race day here
02:59from Alton Park, like you were saying.
03:01Just one of those things.
03:02It's the undulation through the exit of that first corner
03:05where you've got that weight transfer.
03:07That would have just caught them off guard.
03:08They've spun it round.
03:09And even if they hadn't been holding the brakes there,
03:11I think it was inevitable with the lack of grip
03:13that they were going to spin back across the circuit.
03:14And like you say, when you've got 30 cars diving down
03:16to the same piece of tarmac,
03:18it's going to be impossible for all of them to avoid the incident.
03:21And sadly, that was a big one.
03:23There is Axiometrics coming back into pit lane.
03:26Dragging it back.
03:27And I think they'll just be hoping they can get out
03:28with the second race of the day,
03:29even if the championship's gone.
03:31They've made the trip here.
03:32They've done all the practice and testing yesterday.
03:34Get themselves sorted.
03:35First corner of the first race.
03:36It's all gone wrong.
03:37I mean, regardless, kudos to John Perry for bringing the car back.
03:40Because, of course, in that situation,
03:41most drivers would have parked it and thought,
03:43no, I'm not going to risk it.
03:44But kudos to John for actually dragging it round
03:45at a slow enough speed.
03:46Because it's easy enough in that situation
03:48where you can go a little too quickly and cause further damage.
03:51But thankfully, John, went at a sensible speed,
03:52got it back to the pit.
03:53And also, it saves the team time
03:55because they now can use that time
03:56between now and the three-hour race
03:58to get that car back again.
03:59I don't doubt their ability,
04:01but at the same time,
04:02I'll be majorly impressed
04:03if they can get that car fixed
04:04before the three-hour race.
04:05You are shaking your head, though.
04:06Is that in disbelief
04:07or you don't think it's going to happen?
04:08I'm just not sure
04:09if JPR will have enough spare parts here
04:11for all of these cars
04:13to even try and get them pre-built.
04:15This is fun, Cup.
04:16Anything can happen.
04:17For sure, for sure.
04:18We'll wait and see.
04:19I hope as many cars can get out as possible.
04:21We'll wait and see.
04:22Red flag here then,
04:23just waiting for the race to get back underway.
04:25I think the main point to be made as well,
04:27when I was chatting with Olympian GRD,
04:29they were obviously pretty frustrated
04:31that we're down right near the back of the order.
04:33Actually, I think it's been quite a blessing
04:35to the top three of the championship.
04:36They've all started in the back 10 cars.
04:38That means they've seen this crash happen
04:40ahead of them,
04:40slowed down and avoided it all.
04:42So they're in a pretty good position at the moment.
04:43Sounds as though we've got Jamie Peters
