00:00Hey, everyone. I'm CJ from Enhance.
00:03And I'm Austin from Enhance.
00:05We're here to show you more of Lumen as Arise,
00:07our newest puzzle game coming to PlayStation 5 and Steam
00:10on November 11, 2025.
00:13And it's not your typical puzzle game.
00:15If you've played Tetris Effect Connected,
00:17you know what Enhance brings to the experience.
00:19In addition to beautiful particle-filled visuals,
00:21an amazing soundtrack and rock-solid gameplay,
00:23there's a narrative element woven throughout.
00:25It's truly a unique experience.
00:27Yeah, we wanted to bring that same feeling and energy players
00:30get from playing Enhance's games like Rez Infinite
00:33or Tetris Effect Connected to Luminous,
00:36a beloved puzzle series that began 20 years ago.
00:39And we've packed so much content into this game.
00:41There is something for every kind of puzzle game player.
00:44There's the single-player journey mode,
00:46the head-to-head burst battle, time attack leaderboards,
00:49weekend events, and even dozens of challenge modes
00:51and training missions to own your skills.
00:53It sounds like a lot, but don't worry.
00:56This video is going to unpack all of those things one by one.
00:59But first, a quick crash course on the basics.
01:04For those new to Luminous, blocks drop into the play field,
01:07often containing two different patterns.
01:09The goal is to form squares of 2x2 or larger,
01:11all of the same color or pattern.
01:13In larger matches,
01:14the game counts the number of 2x2 squares that fit in there.
01:17The timeline then sweeps across the screen
01:19to the beat of the music and clears matches you've made.
01:22And here's a brand new twist, burst.
01:25As you play, a number above the timeline increases from 50% to max at 100.
01:31You can hit L2 or R2, stop a match from clearing,
01:35and build it as large as possible.
01:37Adjacent blocks of the opposite pattern fly to the top of the screen
01:41as you grow your burst match, only to fall back down when it's all over,
01:45creating an even bigger screen-clearing opportunity.
01:48Burst is a powerful tool that you can use to clear a big section of your play field.
02:05The main single-player mode in Luminous Arise is Journey.
02:08I suspect players will spend a lot of time here,
02:11and as I've mentioned before, there's a narrative throughline,
02:13which is a bit of a departure from previous Luminous games.
02:17The team, led by director Takashi Ishihara,
02:20is telling a story about self-discovery, connection,
02:23and the emotional journeys we undertake in our lives.
02:26But it's subtle.
02:27There's no voice acting or text.
02:29You pick up on it through the music, the background graphics,
02:32transitions between stages, and how the gameplay makes you feel.
02:36Journey has over 35 unique stages,
02:41each with its own incredible music and visuals.
02:44The soundtrack is by Hydelic,
02:45the same composer behind the music in Tetris Effect Connected.
02:52And Austin, as you know, there are so many great songs in the game
02:55that match their stages so well.
02:58We've also included a ton of accessibility options,
03:06like the ability to tweak the visuals, turn off game overs,
03:10stop blocks from automatically dropping.
03:13So if you're watching this and thinking,
03:15this might be too much, you can tune everything to your comfort level.
03:19Once you complete Journey, you unlock Survival,
03:32a run-based challenge where you play through all of the stages without any breaks.
03:36This will be more familiar to Luminous Purist,
03:38and yes, there is a leaderboard for that mode.
03:40So good luck.
03:41If you're looking to improve your Luminous skills, check out the Missions mode.
03:45This is where you can truly master the core mechanics present in Luminous Arise.
03:49If you've played Luminous before and always wanted to get better,
03:52this is the place to do it.
03:54Training missions give you repeatable scenarios
03:56so you can learn how to deal with specific block types and maintain your combos.
04:01And then there are the challenges.
04:04Some are available from the start,
04:05and more are unlocked later after you progress through the Journey mode.
04:09They're all unique twists on the core gameplay.
04:11Things like alt-chains or blocks dropping with the beat,
04:14or huge clusters of blocks instead of the typical 2x2.
04:17It's incredibly fun.
04:20The Expert Challenges are my favorite.
04:22They block off parts of the play field
04:24or make you remember what's coming next in the queue.
04:26It's a great place to collect your skills.
04:29I can't wait to hear what people think of these.
04:34And once you find your favorite stages,
04:36you can add them to a playlist to suit your mood.
04:39And that brings up a good question.
04:40What's your favorite stage to start a playlist with?
04:43Personally, I love starting with something upbeat to get into the zone,
04:46such as Steam Ahead or Rise and Fall.
04:49Maybe something with a strong beat and a simple visual.
04:52How about you, CJ?
04:53I like something more chill to start, like Glow,
04:56and then build up to something more intense, like Codex.
04:59It's all about finding that perfect mood.
05:01So you might have noticed the little avatars in the bottom right of the screen.
05:08These are the Lumis.
05:10You can create your very own Lumi and customize them with different parts,
05:14a nameplay and a title.
05:15You get new parts from playing the game,
05:18or you can equip premium skins from the Digital Deluxe Edition.
05:22Your Lumi follows you everywhere, from your journey mode avatar
05:25to your representation in the multiplayer hub.
05:28Speaking of multiplayer, another new addition is Burst Battle,
05:32a head-to-head mode unlike any in previous Luminous games.
05:36You can play locally, online with friends, against the CPU, or in rank to play.
05:41You send garbage to your opponent by matching squares.
05:43The bigger the match, and especially the bigger the match in Burst,
05:46the more garbage and pressure you put on your opponent.
05:49We also have Time Attack with 60, 180, and 300 second options.
05:54It's a great place to see yourself getting better.
05:57And a cool new mode called Dig Down,
05:59where you have to continually clear the playfield downward
06:02as blocks appear at the bottom and raise the stack.
06:05And for when you're waiting for friends to hop online,
06:07or you just want to practice, you can try Quick Burst,
06:09an arcade-style challenge where you try to get the largest burst possible.
06:12It's a fun way to kill some time while still improving your skills.
06:15Stop into the multiplayer hub each weekend
06:18to participate in a weekend Lumi Live event.
06:21This worldwide community event encourages players to play Burst Battle,
06:26Time Attack, Dig Down, or Quick Burst on the weekend to advance a goal.
06:30If the goal is met, everyone who participated gets a unique Lumi avatar item.
06:34And that's Luminous Arise,
06:38packed with a ton of single and multiplayer modes and features,
06:41coming November 11th, 2025 to PlayStation 5 and Steam.
06:45And don't forget, it features optional VR support if you have a PSVR 2
06:49or a compatible PC headset, and it also plays great on the Steam Deck.
06:53You can pre-order on PlayStation 5 now and wishlist it on Steam.
06:57We cannot wait for you to experience this new vision for Luminous.
