00:31French or German, employer or job seeker, it doesn't matter.
00:35At this job dating event, everyone's on the same team, chasing new opportunities across borders.
00:45Through sports and games, participants are quickly discovering each other's personalities.
00:50The organizers of the event, Alehobzun Job, say these activities reveal more about a person's character than any resume ever could.
01:00The CV is a barrier, in fact, which is filled with human values.
01:04And today, this morning, we're going to share a moment of sports,
01:07to share values to facilitate the relationships for recruitment.
01:11None of the participants know who is an employer and who is a job seeker.
01:15It's only later that the true identities are revealed, marking the start of a recruitment process.
01:21And the results from previous editions speak for themselves.
01:24Among the job seekers is Sonia, a French mother of two with 40 years of work experience.
01:37Earlier this year, she lost her job due to economic reasons.
01:41Though she lives in France, Sonia is mainly exploring job opportunities in Germany, where she spent most of her career.
02:02She's what's known as a cross-border worker, someone who lives in one country but commutes daily to work in another.
02:09Across Europe, around 1.8 million people share this status,
02:14using the EU's freedom of movement to adapt their education and experience to different workplace cultures.
02:20In France, an employer demande d'avoir des diplômes.
02:24In Germany, an employer allemand demandera plutôt d'avoir des compétences.
02:29In Kiel, Germany, Cédric is also a cross-border worker.
02:33The French manager of a German animal food processing factory,
02:37he is actively looking for new employees, regardless of the country where they come from.
02:41Working abroad is not without challenges, as differences remain between EU member states and areas like administration, taxation, social security and labor rights.
03:09To facilitate the free movement of workers, the EU created the European Employment Services, or URES,
03:16which helps people find jobs and country-specific information.
03:21Within URES, cross-border partnerships focus on specific regions, like the Upper Rhine,
03:26which spans parts of France, Germany and Switzerland.
03:30We are one of the regions in Europe where there are the most transfrontaliers.
03:33We are talking about about 100,000 transfrontaliers.
03:36All these people need advice and information.
03:40With 1.7 million euros in ESF Plus funding for the 2024-2026 period,
03:47URES-T Upper Rhine is implementing a series of initiatives aimed at fostering connections between workers and employers.
03:54Other EU tools that support worker mobility include Europass, a multilingual platform available in over 30 languages,
04:23offering free digital services to help users at every stage of their career and learning journey.
04:29In 2026, the European Commission will also present the Fair Labour Mobility Package
04:34to strengthen the European Labour Authority, combat worker exploitation and introduce a European Social Security Pass.
04:42Labour mobility is a driving force of the European project.
04:45With better digital tools and stronger cross-border networks, workers can look beyond borders,
04:51boost local economies and help shape the Europe of tomorrow.
