00:00My name's Denise, and yeah, I'm an orphan, but I'm not your typical sad puppy-eyes orphan.
00:08Nope, I'm more like an agent of chaos.
00:11I always loved breaking the rules and pulling off pranks,
00:15like that time when I was six and I changed the orphanage shampoo for pink-haired eye.
00:22You guys look like you're about to drop the hottest K-pop album of the year!
00:27Denise, I told you not to do this again.
00:31But you're always saying we should brighten up the place.
00:34And sometimes I traumatized the other orphans.
00:39They say that if you say her name three times in front of a mirror, she appears.
00:45Denise, Denise, Denise!
00:48You summoned me?
00:51Ah! Mommy!
00:53You don't have a mommy!
00:58You're an orphan!
01:00And the people in the orphanage really tried to support in their own way.
01:07Hi, Denise.
01:08My name is Martha.
01:10I'm the new social worker, and I'm here to help you.
01:12But let's just say it didn't quite work.
01:15That creature is beyond help!
01:19Wait, she's just a little girl.
01:22That's not a little girl.
01:23That's the Antichrist!
01:25Aw!
01:26I love it!
01:28That'll be my new nickname!
01:31Over the years, some families did try to adopt me.
01:35But usually, the first meetings ended up with them running away in terror.
01:40What?
01:40It's just fake blood.
01:42Okay, okay, I'm kidding.
01:44It's real blood.
01:46So, when I was still a kid, I changed my status in the orphanage system to
01:50already adopted.
01:52Do not disturb.
01:53It was the easiest way to stop all those noisy,
01:56we just want to give you a better life, families, from bothering me.
02:01Anyway, I was waiting for my real parents to come claim me.
02:05Of course, I never met them.
02:07But I was sure they weren't like the other adults.
02:09In my mind, they were super special and cool.
02:14Maybe criminal masterminds pulling off daring heists.
02:18Or spies living under fake identities.
02:21Or outlaws on the run.
02:23Too dangerous for a normal life.
02:26Or to raise a daughter.
02:28Just some years later, I got to meet my real parents.
02:32And they sure weren't what I was expecting.
02:34At all.
02:35One night when I was 17, I was in the director's office,
02:39just replacing his stress meds with laxatives.
02:42When suddenly, a door at the back caught my attention.
02:45With my expert lockpicking skills, I had the door open in under a minute.
02:50And inside, I found the records and files of all the orphans.
02:54It wasn't hard to find mine.
02:57It was a little larger than the rest.
03:00There were reports, complaint forms, and even some newspaper clippings of the times I'd escaped the orphanage for a while
03:06to pull off some of my more daring feats.
03:08Oh my god, it's like someone made a scrapbook of all my greatest hits.
03:15Then, tucked between all the chaos, I saw it.
03:18An old page with two names under the heading,
03:21Parents.
03:22My heart stopped.
03:24Carmen and Henry Blandon.
03:26Sure, their names didn't scream criminal masterminds.
03:30But they were there.
03:32And there was even an address.
03:33That same night, I stuffed my file into my backpack and ran away from the orphanage.
03:39After a couple of days of hitchhiking and borrowing some strangers' cars,
03:44I finally arrived at my parents' address.
03:47It was a suburban house, with well-cut grass and a family car.
03:51It wasn't what I was expecting.
03:53But I was ready to know the truth.
03:56I was about to approach the door, when it suddenly opened.
03:59And I finally saw them.
04:01A woman in mom jeans, who looked like she hadn't updated her haircut since the 90s.
04:06And a man, who looked like he got excited about filing taxes.
04:10Don't forget our dinner date for Blandon Teens Day.
04:13Wouldn't miss it for anything.
04:15You, me, dumplings, and slow dancing in the kitchen.
04:18You sure you can handle that much romance?
04:21Only if you wear those socks with the little tacos on them.
04:25Ew!
04:26I wanted to scream, get a room!
04:28And just then, a girl about 13 years old walked out, wearing a high ponytail and a unicorn backpack.
04:35That had to be my sister?
04:38Ew!
04:39I forgot it's Blandon Teens Day.
04:41I'll see you at 7, honey.
04:43Hopefully, my breakup with Gary will be quick and painless.
04:46Wait, who's Gary?
04:48The mole on your dad's back.
04:49He's having Gary removed before dinner.
04:52I'm leaving now and never asking questions again!
04:55Don't run from your step mole, Andrea!
04:58I'm blocking this whole thing from memory!
05:01As they all drove off, I was fuming.
05:07Not only were they painfully ordinary and extremely lame,
05:12they had another daughter.
05:14One that they kept.
05:16All this time, they were playing happy family while I counted cockroaches on the orphanage walls?
05:22And right then and there, I decided I was going to do everything in my power to destroy their fairytale life.
05:32So I tailed them from a distance, all the way to Andrea's school.
05:36The first step of my plan was to infiltrate the family.
05:40And this pathetic unicorn princess was my way in.
05:45I walked into the school with the confidence of someone who'd been going there since kindergarten.
05:50I couldn't join Andrea in her class, so I spent the morning lurking around, waiting to catch her at recess.
05:57But when I walked into the cafeteria,
05:59I saw I wasn't the only one who had beef with her.
06:04Give me my backpack and leave me alone!
06:07Or what?
06:08You're gonna call your unicorn buddies?
06:10This was the perfect opportunity to gain my little sister's trust.
06:15Just leave her alone, you moron.
06:18They all turned to look at me.
06:19Who are you? And why are you dressed like a homeless person?
06:23Don't you have a mirror at home?
06:25Oh, is that the best you have?
06:27You look like you practice your insults in the mirror every morning.
06:30Mirror, mirror.
06:32Who's the lamest bully in town?
06:34Spoiler alert, it's you.
06:36The rest of the kids laughed, and you could see his bravery fizzle out.
06:41Why do you even want a unicorn backpack?
06:44That's kinda sus.
06:46What?
06:46No, it's not for me.
06:48It sells well on eBay.
06:50Right.
06:51Sure.
06:52Big market for used unicorn backpacks.
06:55Shut up!
06:56You know what bullies and unicorns have in common?
06:59They both look better with a horn on their forehead.
07:02At that moment, I snatched an ice cream cone right out of the hands of one of his sidekicks.
07:07And splat!
07:09I planted it dead center on his forehead.
07:11The crowd erupted with laughter.
07:15For a second, he just stood frozen, tears mixing with melted ice cream.
07:20Then he ran off.
07:21This is not over!
07:23Sure.
07:24Next time, I'll bring sprinkles.
07:26As the crowd began to scatter, Andrea walked up to me.
07:31Thank you so much for saving me.
07:33Don't mention it.
07:34We good people have to stick together.
07:36You're awesome!
07:38I'm Andrea.
07:39I'm Dan...
07:41Nuni Shijira.
07:42Yep.
07:43That's the best I could come up with.
07:45Nice to meet you, Danuni Shijira.
07:47That same night, Andrea invited me to her house for dinner.
07:51She wanted our parents to meet her savior.
07:54Couldn't have planned it better.
07:56But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about it.
07:59I mean, I was about to officially meet my parents.
08:03And of course, I couldn't go dressed like this.
08:07So I went on my own transformation scene, just like in the movies.
08:11Except instead of a fun shopping montage,
08:15I just shoplifted some clothes and cosmetics from Macy's and got ready in the mall bathroom.
08:20Ugh, I hate it.
08:22I looked like a tier B Disney princess whose biggest dreams are to attend the heiress tour and marry a dentist.
08:28I walked to the door, took a deep breath, and rang the doorbell.
08:32My parents opened the door with big smiles.
08:36And, after abandoning me 17 years ago, welcomed me into their house.
08:41It was a nice place.
08:43Not too big or fancy.
08:45But it felt warm.
08:47Like a home.
08:48I didn't expect it to.
08:50But it kind of startled me.
08:52I had to remind myself why I was there.
08:55Ruin their life.
08:56Got it.
08:57What's that?
08:58I was saying, you guys have a lovely home.
09:02Oh, thank you.
09:03You're so sweet.
09:05You're always welcome here.
09:07And thank you for helping her with that bully.
09:09Andrea told us everything about it.
09:11Oh, it was nothing.
09:13It was amazing, Danunisha Jira.
09:15We sat down to dinner.
09:16And honestly, it was hard to stomach how sweet they were.
09:21Like a family-sized bowl of cringe with extra syrup.
09:24They had an entire wall dedicated to Andrea's achievements.
09:28Like she'd cured a disease or won an Olympic gold medal.
09:32My orphanage file is much more impressive.
09:35And, just before dinner, they made me say grace.
09:40Out loud.
09:41Full on, thank you for this food style.
09:44So, yeah.
09:46Thanks, Jesus Christ, for being cool.
09:49And, uh, shout out to all your crew for this dinner.
09:52Great work, everyone.
09:53The food looks swell.
09:55Iman.
09:56I mean, amen.
09:57During dinner, I was bombarded with questions.
10:01Literally.
10:02Are you new in school?
10:03When did you arrive in town?
10:05Where are you from?
10:06What do your parents do?
10:07For how long are you staying?
10:08Where are you living?
10:09Anyone else would have cracked under pressure.
10:13But not me.
10:14It spent years perfecting the art of lying.
10:17Yes, today was my first day in school.
10:19I arrived yesterday.
10:20I'm originally from Oklahoma, but I'm something of a nomad.
10:23My parents are circus artists, so they're always touring around the world.
10:26Right now, they're in Asia.
10:28I'm supposed to stay here for a year.
10:29I'm living in a drafty apartment above a dry cleaner downtown and the bathroom's outside.
10:34But hey, at least the hallway raccoon looks disease-free and it's not a circus cage.
10:37Oh, honey.
10:41They felt so bad for me, they invited me to stay with them just until my family came back.
10:46And Andrea was over the moon about it.
10:50Are you sure about this?
10:51I don't want to impose.
10:53We're not letting a nice, sweet kid like yourself live alone in some awful apartment.
10:59Stay here as long as you want.
11:01If your parents are okay with it, of course.
11:03Honestly, I don't think they care about me or where I live.
11:07Oh, don't say that.
11:09I'm sure they do.
11:11You're staying with us.
11:13End of discussion.
11:14For a moment, I thought, they're so nice.
11:17They seem like good people.
11:18Then, I remembered they had dumped me in an orphanage.
11:22It would be my pleasure.
11:25Step one of my plan, complete.
11:28I was living in their house, eating their food, and most importantly, not sleeping in a stolen car anymore.
11:35Just for fun.
11:36I logged into the orphanage's official portal one day.
11:40The orphanage had technically reported me missing, but I don't think they were in any rush to find me.
11:45My police sketch was basically a smiley face with long hair.
11:49I bet they threw a party and changed the locks.
11:52After a few days, I realized I couldn't just keep lurking around Andrew's school like that.
11:58Eventually, someone was going to notice I didn't actually go there.
12:01So I faked some transfer papers, printed them at the library, and dropped them off at the front office confidently.
12:08You're not in the system yet, but I'll update it.
12:11Probably.
12:11I paid the admission fee using savings from my many orphanage side hustles.
12:16Thankfully, it was just a tacky public school, so it wasn't much.
12:20And just like that, I was in.
12:22And then, I started disrupting my family's perfect life.
12:27I started small, switching the salt with sugar, hiding the remote, setting all the clocks half an hour off.
12:34Then, I kicked it up a notch.
12:37I accidentally left the back door open and lured the neighbor's goat into Mr. Blandon's study.
12:44It ate his entire stack of work documents and chewed up two USB sticks.
12:50But they always managed to spin it into something positive.
12:55Mmm.
12:56This coffee's a little salty, but it's got personality.
13:00And I love it.
13:01Must be a new trend.
13:02This one's unreadable.
13:08But maybe that's the universe telling me to take a break.
13:11You have been working too hard lately.
13:14It's a sign.
13:15You're right, honey.
13:16Thank you, mysterious, wise goat of destiny.
13:20That goat ate your entire fiscal quarter.
13:23We've always said, when one USB doesn't work, another one will.
13:27Are they high on essential oils or what?
13:30I don't know if it was their sickening optimism or the fact that I just accidentally salted my cereal.
13:36But the urge to vomit kicked in hard.
13:40I was getting defeated by a family of wholesome weirdos.
13:44But then it clicked.
13:46Right there, I came up with a plan so diabolical that I gave myself the creeps.
13:52If I really wanted to get back at my parents, I had to do it through their greatest weakness.
13:59Their sweet, precious Andrea.
14:02I could corrupt her, turn their sweet little princess into a fire-breathing, chaos-spreading dragon.
14:09So I took my time to study her first.
14:13Andrea was everything I wasn't.
14:16She was a good student, sweet, polite, and had that weird habit of raising her hand before speaking.
14:23Even at home, she probably recycled her homework and apologized to chairs when she bumped into them.
14:29Of course, being a nerd and a pushover doesn't exactly make you popular in school.
14:34Every day, she was bullied.
14:36But she tried to hide it from me.
14:38Yes, I accidentally dropped my personal diary in the toilet.
14:42Again.
14:43Silly me.
14:44Yeah, she even had a personal diary.
14:47What a loser.
14:49And she was obsessed with me.
14:52She kept following me around like I was some kind of superhero.
14:55She wanted to spend every second with me.
14:59Look, Dinouni, I made a BFF bracelet for you.
15:03Oh, great.
15:05Too bad I'm allergic to bracelets.
15:07It was nauseating to have her clinging to me like a python.
15:12But it also made my plan easy.
15:14Almost too easy.
15:17Andrea admired me so much.
15:20It was like watching a kitten imprint on a raccoon.
15:22She ditched the glitter lip gloss and rainbow socks for oversized hoodies, dark eyeliner, and a permanent don't-talk-to-me face.
15:31And then I started planting seeds.
15:34Little thoughts here and there.
15:37You know, you don't have to smile all the time.
15:40It's okay to say no.
15:42Just because your parents love broccoli casserole doesn't mean you have to pretend it doesn't taste like wet socks.
15:48At first, she laughed it off, but then she started testing it out.
15:54I actually don't like your perfume.
15:56It gives me a headache.
15:57Oh, okay, sweetie.
16:00And when no one exploded or burst into tears, she kept going.
16:05Luckily, the rebellious teenage hormones were also kicking in right on time.
16:10She stopped over-apologizing, raised her voice when she didn't agree with something,
16:14and she even rolled her eyes.
16:18Words like, please, thank you, and love you, mommy and daddy
16:22disappeared faster than the spare change they used to leave in the cookie jar.
16:26What?
16:27It's not stealing if it's in plain sight.
16:29And then she saw me skipping classes and never doing my homework.
16:34So she followed my example.
16:37And her grades tanked.
16:39Of course, eventually, the Blandons started connecting the dots.
16:43Another D?
16:45Andrea, what's going on with you lately?
16:47Can we just not do this?
16:49It's so exhausting.
16:51You've been acting out ever since...
16:53Well, since Danuni showed up.
16:56Oh, so it's her fault now?
16:58Right, because you two are perfect.
17:01We didn't say that.
17:02Just drop it!
17:03Leave her out of this!
17:04Even though Andrea defended me, it was only a matter of time before they discovered for a fact that I was the rotten seed.
17:12So, as Andrea became more like me, I became more like her.
17:18Yeah, me.
17:19Mr. Blandon, your baseball card collection is seriously impressive.
17:31And Mrs. Blandon, that pink sweater?
17:34Absolutely stunning!
17:35Oh, you're just the sweetest.
17:39Just saying it like it is, Mrs. B.
17:41We can go to a baseball game sometime, if you want, of course.
17:45There's literally nothing I'd love more.
17:48Oh, Danuni.
17:50We owe you an apology.
17:52What for?
17:53We thought maybe you, your influence, wasn't that great for Andrea.
17:59She's changed so much.
18:00Oh, well, you know, it's just tough being a teenager.
18:05Exams, hormones, peer pressure, probably a boy named Jaden who plays the ukulele.
18:11It's a whole storm.
18:12But I don't want to cause you any distress.
18:15And maybe it would be better for everyone if I went back to my apartment.
18:20No, Danuni, it's not your fault.
18:23We were obviously wrong.
18:25You've been nothing but sweet and helpful to us.
18:28Please stay.
18:28My plan was working like a charm.
18:31But I knew that turning Andrea fully evil wasn't just about ditching glitter and grades.
18:37So, when the universe dropped the perfect opportunity into my lap during lunch, I knew it was showtime.
18:45A boy walked up to our table, tiny, wearing glasses and struggling to balance his food tray and stack of books.
18:52Move his chair.
18:53But you'll fall.
18:55Exactly.
18:55Andrea's conscience was clearly battling with her desire to impress me.
19:00The nerd took another wobbly step toward our table.
19:04Do it now or he'll make it.
19:06And if he makes it, he sits.
19:09Andrea reached over and moved the chair.
19:12And the boy landed on the ground with a loud thud, food and books flying everywhere.
19:18Suddenly, everyone around started laughing.
19:23Except Andrea.
19:25She was looking horrified.
19:27But then...
19:27Didn't think you had it any to bring down a nerd, Andrea.
19:31Respect.
19:31And just like that, a tiny, barely there smile cracked through her face.
19:37For once, people were not laughing at her.
19:40But because of her, she'd tasted chaos.
19:45And she liked it.
19:47Her villain story arc was complete.
19:51The rest was a lock in the park.
19:54Her grades kept sinking faster.
19:56Detention became part of her daily routine.
20:00And our parents visited the principal's office so often, they were on a first-name basis.
20:05Meanwhile, I kept right on being the worst influence ever.
20:09You're definitely old enough to get a skull tattoo.
20:12Totally.
20:13You should kidnap that girl's dog.
20:16Sure.
20:16It's only natural for you to scratch the principal's car with your key.
20:20He's so annoying.
20:21It was only a matter of time before Andrea got suspended.
20:25I'd never seen the Blandons so angry and disappointed.
20:28And so clueless.
20:31Andrea, all we want is for you to talk to us.
20:35We want to understand you.
20:37To be there for you.
20:38You want to help me?
20:40Then leave me alone.
20:41I hate you two.
20:42They didn't even have the strength to scream or scold her.
20:47They were utterly defeated.
20:50And I was so delightfully sweet.
20:52They never suspected I was the one behind all this.
20:56My parents' fairy tale life was crumbling.
21:01And it was time for the final flourish.
21:05They don't get you.
21:06They never will.
21:07Sooner or later, they'll give up and send you away to some boarding school with plaid skirts and discipline drills.
21:14A little harsh?
21:16Maybe.
21:16But it worked.
21:17They've always seen me as this perfect little doll.
21:20I've always followed the rules and done the right things.
21:23And it never got me anywhere.
21:25But you, you don't care what anyone thinks.
21:28You don't beg to be liked.
21:30I want to know what that feels like.
21:32I want to know what made you like this.
21:34Maybe if I lived like you did, I'll finally stop feeling so weak.
21:39You want to be me?
21:40Start by making better life choices.
21:43Like what?
21:44Liking and subscribing to MSA.
21:46Obviously.
21:47Already did.
21:48Good.
21:48There's hope for you yet.
21:50Okay.
21:51I wasn't used to it.
21:51I wasn't used to people trying to relate to me.
21:53I didn't know why she wanted to understand me so badly.
21:56But there was rebellion in her eyes.
21:59And I knew she was ready to deliver the final blow.
22:03Then, just do what I would do.
22:07Blow it up.
22:09The next day, Mr. Blandon took Andrea to his office, thinking it would be a chance to bond.
22:15Which was stupid, considering she'd been acting like the spawn of Satan.
22:18First, she sent everyone running out of the office, like accidentally setting off the fire alarms.
22:25Then she found the office smart speaker controls and hijacked them during an all-hands meeting.
22:30Baby Shark blared over the system for half an hour before someone figured out how to shut it off.
22:36But later that day, Andrea wandered into the break room.
22:40And as luck would have it, she overheard the CEO in full meltdown mode on a call,
22:46yelling about cutting staff like fat from a steak.
22:50Naturally, she recorded the whole thing on her phone,
22:53snuck back to her dad's desk when he was in a meeting,
22:55and uploaded the video straight to the company's internal Slack channel.
23:00Needless to say, Mr. Blandon left work that day with a cardboard box and a security escort.
23:07That night, the Blandon sent Andrea to bed without dinner.
23:12As they sat in the living room silently, I spied on them from the staircase.
23:16What are we going to do now?
23:18That job was all that kept us afloat.
23:21We're gonna be okay.
23:22How?
23:23I don't know.
23:24I did it.
23:26I ruined the lives of my neglectful parents.
23:29But it didn't feel like a sweet victory.
23:34I really hate to say it, but I actually felt bad for them.
23:39Sure, they deserved it.
23:41But Andrea didn't.
23:43She was a victim, just like me.
23:46She just wanted a friend.
23:48And I took advantage of that.
23:50And suddenly, I felt horrible.
23:53Oh my god.
23:54I feel dizzy.
23:56I went upstairs to her room to talk to her.
23:58Maybe even confess.
24:00But she wasn't there.
24:01Or anywhere else in the house.
24:03Her things were gone.
24:04And her window was open.
24:06Andrea ran away.
24:08What?
24:08She's gone.
24:10Babe, check upstairs again.
24:11Danuni, you take this floor.
24:13I'll ask the neighbors.
24:14We searched the whole house.
24:17Every room.
24:18Every closet.
24:19Every dumb hiding spot.
24:21Nothing.
24:22No one saw her.
24:23Oh baby, we can't lose her too.
24:26Two?
24:26They looked at each other for a moment and took a deep breath.
24:31Andrea is not an only child.
24:34We had another daughter before her.
24:36This is not the time to talk about that, honey.
24:39Wait.
24:39What happened to her?
24:41They froze.
24:42A heavy silence hanging between us.
24:44When we found out we were having her, we were so happy.
24:49But we were so young.
24:51We were still kids.
24:52Our families didn't take the news well.
24:55They didn't want us to keep her.
24:57Said we were throwing our lives away.
25:00We refused.
25:01So they kicked us out and cut us off.
25:03We had nothing.
25:04We were living in a broken down trailer.
25:07And we didn't have money for diapers, food, or heating.
25:11One night, she got sick.
25:12And we couldn't even afford to take her to a proper doctor.
25:15We tried our best, but it wasn't enough.
25:18We realized that if we really loved her, we had to let her go.
25:22I listened to their story, barely holding it together.
25:26Fighting the urge to cry or just explode.
25:29We took our girl to an orphanage and left her there.
25:33It was only until we got back on our feet, we were always going to go back for her.
25:37But you didn't.
25:39Yes, we did.
25:41We spent some years getting our lives together, saving money, finding a place to live, and
25:45then we went back for her.
25:47Why are you lying?
25:49What?
25:50We are not lying.
25:51You never came back for me.
25:55That one word hit like a lightning bolt.
25:58There was no need for any explanation.
26:01They understood everything in a second.
26:04Their eyes welled up instantly.
26:06Denise!
26:07Our baby girl!
26:09They tried to hug me, but I stopped them.
26:11No!
26:12Don't think for a moment that this is a heartwarming Instagram moment.
26:16You abandoned me and never came back.
26:20But we did, honey.
26:21We did.
26:22Stop lying.
26:24We are not lying.
26:26We went back for you.
26:28But the system said you were adopted.
26:30And something weird like, do not disturb.
26:33Whoopsie whoopsie.
26:35Well, that was my bad.
26:37But still, they just gave up.
26:39We thought you were adopted and we didn't want to ruin your new life.
26:43Do I look adopted to you?
26:46Yeah.
26:46I know that didn't make much sense.
26:48But I was too emotional.
26:50My head was spinning.
26:51And I didn't know if I wanted to cry, scream, or just disappear.
26:55I just can't do this right now.
26:59Please, just let us explain.
27:01No, stop.
27:03You had 17 years to explain.
27:05Now it's too late.
27:07I need to think.
27:08Don't follow me.
27:10They tried to stop me, but I was out of there before they could.
27:14I was more than ready to go back to the orphanage.
27:17Clearly, the family life wasn't for me.
27:20But first of all, I needed to find Andrea.
27:23I checked the school, her favorite bookstore,
27:27the sad little park where we once dared a squirrel to steal someone's fries.
27:31Nothing.
27:32Come on, Andrea.
27:33Where would you even go?
27:35That's when I remembered her words.
27:37Maybe if I lived like you did, I'll finally stop feeling so weak.
27:42Wait.
27:43No way.
27:44She wouldn't.
27:45She couldn't have found out.
27:47But knowing Andrea, and knowing how much she idolized me,
27:51maybe she could have.
27:52I grabbed the neighbor's scooter and headed to the orphanage at full speed.
27:57And sure enough, I found Andrea trying to check into the two-star hotel for abandoned kids.
28:03Look, my moral compass is pretty busted.
28:05But even I know faking being an orphan is kind of messed up.
28:09Denise!
28:10What are you doing here?
28:11So you also know my real name?
28:14I thought our parents never told you of my existence.
28:16They didn't.
28:17And then she explained everything.
28:20Mom and Dad never told me anything about you.
28:23But when I was around ten, I found an old box in their closet.
28:27Inside, there were some baby clothes, a hospital bracelet, and a lot of pictures.
28:32I didn't understand at the time who this baby was or why she wasn't around.
28:36And I just never dared to ask.
28:39But then you showed up.
28:40Wait.
28:41You knew who I was right away?
28:44No, not at first.
28:45I mean, you did raise some suspicions.
28:47Like, you gave me an obviously fake name and were weirdly eager to meet my parents.
28:52But I didn't find out the truth until I stumbled on your orphanage file while cleaning up your room.
28:58And why didn't you say something to me?
29:00I was scared you'd leave if I did.
29:02I thought our parents would recognize you in an instant.
29:05But they didn't.
29:06I just went with the flow.
29:07So, you knew about my whole ruin-their-lives plan?
29:12Yep.
29:12I kind of figured that one out, too.
29:14Why didn't you try to stop me?
29:16Because you had every right to be angry with them.
29:19After reading your file, I understood what my parents had done to you.
29:23You had to live all your life in a horrible place like this without knowing who your parents were or why they had abandoned you.
29:30Of course you acted out.
29:32And they never even told me I had a sister.
29:35They weren't even planning to.
29:37So, you didn't go all evil and chaotic because of me?
29:42Well, yes.
29:43I mean, at least partly.
29:45The truth is, I did want to impress you.
29:48You're bold, fearless, cool.
29:51The opposite of me.
29:52I started copying you at first because I wanted you to like me.
29:55But when I read the file, I just got so mad at our parents.
30:00They deserve all we did and more after what they did.
30:04They were struggling and desperate.
30:07What, are you going to justify their actions now?
30:09No, not exactly.
30:11But I think I get them better now.
30:14They were scared, overwhelmed, and they made a horrible decision.
30:19And so did I.
30:19I hurt someone who didn't deserve it.
30:22Just because I was mad and scared, and I thought it would make me feel better.
30:29I wanted to destroy them, and I used you to do it.
30:33You were just this sweet, unicorn-loving nerd, and I turned you into, well, me.
30:40That's not sister stuff, that's villain stuff, and I'm really sorry.
30:46I ended up here because of their mistake, and now you're here because of my stupid revenge.
30:53I came here because even though I know it's not my fault, I can't help but feel guilty.
30:58I had this amazing childhood, and you didn't.
31:01You were all alone.
31:03But I'm not alone anymore.
31:05I have no more plans, no more agenda.
31:08I just want to be your big sister, if you let me.
31:12Andrea didn't say anything.
31:14She just threw her arms around me, and we hugged hard.
31:18And for the first time ever, I felt like I had a family.
31:22I didn't seem to care about the past anymore.
31:25We called our parents, and they came to pick us up.
31:28There was a lot of crying, hugging, apologizing, more crying.
31:33And a very awkward group photo taken by a confused orphanage worker.
31:37Let's go home.
