00:00Hello, Pro Wrestling fans. My name is Walker Stewart. It is time for New Japan Pro Wrestling Super Junior Tag League 205-95. Straight out of Sado Island in Nigata. My name is Walker Stewart.
00:15Thank you for having me.
00:19Matsumoto Tatsuya!
00:23Oh, an island of their own. All of our Young Lions.
00:26Yasuda Masadora!
00:30To be a Young Lion is certainly to feel coastal. But from feeling coastal to going postal, we're talking about Young Lions Zane Shay and Showa Katsu.
00:41Looking to make their way down to ringside.
00:44The red corner, 183cm, 95kg
00:48Zane J!
00:54173cm, 95kg
00:56Kato Shoma
01:02Now this is going to be a night, folks, where we are talking about interesting teams in the sport of professional wrestling and this happens to be one of them.
01:09There you see the lovely Harua Murata and Milano Collection AT, your Japanese broadcast team.
01:14I'm somewhere in the rafters here tonight in Sato City, General Gymnasium.
01:19We've taken the ferry, we've taken the flight.
01:22Oh, the flight. There's a whole boat.
01:24And that boat did carry men like Zane J, men like Shoma Kato.
01:29They had to be kept in separate quarters, if you know what I'm saying.
01:33As it is Zane J who wants Tatsuya Matsumoto opposite him here tonight.
01:38Bell sounds were officially underway, one fault, 20 minute time limit.
01:42The first time I have been corrected, the first time that New Japan Pro Wrestling has hit the island of Sato since 1994.
01:51That's about 31 years the distance between here and 2025.
01:57And the time previous to that, 1973.
02:00So we are keeping up a good streak every 20 to 30 years hitting Sato Island.
02:04And it has been 20 to 30 years in the making here tonight for Super Junior Tag Lead Night 5, courtesy of New Japan Pro Wrestling.
02:10I'll be joined later on in the English Groove by the incredible, the ever-verbose Robbie Eagles.
02:17Who will be looking to certainly talk up a storm about the run that himself and Kosei Fujita have been on in Block B.
02:23But when we talk about Block B, we have to talk about the opposite end of the spectrum in Block A.
02:27Our main event tonight, the undefeated Master Watto and Yo taking on Gero.
02:32And Hiromu Takahashi, six points to two.
02:35That's going to be your main event that we get into here tonight in Sato Island.
02:39And let's talk further about Zane J and Tatsuya Matsumoto.
02:47Generational rivals stood opposite one another.
02:50I had a conversation on the boat with Tatsuya Matsumoto and Zane J.
02:54Separate conversations, of course.
02:56These two men have been continuing to try and get their hands on one another.
02:59Neither man has scored a singles victory over the other in their entire careers.
03:04Their short careers here in the Land of the Rising Sun.
03:07Zane J continuing to try and work that left side of the body.
03:10But to the bottom rope, Tatsuya Matsumoto is going to make it early on in it.
03:14But it's interesting to look not in the blue corner in Zane J's opposition,
03:19but you look to the red corner in Zane J's partnership.
03:22Meanwhile, Tatsuya Matsumoto going to take the attention off of both corners,
03:26put it right in the center of the ring.
03:27And it's going to be Zane J who has to get back to that bottom rope before anyone else does.
03:32It was not too long ago on the road to King of Pro Wrestling as Masa Toriyasada makes the attack
03:40that Zane J attacked Shomakato from behind during post-match comments.
03:46Shomakato now standing in the corner of Zane J.
03:48That is how quickly things move here in the Young Lions system in the Nogue Dojo.
03:53And you'll notice Zane J not the one to make that attack himself.
03:57That's going to be Shomakato who wants to find his way into the fray.
04:00And it is side headlock from the senior-most member of the Nogue Dojo to enter this affair.
04:16Shomakato Masa Toriyasada in that second generation, the latest to come, of course,
04:21being that of Zane J and Tatsu Masumoto, intergenerational rivals that are coming to pee here tonight
04:28are Shomakato Masa Toriyasada.
04:30Look at this.
04:31Driving that taped up left knee.
04:33We talk about it all the time.
04:34You put bandaging.
04:35You put any sort of piece on to try and recuperate any sort of injury you have in a tournament of this style.
04:43Well, it is going to be torn apart at the seams by any competent professional wrestler.
04:47And Shomakato, well beyond that point during his stay here in the Nogue Dojo,
04:52has progressed incredibly well since his debut back in about this time in 2023.
05:10And meanwhile, Shomakato, yeah, going to force the tag back to Zane J in the red corner.
05:14And J, yeah, might want to focus on that left knee of Masa, of Yasada rather,
05:19but is going to take into Tatsu Masumoto anyway.
05:22Now here comes that repeated attack.
05:24I mean, if we're going knee for knee here, you look at the heavy bandaging not only on Yasada,
05:29but on the man working over that left knee right now in Zane J.
05:33But Zane J looking to pull the stump of Masa Toriyasada here in our opening match of the evening.
05:37One fall 20 minute time limit, we are never going to need to go the 20 distance with these men
05:42as we are eager and eager to get the job done quicker every single night.
05:47That is what all the training in the Nogue Dojo leads us to, wrestling fans.
05:51And look at that, that is a wishbone I would not want to be on the other side of.
05:57That's Shomakato, who's going to take the lead here in the red corner.
06:00And again, just working over not just the left knee, but the right knee now.
06:10And I like this from Kato, working both sides of the body.
06:14You cannot just put all your eggs in one basket.
06:16Our young lions know that better than any.
06:20As they continue to be put through the ringer every single night by their seniors, by one another,
06:25by our head trainers in the Nogue Dojo.
06:28And it has been a hell of a transition Zane J has made out of the NJPW Academy
06:32in Los Angeles, California, USA to touring all over mainland and even off the coastal side of Japan.
06:39Here at Sato Island tonight, Zane J looking to pull the stump.
06:43One more time, that left leg continuing to be worked over on Masutori Yasuda here.
06:49Kato might want that tag here for Zane J.
06:52Not that he needs it, but you see Kato leaning into the ring right there.
06:56And is he barking orders to Zane J? I'm not too certain.
06:59But if he is, I know that Zane's not going to take too kindly to that.
07:02And to the bottom rope, Yasuda's going to make it anyway.
07:07Zane J continuing to lay in these shots on Masutori Yasuda.
07:25Yasuda's going to have to hit back harder and heavier.
07:29J a larger athlete. Some might consider a stronger athlete.
07:35Oh, but is he the more technically advantageous? I don't think so.
07:39Yasuda has spent a little bit more time inside that Nogue Dojo.
07:43And he is continuing to work with the best of them here. Yasuda.
07:48Bam, drop kick. That is a heavy whiplash effect for Zane J.
07:54I am not liking what we're seeing off the back of that one.
07:57He is going to have to make that tag to Shomakato now, whether he likes it or not.
08:01J is facing the wrong direction for it. Needs the blue corner tag.
08:05Here comes Tatsuya Matsumoto. Zane J back to his feet.
08:08And Matsumoto, these generational rivals, coming back to blows.
08:11And there again, yet another conducive shot right to the side of the skull on Zane J.
08:24And that's it. Scoop and a slam here from Tatsuya Matsumoto.
08:29And again and again and again and as many times as it's going to take to put down the Taquilla Washington native.
08:36Look at this cover here for Matsumoto too.
08:41In my conversation with Tatsuya Matsumoto on the boat earlier today.
08:46It was a two-ish hour ride over from then he got a port over to Riotu Port inside our island.
08:53He told me I'm continuing to learn English because I like talking trash to Zane J.
08:58Doing it inside the ring. Doing it inside the dojo.
09:02Just opening his dormitory door just to throw an insult in or two that he just learned on Duolingo.
09:07That's the state Tatsuya Matsumoto said about Zane J.
09:11How's Shoma Kato going to feel about that?
09:21Kato now the senior most member of the noge dojo outside of Tatsuya Morishima.
09:26We'll be seeing Morishima later on in action here tonight.
09:31Cover here for Shoma Kato one more time.
09:34Two count over.
09:35And the applause and respect the first time that we've been here in Sado Island since 1991.
09:44I believe the number was told to me.
09:47Oh, good lord have mercy.
09:51These fans absolutely respectful of the technique of the process.
09:56It is all about the grind, the grind, the grind, the sudden halt, the stop and the movement again.
10:02It is how far can you travel on just one broken wheel?
10:08Man, is he ever going to struggle of a young lion until you can grease those wheels well enough to where they roll on all at the same time.
10:16Hey, how about this for a little bit of tag team continuity?
10:19It's Super Junior Tag League.
10:21And here's the heavy hits from the heavyweights.
10:23Tatsuya Matsumoto looking for a huge win this early on in his career.
10:28And it would be an absolutely embarrassing occasion for Shoma Kato to culture and fail right here, right now.
10:37Kato has to scratch and claw and cut into the bottom rope.
10:43Shoma Kato makes it.
10:49Tatsuya Matsumoto certainly loves to will himself some submission game.
10:59Kato has been all about the elbows.
11:01It's been all about the grappling technique for Kato as well.
11:04Cover here for Shoma.
11:05Two.
11:11For how long can that last shoot?
11:13Kato has got to do everything in his power to put things down right here, right now.
11:18And it's just like that.
11:20The vertical suplex right on the lion mark.
11:22And that is a message if you have ever seen it.
11:24And this is going to drive it into the dirt and drive Matsumoto even further as well.
11:28Got to step over Boston Craft on Matsumoto.
11:33Kato wants to tap out victory here on Sato Island.
11:42And even still, his technique patented in the no-gate dojo.
11:49It's going to bring Matsumoto to an end tonight.
11:53Victory goes away of Shoma Kato.
11:55Kato.
11:56Kato.
11:57Kato.
11:58Kato.
11:59Kato.
12:00Kato.
12:01Kato.
12:02Kato.
12:03Kato.
12:04Kato.
12:05Kato.
12:06Kato.
12:07Kato.
12:08Kato.
12:09Kato.
12:10Kato.
12:11Kato.
12:12Kato.
12:13Kato.
12:14Kato.
12:15Kato.
12:16Kato.
12:17This is the strength that only a run through the No Day Dojo can bring you in professional wrestling.
12:28Two men who have never, ever seen eye to eye since Saint Jay burst out of himself into the fold in the No Day.
12:37And they pick up victory here tonight.
12:41Congratulations to Saint Jay and Shoma Kato.
12:44But there are going to be a lot of other teams on the evening that are looking for the exact same success.
12:49Whether it is a preview tag team action leading us all the way into Block B coming up on October 29th.
12:56Or whether it is of course our Block A competitors still become our main event.
13:01Master Watto and Yo, former IWGP Junior Tag Team Champions, undefeated.
13:06Six points on the board, 3-0 in Super Junior Tag League this year.
13:10Take on the already eliminated duo of Hiromu Takahashi and Kato.
13:14We move right on in to your first preview tag match of the evening.
13:18We thank you so much for joining us here tonight at NJPW Global on all social media for you to follow and keep up with New Japan Pro Wrestling.
13:30Hashtag NJSJTL to talk all about the wrestling action that we see here tonight.
13:36And I cannot wait for us to get into Block A competition.
13:41But before that, we move right on and in to Block B preview.
13:46It is the hard tie combination.
13:50Taking out Bullet Club Wardocs.
