00:00A three-faced zombie bumps on your car's windshield, a joker stuffs his snake into
00:09your window, or a masked man opens the door of your car from out of nowhere – these
00:13are the experiences people have to go through for their cars to be cleaned at this car wash
00:18in California's Orange County during Halloween season.
00:22The event first started in 2020 when Halloween was cancelled and there weren't much to
00:27do during the pandemic, says co-founder Veronica Young.
00:30As it got popular, the tradition was carried on.
00:34Customers consider these bizarre car wash experiences as their scariest.
00:38Halloween is an annual celebration on October 31st known for costumes, trick-or-treating
00:43or decorations like jack-o'-lanterns.
00:46It originated from the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which marked the end of summer
00:51and believed the boundary between the living and the dead blood.
00:55Today, it combines these roots with Christian traditions observed as a fun, secular holiday
00:59in many parts of the world.
01:01On Halloween, people, especially children, dress up in a wide variety of costumes, from
01:06scary figures to popular characters.
01:09Children also go door-to-door saying trick-or-treat to receive candy and other treats.
01:14Common decorations during this occasion include carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns and using
01:19spooky haunted are festive themes.
01:22It's a pretty good experience.
01:24And I love a lot of the spooky season stuff, so I think it was really, really fun.
01:28Oh my gosh.
01:29Yeah.
01:30Well, I think we've got a lot of scare actors just coming towards you all the time, but
01:36also, I think it's different from a haunt you have to get your car washed, too.
01:40I think it's a lot of fun.
01:42Yeah, we've been to a lot of spooky stuff this season, and I think this is by far the scariest.
01:49It's more interactive, I think.
01:50Yeah.
01:51And they specifically target you, so I feel like a lot of other places are kind of just
01:56walking by, and people, like, they usually skip you sometimes, and it's just like a hit
02:01or miss, but here, they're kind of specifically targeting each part.
02:05If you're a little more spooked or maybe you don't know if your children, if you could bring
02:11your children and maybe this could be their first hot experience and see how they do because
02:17they don't have to be open.
02:19The windows can be closed and the doors can be shut, and they can feel safe inside, you
02:24know?
