00:00Anthropic debuts Skills for Claude to make it smarter at work.
00:04AI agents have spent years living in the tech world's version of Limbo,
00:08hyped up in PowerPoints, demoed on stage,
00:10but rarely doing anything you'd actually call useful.
00:13That's changing fast.
00:15Companies like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic
00:18are finally shifting from futuristic promises to practical tools.
00:23And Anthropic's latest move is its biggest swing yet.
00:26Skills for Claude.
00:27Skills are like cheat sheets for your AI co-worker.
00:32They're folders packed with instructions, scripts, and resources
00:35that help Claude do specific jobs better,
00:37whether it's crunching numbers in Excel,
00:39writing within your company's brand voice,
00:41or generating slick PowerPoint decks.
00:44Anthropic says users can even build custom skills
00:47tailored to their own workflows,
00:49syncing them across Claude AI, Claude Code,
00:52Anthropic's API, and the Claude Agent SDK.
00:55Big names like Box, Rakuten, and Canva are already giving it a spin.
01:00The idea is simple, but powerful.
01:02Instead of wasting time crafting the perfect prompt
01:05or reminding Claude what you're working on,
01:07you give it the skills it needs once, and it remembers.
01:11The feature is rolling out to pro, max, team, and enterprise users.
01:14Brad Abrams, Anthropic's product lead,
01:17told The Verge that skills are basically about agents,
01:20a way for organizations to teach Claude
01:22to actually perform in their own contexts,
01:25not just ace generic AI benchmarks.
01:28It's about doing the task you need at your own company,
01:31Abrams said.
01:32As proof, he had Claude whip up a presentation
01:35on how Haiku 4.5 is doing in the market,
01:38which, he noted, came out as
01:40well-formatted slides that are easy to digest.
01:43This news drops weeks after OpenAI's Agent Kit reveal at Dev Day.
01:48OpenAI showcased Albertsons using an agent for sales dips,
01:51while Box, Canva, and Uber Eats also participated.
