00:00Justin Verlander makes announcement about his MLB future.
00:04What in the world is going on with Justin Verlander because the man is cooking?
00:09Seven scoreless innings he's saying, hey, maybe I'm not done yet.
00:13And if you're a Giants fan, this second half resurgence feels like watching an old action hero walk out of the flames unscathed.
00:21Somehow even better than before.
00:23Chase Field Phoenix. Giants vs. Diamondbacks.
00:27Verlander steps on the mound, 42 years old, a full career behind him, maybe one more shot left in the chamber.
00:35And what does he do? Just casually dominate.
00:39Seven shutout innings, just three hits allowed, two walks, and poof.
00:43Like that, he's got everybody remembering who the heck Justin Verlander is.
00:48Now hold on a second, because if you checked in on him a few months back, it was a different story.
00:54A brutal first half of the season.
00:56The numbers were ugly. An 0-8 record, a near-5 ERA. It was rough.
01:02It had people whispering, maybe this is it. Maybe the tank's empty.
01:07The guy flips the script and delivers a 0.87 ERA over his last five starts.
01:13That's not smoke and mirrors, that's 28 strikeouts in 31 innings.
01:16And here's where things get spicy. Verlander's on a one-year deal.
01:21Just $15 million. No contract for next season.
01:24Which means this winter, some front office somewhere is going to have a very interesting conversation
01:30that goes something like,
01:32Hey, you think we could get Verlander on a short-term deal?
01:35Because while 2026 would mark his 21st season in the majors,
01:39the man is pitching like he's got something to prove.
01:42Again.
01:43Remember, this isn't just a good pitcher we're talking about.
01:46This is a nine-time All-Star, a former Cy Young winner,
01:50a guy who's been the face of the mound for nearly two decades.
01:53And now?
01:55Now he's adding one more act to an already legendary career.
01:58So yeah, Justin Verlander's got his fastball back.
02:02And from the looks of it, he's got a whole lot more too.
