00:00A wave of silent tragedy has struck in some parts of Lagos State, leaving many with heavy
00:05hearts and unanswered questions.
00:08Five female council officials have passed away in just two months, prompting concerns
00:13and speculations across the state.
00:16The most recent loss of Adebinpe Akintola, council manager of Koka Aguda and chairman
00:22of the Forum of Council Managers in Lagos State, as a key figure in council's administration
00:28and accounting, her passing on Monday, September 29, hit hard.
00:33She was buried the same day according to the Islamic Rite, marking the fifth council official
00:38loss since the current administration began on July 27, 2025.
00:43Here is the timeline.
00:46On August 13, Oluwakemi Rufai, councillor for Ward C in Ibejuleki local government, passed
00:52away just two weeks after being sworn in.
00:55She was the only female councillor in her council.
00:58Five days later, on August 18, Seinab Shotao, the sole female councillor for Ward C in Odiyolo
01:05Ojuwoye LCD, died only three weeks into her term.
01:10The losses continued.
01:12On September 20, Princess Oluwakemi Adjose, vice chairman of Badagri West LCD, passed away
01:1955 days after taking office.
01:21The next day, September 21, Basirat Oluwakemi Mayabikon, councillor for Ward F in Shomolu
01:29local government, died just 56 days into her role.
01:33Five women, five deaths, all within two months.
01:37Across the streets of Lagos, people are voicing their shocks and concerns on social media,
01:42with many calling these losses unusual, even suspicious, wondering what could explain such
01:47a rapid succession of deaths among newly elected officials.
01:51Their spokesperson, Sheye Oladejo, stated,
01:54It was read in the news that they were indisposed.
01:57It has nothing to do with any kind of politics.
02:00This is a surprise.
02:01Wherever that is coming from demeans humanity if it is being looked at properly.
02:06Still, questions remain.
02:08Why have these five women, all serving in local government, passed away so suddenly?
02:14What does it mean when reports mention they were indisposed before their deaths?
02:18Lagos is in mourning.
02:20Adibinkbe Akintola, Oluwakemi Rufae, Zeinab Shotayo, Princess Oluwakemi Adjose, and Basirat
02:28Oluwakemi were dedicated leaders serving according to their community members.
02:33This is a time for sober reflection.
02:36Our thoughts and prayers with the family they left behind.
02:39May God rest their souls.
