00:03President Donald Trump plans to change the landscape of Washington, D.C.
00:07by erecting an arch that will serve as a gateway to the nation's capital.
00:10Trump unveiled his plans at a dinner Wednesday night to thank donors who contributed to his
00:15$250 million, 90,000-square-foot ballroom at the White House, per USA Today.
00:21The president showed three 3D models of a giant arch, which looked similar to Paris'
00:26imposing Arc de Triomphe.
00:27He said its proposed location is across from the Lincoln Memorial.
00:32That's Arlington Memorial Bridge, he said, pointing to a map.
00:35And at the end of it, you have a circle that was built 150 years ago.
00:41You have two columns on one side and two columns on the other, yet in the middle, just a circle.
00:48And everyone in the past had said something was supposed to be built there.
00:51But a thing called the Civil War interfered.
00:54That's a good reason.
00:55It's going to be really beautiful.
00:58I think it's going to be fantastic, Trump said, holding up the three models of the arch.
01:03The Hill reported,
01:04There's a rendering of what it will look like.
01:06You have three sizes.
01:08Whichever one would look good.
01:10I happen to think the large one, Trump said.
01:13Additional details were not revealed, including the cost and if the city okayed the project.
01:20A timeline was also not announced.
01:21Trump, a former real estate developer, has sought to put his mark on both the White House and D.C.
01:28For example, he paved over the grass in the Rose Garden, put in marble tile in the White House palm room,
01:33put up presidential portraits along the colonnade, and redecorated the Oval Office.
01:37He pointed to other presidents who spearheaded changes to the White House, per USA Today.
01:43James Monroe, who added the South Portico, to Andrew Jackson, who added the North Portico, to Theodore Roosevelt, who added the West Wing, he said.
01:53And Harry Truman, who added the Truman Balcony.
01:56It's so relaxing for me.
01:59Real estate is relaxing, he said.
02:01For a lot of people, real estate is a very trying business.
