00:00Trump responds to a report he is demanding $230 million pay from DOJ.
00:06President Donald Trump wants the Department of Justice to pay him $230 million because of two investigations into him.
00:14Trump confirmed Tuesday that he is seeking damages from the DOJ in one case because they rigged the election, the Daily Wire reported.
00:23Trump's legal team submitted the first complaint to the DOJ in 2023.
00:26This starts the process that could lead to a lawsuit.
00:31In that complaint, Trump seeks damages from the investigation into the 2016 election, alleging false ties between the president and Russia, according to the New York Times.
00:41The second complaint, filed in 2024, seeks damages following an investigation into how he handled classified documents and the FBI raid on Trump's Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago.
00:52Trump spoke about the matter to reporters about any possible compensation in the Oval Office.
00:59Well, I guess they probably owe me a lot of money for that, probably.
01:03That's true. That's very interesting, Trump said, permidiite.
01:08Despite not taking his presidential salary, Trump suggests compensation for litigation costs.
01:13If awarded funds, he intends to donate them to charity or White House restoration, Trump said.
01:21And we're doing a good job.
01:23As you know, the ballroom is under construction.
01:26Demolition of the East Wing of the White House started Monday to make room for a ballroom that comes with a $250 million price tag.
01:34Trump was indicted by grand juries for keeping classified documents after leaving the White House after his first term and for trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
01:45Trump pleaded not guilty to all counts.
01:48Following his re-election in 2024, charges were dismissed.
01:52He mentioned settlements with CBS and ABC receiving $16 million and $15 million, respectively, for wrongful actions.
02:00However, Trump noted the DOJ case is unique, saying,
02:05That decision would have to go across my desk, and it's awfully strange to make a decision where I'm paying myself.
