00:00Bruce Willis' wife's painful decision?
00:03Emma Hemming defends moving, dementia-stricken die-hard icon out of family home during his sad last days.
00:09In an interview with Diane Sawyer, the 47-year-old author and activist revealed that she has moved her husband, Bruce Willis,
00:17into a separate home near hers amid his battle with frontotemporal dementia.
00:21I knew, first and foremost, Bruce would want that for our daughters, Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, she said.
00:28On an August 26th ABC special, he would want them to be in a home that was more tailored to their needs, not his needs.
00:36For Bruce, those needs now require around-the-clock care.
00:39The whole family was very much involved, a source told RadarOnline.com, including Demi Moore, the actor's ex-wife, and their daughters.
00:48The 70-year-old was diagnosed with a degenerative brain disorder in 2023.
00:53There had been signs he was struggling.
00:54The diagnosis provided answers, but left the family without hope, as there is no treatment or cure.
01:01Bruce is in really great health overall, Emma added.
01:04It's just his brain that is failing him.
01:06The family has learned to communicate differently.
01:09We get moments, said Emma.
01:11Sometimes you'll see that twinkle in his eye.
01:13Emma has written The Unexpected Journey, out September 9th,
01:17and partnered with the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
01:20She visits Bruce often.
01:23It is a house filled with love and warmth and care and laughter.
01:26It's been beautiful to see how many of Bruce's friends continue to show up for him, shared the source.
01:31They're prepared.
