00:00As elections approach nationwide, all eyes are on New York's mayoral race.
00:05Younger voters are a growing force, but they're not always easy to mobilize.
00:10Zoran Mamdani is putting on a full court press to change that.
00:23The mayoral candidate made a surprise appearance at Pink Panther S's tour opener this weekend.
00:29Standing in the crowd with Our Time Has Come and Vote November 4th written on his palms.
00:35The moment drew cheers and went viral.
00:38A Manhattan Institute poll ahead of the Democratic primary in June showed that 60% of 18-34-year-old voters in New York considered him their first choice for mayor.
00:49Throughout the campaign, his strategy has been clear, meet young voters where they already are.
00:54Events like the Pink Panther S concert are where the fan base is skewed younger, and he made a similar surprise appearance at last month's All Things Go Festival, where he joined performer Lucy Dacus on stage.
01:08And what's another thing younger people love, especially in New York?
01:16Fashion, streetwear, and merch.
01:19Free merch at that.
01:20His campaign ran a pop-up screen printing shop in Manhattan, where volunteers were given free totes, tees, and stickers as he walked the streets to meet the voters.
01:31But it's not all merch and music.
01:33Policy still has to land, and Mamdani's been sharing the stage with people like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,
01:41filling a 13,000-seat arena for his New York Is Not For Sale rally on Sunday.
01:45But we must remember, in a time such as this, we are not the crazy ones, New York City.
01:55We are not the outlandish ones, New York City.
01:59With early voting underway, New Yorkers head to the polls November 4th.
02:04Mamdani faces Republican Curtis Sliwa and Independent Andrew Cuomo.
