00:00We had over a billion impressions around the world, and what we did, we generated a conversation that wasn't happening in the U.S.
00:07Now, every single local media, every large media, medium-sized media in the U.S. is talking about it.
00:13So is every governor, senator, and congressman and woman, not only nationally, but statewide.
00:20And the message is very clear. Protectionism does not work.
00:25And that's the message we have to the American people.
00:28And we're the third-largest trading partner in the world, Ontario, is.
00:33And I wanted to get the message out there.
00:36We achieved our goal, and now we paused it.
00:39My intention was never to poke the president in the eye.
00:43My intention was to inform the American people.
00:46This is serious, and it's going to cost you jobs if we don't have a fair trade deal with your closest friend and ally with Canada.
00:54Well, no, my main focus and my intention was to inform the American people, and we achieved that goal.
01:01He saw the ad before I put it out, so did his chief of staff.
01:05They both saw it, and we moved forward on it.
01:08But again, we achieved our goal.
01:11You know, as we say, mission accomplished.
01:12It was done.
01:13They're talking about it in the U.S., and they weren't talking about it before I put the ad on.
01:19So I'm glad that Ronald Reagan was a free trader.
01:22Well, again, if it wasn't the ad, he'd look out the door or the window of President Trump and say,
01:27oh, the leaves have turned colour.
01:30Let's stop.
01:31Believe me, President Trump is not putting a deal together to benefit Canada.
01:35It's our job.
01:36It's the Prime Minister's job to get a deal that benefits all of Canada.
01:41My job is to protect jobs here in Ontario.
01:44Canada is an economic powerhouse.
01:47You know, we know one thing.
01:48We know the Americans need our oil.
01:50They need our potash.
01:51They need our uranium.
01:53They need our nickel.
01:54They do need our steel.
01:55They need our aluminum, and they need the manufacturing might of Ontario.
02:00We know that.
02:01So I wouldn't ever negotiate through weakness.
02:04I'd negotiate through strength.
02:06That's what President Trump respects.
02:09He's seen the whole world roll over.
02:11I'll tell you, I'm not going to roll over.
02:13I'll never roll over from standing up for the people of Ontario.
02:17That's my job.
