00:00Thought you were tired of all the new social media apps?
00:03Well get ready for another one!
00:05OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is rolling out an app similar to TikTok,
00:11except every video is AI generated.
00:16Wired first reported that OpenAI is launching Sora 2,
00:20and the company announced it themselves Tuesday afternoon.
00:30Users can't upload content from their camera rolls.
00:33Instead, they'll create clips up to 10 seconds with the video model.
00:37A feature also lets users place their likeness into videos and connect with friends inside the app.
00:43Of course, TikTok has already been flooded with AI-generated videos for months,
00:48so the concept isn't completely new.
00:50Back in June, SAN reported that TikTok rolled out more generative AI features for advertisers,
00:56including image-to-video, text-to-video, and product showcases.
01:01Let's say you're starting from scratch with no content.
01:05Don't sweat it. The text-to-video tool helps you create a scene.
01:10With competitors like Google's Gemini VO,
01:12many TikTok users are already testing out AI characters on their own.
01:16Bonnaroo just got canceled. Guess we're all VIPs in the mud spa now.
01:21The AI race is picking up speed.
01:24Last week, Meta dropped Vibes, a short-form video feed.
01:28Google has also integrated VO into YouTube.
01:31And starting Tuesday, users can officially download Sora 2.
01:36With Straight Arrow news, I'm Kennedy Felton.
