00:00Before I took over Garden City was a great program.

00:03I've been lucky enough to be in the program since 1999,

00:06learn from the legend Tom Flatley.

00:08And honestly, my goal is to just keep the train on the track.

00:12We've had some great games, some great battles.

00:15And they're all a little bit different, but they're all special.

00:19Trying to prepare one week at a time.

00:21We have a tough opponent Saturday in Long Beach.

00:24They're returning a lot of players from last year.

00:26And honestly, that's our only focus right now is Long Beach on Saturday.

00:31I'm trying to win every game I possibly can.

00:35We try not to concern ourselves when the past wins, 10 years ago, I was seven.

00:40That's not even like, I don't even know any of the guys on that team.

00:44That's not always something I'm worried about.

00:45I'm worried about winning like week one, week two, and so on.

00:47We have a pretty high standard here.

00:50I think it's all due credit to our coaching staff and

00:53how they push us to work hard.

00:55Everyone here knows like what must be done.

00:58Everyone's gotta work hard to get it done.

01:00You know, Garden City, playing football especially, it means a lot to us.

01:05We owe it to the guys before us to give it everything and

01:08practice every single day and work.

01:11They have provided winning games and

01:15kind of a model that we need to shape in and mold into as we get older and

01:20become the players that they were once were.

01:22We have a system and we kind of stick to it.

01:25The practices are similar.

01:27Preparation for each game is similar and it's been working.

01:31So we're staying with it.

01:33We like to use our brains a lot here.

01:35We might not be the biggest, but we get the ball fast.

01:39We really use our brains a lot to cite for defenses and stuff.

01:45You gotta be locked in on both sides of the ball.

01:47You have to really pay attention on defense and offense.

01:52You gotta remember the plays, remember the sets of the other teams,

01:55remember certain special things that we do against other teams.

01:58So yeah, it takes a lot.

02:00We drive as a really big point of, point of emphasis for us.

02:03You know, nobody, nobody expects to win.

02:05Everyone knows that we're gonna have to work as hard as we can.

02:08And you know, we all wanna win and

02:09we all also know that we have to work as hard as we can to win.

02:12I think it's just very important to the kids.

02:16We have smart kids.

02:17We don't have a lot of college football players.

02:20Most of our kids go to college to play lacrosse and, you know,

02:23they love football during football season.

02:26And they give us every ounce of effort that they have throughout the entire season.

02:30We try to motivate each other as much as possible, you know, we'll help guys out.

02:35You know, older guys kind of take a leadership role.

02:37And if anyone's feeling down, you know, we just try to talk to them,

02:40talk them through it and try to get them hyped up.

02:43Football, I'm spending, I'm spending three hours a day at practice with all my,

02:46all my best friends every single day.

02:49It's fun, you know, it's, it's fun to win, but there's always,

02:52there's always better teams, there's always fair games to look forward to down the line.

02:56So we just try and stay dialed on what we can do.

02:59I think we have a really good team.

03:01Obviously the standards to win a championship.

03:05And I think we got a good group of guys here.

03:07I mean, it would mean everything to me.

03:09I've been working at this since I was a freshman and yeah,

03:13it would mean a lot to keep the legacy going and just live up to the people

03:19before me that came from this program.

03:21They grow up in this community as part of this program and it is,

03:25it's a lot of pressure on them to see these teams have the success before them.

03:29Each team is different, each senior group is different.

03:32And now these guys have, you know,

03:34waited for their opportunity to try to continue the tradition.

03:38I'm lucky that I got a job here with such hardworking students.

03:43I have an amazing staff and you know, it's just, it's gone well so far.
