00:00Emotions ran high as the final 20 Israeli hostages reunited with their families on October 13th.
00:10But behind the embraces, the truth about the isolation, starvation, and abuse that the
00:15hostages endured during their two years in Hamas captivity is now coming out.
00:19The family of Israeli Defense Forces soldier Matan Ingress revealed chilling details of
00:24his ordeal after he was taken as prisoner from his military tank on October 7th, 2023.
00:30The now 22-year-old was once beaten so savagely by his captors that he blacked out.
00:35During the last four months of captivity, he was confined to a dark tunnel.
00:39Amid IDF airstrikes on Gaza, tunnel walls collapsed around him, and many times they found themselves
00:45buried in dust under the rubble, trying to climb out and survive.
00:48Another freed hostage, Ariel Cuneo, said he was kept in complete isolation for his entire
00:53captivity.
00:54Other hostages were held underground for months at a time, deprived of daylight and basic
00:59sanitation.
01:00Ron Breslovsky, now 21, was also held alone.
01:04He was starved, shackled, and forced to sleep barefoot on cold ground.
01:08Israel's Channel 13 News said many hostages were never given shoes and that some were kept
01:13chained continuously.
01:15Survivors also revealed that Hamas guards ate in front of them while they went hungry.
01:19In another terrifying account, the family of Alain O'Hel, age 24, said a few weeks ago he
01:25was moved to a new tunnel under Gaza City to act as a human shield.
01:30As for 48-year-old Omri Moran, he kept his spirit alive over the 738 days in captivity,
01:36according to a report by E-Net.
01:38Sometimes he cooked food for his captors, and they liked his cooking, and the hostages spent
01:43most of their time playing cards with their captors.
01:45Despite the ordeal, Omri's humor and cognitive health remained intact.
01:50Doctors say many of the 20 hostages suffered from extreme malnutrition, respiratory infections,
01:55and skin conditions caused by years in dark, humid tunnels.
01:59Recovery is expected to take months.
02:01The hostages are on restricted diets to prevent refeeding complications and remain under close
02:06psychiatric supervision.
02:08Under the U.S. and Egypt-brokered ceasefire deal, Israel exchanged roughly 2,000 Palestinian
02:13prisoners, and the remains of about 360 Palestinians.
