Malaysia, South Africa will continue to voice Gaza issue on world stage, say leaders

Malaysia and South Africa have pledged to continue voicing support for Gaza and advocating for justice for the Palestinian people on the global stage.  Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa made the commitment during a joint press conference at the Seri Perdana Complex on Saturday (Oct 25).  Ramaphosa likened the Palestinian struggle to South Africa’s fight against apartheid, saying his country would persist in seeking justice for Palestine just as the world once united to condemn apartheid as a crime against humanity. 00:32more so up to Gaza. They are a very prominent player in the Hague initiative in the ICC and of course on

00:41behalf of Malaysia generally. I must also express my profound gratitude for this courage to defend

00:54what is right. Our support for Palestine was not just a fanciful act. It is born out of our own

01:02experience during our consultation of meat bilateral. You did mention that the concept of

01:11apartheid is also what we see being practiced in that part of the world and it is this that has

01:20motivated South Africa to raise our complaint to the International Court of Justice, a move that you

01:34have supported us in, much as it has been risky and fraught with a lot of opposition. But we thank

01:43you for acknowledging that it was a courageous move on our part and we will continue to seek justice for

01:53the people of Palestine like the world so sought to seek justice for us as South Africans when they also

02:02went to the United Nations to declare apartheid a crime against humanity.
