00:00Prince George is second in line to the UK throne.
00:03Imagine growing up knowing that.
00:05That's why, to protect his childhood, Prince William and Kate Middleton allegedly delayed
00:10telling their eldest child that he would one day be crowned the King of England.
00:14In an interview with People magazine, royal biographer Robert Lacey divulged William and
00:19Kate's parenting tactic with their 12-year-old son, sharing that George really has had a
00:24period of a normal childhood.
00:27Lacey claimed that William delayed telling George of his fate to rule until the last
00:31possible moment, adding, quote,
00:33It shows special care and thoughtfulness.
00:36It also tells us something about how William felt about the weight of the crown.
00:40Lacey suggested that William has been careful with his word choice so as not to make the
00:44child feel pressure surrounding royal expectations.
00:47William is next in line of succession to the throne after his father, King Charles III,
00:52who was crowned in 2023.
00:54Experts have speculated that William is close to becoming monarch, following news of his
00:58father's cancer diagnosis in February of 2024.
01:02Sources have claimed that William may hold off passing down the Prince of Wales title to
01:06George if the preteen doesn't complete finishing school before he becomes the next heir.
01:11A palace source told the magazine they would want him to focus on having freedom before giving
01:16him any royal titles.
01:17Well, if that isn't motivation to get good grades, I don't know what is.
01:22No pressure, Georgie.
