00:00The President will be participating in the 47th ASEAN Summit and related summits,
00:08all happening in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from October 26 to 28, 2025.
00:16The President will be joined by leaders of other ASEAN member states,
00:22ASEAN dialogue partners, and international organizations
00:26at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Datoseri Anwar Ibrahim,
00:33who serves as this year's ASEAN Chair.
00:37The summit is a mechanism for leaders to provide policy direction for ASEAN,
00:44build consensus on matters of mutual interest,
00:48and exchange views on key regional and international issues.
00:53The President is expected to attend 14 leaders-level meetings
01:01and three signing ceremonies.
01:07Some of the meetings that the President will attend are shown on the screen.
01:11Next, the President will be signing the declaration on the admission of Timor-Leste into ASEAN
01:23as its 11th member.
01:27He will also witness the signing of the second protocol
01:30to amend the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement, or ATIGA,
01:36and the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area 3.0 upgrade.
01:42In all these engagements,
01:45the President will advance Philippine interests in ASEAN
01:49by strengthening security and stability,
01:53enhancing economic cooperation,
01:55and broadening engagement with dialogue partners.
02:01The leaders are also expected to discuss various global issues
02:06that impact the region and beyond.
02:10These include the situation in Myanmar,
02:14the economic uncertainty,
02:16and other geopolitical and geoeconomic challenges
02:20that affect the region.
02:22Next,
02:26to date,
02:27there are 80 outcome documents
02:30that are expected to be issued,
02:33adopted,
02:34or noted during the summits.

02:40The President will likely have a number of bilateral meetings
02:49with his counterparts
02:50at the sidelines of the summits.
02:54Finally,
02:55during the last day of the summit,
02:58on October 28,
03:00there will be a closing
03:01and handover ceremony
03:04of the ASEAN chairship
03:06from Malaysia to the Philippines.
03:08Building upon the success
03:12of previous ASEAN chairs,
03:15the Philippines will take this opportunity
03:17to introduce how we will steer
03:20the future of the region
03:22and beyond
03:23by galvanizing community-building efforts
03:26during our chairship.
