00:00Giliermo del Toro has finally arrived at the Venice Film Festival with his highly anticipated Frankenstein.
00:08His personal reworking of Mariceli's novel is a Netflix production with a top-notch cast.
00:15Oscar Isaac, Jacoby, Mia Gott and Christoph Walls among others.
00:20What can I say?
00:22Perhaps the film that we all would have liked to see Giliermo del Toro make and with a Giacoblorti who is simply new to the role of the creature.
00:30Is a truly meticulous work on movement and especially on vocal modulation.
00:40If you are a fan of the gothic fantasy universes created by del Toro, you will certainly find something to suit your taste, but also a good dose of that poignant romanticism that distinguished is The Shape of Water, which won the Golden Lion here in Venice.
00:53Despite the starting point being already known, it is an extremely dynamic film.
01:02Indeed, to quote del Toro himself, it is a film that changes every 10 minutes.
01:07It is a film of points of view and very elegant dialogues.
01:10There is a refinement in the representation of the idea of monstrosity that is simply moving.
01:17Clearly, del Toro's craftsmanship is absolutely impeccable.
01:35So in terms of casing design, sets, costumes, is a wonderful spectacle.
01:40But overall the feeling is that of a deeply personal gaze that, like all of del Toro's films, engages directly with our contemporary world and, above all, invites us to put Mariscelli's novel on the shelf with great respect and enjoy this new perspective directly on the screen, which is what every adaptation or film inspired by literature should perhaps do.
02:05Yeah.
02:10Yeah.
