00:00The Proud Rose
00:07Once, in a desert where no life could survive, a miracle took place.
00:14Out bloomed a beautiful, mesmerizing rose.
00:18It was a tiny bud that bloomed into a tiny flower.
00:22Though it was yet to have all its petals, it was the most beautiful thing anybody had ever seen.
00:30Just beside the rose, there grew two cactuses.
00:36Their names were Ted and Moss.
00:40Ted was a short cactus, and Moss was a tall one.
00:45They had their own unique shapes and were very happy to have a rose between them.
00:52Isn't it magical to have a rose bloom between us?
00:57It sure is, Ted.
00:59Ted, it truly is.
01:01Wait!
01:02Why don't we name her Magic?
01:06Oh, that's a wonderful name.
01:09Magic.
01:10And thus, the beautiful rose was named Magic.
01:14Magic was not a normal rose, and the two cactuses knew it well.
01:20She was growing too slow for any normal flower.
01:24And for the joy of Ted and Moss, it seemed like she was there to stay for a very long time.
01:31As a child, Magic was the most mischievous one.
01:36She would pinch Moss and put the blame on Ted.
01:39Will you cut that now, Ted?
01:43This trick is old.
01:45What trick?
01:46Are you talking about me drinking the water stored inside of myself?
01:51That's not a trick, boy.
01:53That's how I survive.
01:55Keep drinking the water inside of yourself.
01:58That's all.
01:59Yuck.
02:01That's disgusting.
02:03Do what you want.
02:05Just stop telling me and stop pinching me.
02:09Pinching you?
02:10Great goodness.
02:11Did you fall asleep with your eyes open again?
02:14Don't you dare play that card.
02:19It happened once, and I was tired.
02:23Yeah, right.
02:24Tired of what, genius?
02:26Of standing in the middle of the desert?
02:29Why don't you take a little walk then?
02:32Your roots, your rules.
02:35Oh, just stop pinching me, all right?
02:38I'm not pinching you.
02:41Stop dreaming with your eyes open.
02:44The cactuses would argue for hours over it.
02:48Nobody would ever accuse the tiny, innocent Rose.
02:54Both Ted and Moss, being cactuses, had ample water stored in them.
03:01They would each give some water to Magic and help her stay healthy.
03:06They both loved Magic dearly and never told her that if she didn't drink enough water, she would die.
03:12Months passed, and Magic grew up.
03:16She bloomed to be the most beautiful flower upon Earth.
03:21She had layers and layers of petals, and was bright red in color.
03:26Surprisingly, she grew taller than Ted, but was still shorter than Moss.
03:33Both the cactuses were very proud of their magic.
03:37Her roots spread under the sand and held her posture strong on the surface.
03:44Moss would give her a shower whenever she asked for, and Ted would big-heartedly open his branch and let her drink water when she got thirsty.
03:53Nothing changed.
03:55She loved both her friends.
03:58Months passed, and the desert finally had a visitor.
04:03He was a tourist on a camel.
04:05What?
04:07A rose?
04:08In the desert?
04:10This is the most magical and beautiful thing I have ever seen.
04:19The tourist went closer and examined the flower.
04:24He then took out a bowl of water and kept it in front of Magic.
04:28You must be so thirsty, you little flower.
04:32Wait, let me find my little spray.
04:35It's time to give you a bath.
04:37But Magic wasn't listening.
04:40She was mesmerized at what she saw in the bowl of water.
04:45It was her reflection.
04:49I am the most beautiful flower indeed.
04:53Look at that straight posture.
04:55Oh, the bright red color, the thick petals.
04:59I look amazing.
05:02All this while, I thought I looked like Ted and Moss.
05:05I thought I needed them, but no.
05:08They need me.
05:09I make them look attractive.
05:13The tourist found his spray, dipped it in the bowl of water, and sprayed droplets on Magic.
05:20The droplets made Magic look even more magical.
05:25Oh my, oh my, look at me.
05:32Mmm, this flower is beautiful.
05:37Oh, thank you, stranger.
05:39I am sure I will be paid a handsome reward if I uproot this flower and take it with me.
05:46You would love to see the city, wouldn't you?
05:52The city?
05:53Of course I would love to see the city.
05:58Oh, what is this wound on your stem?
06:02Ah, it must be these cactuses.
06:04You deserve to be put in a garden, securely, for everyone to come see you.
06:11The tourist didn't know that the wound came from the fact that Magic had to bend to drink water from Ted.
06:18He also didn't know that she would possibly not survive if uprooted and taken from where she belongs.
06:26Wait, let me uproot you.
06:29But both the cactuses knew it.
06:32They knew that the city was far, far away.
06:36Magic was a magical flower indeed, and yet she was just a rose.
06:42She couldn't possibly survive the long journey through this rough desert.
06:46They knew that once uprooted, Magic would not live for long.
06:52Without thinking twice, they bruised the tourist as he came closer to uproot the rose.
06:58Ah, how dare you, you stupid cactuses!
07:03In rage and pain, the tourist punched Moss.
07:07But being a cactus, absolutely no harm was done to him.
07:11Instead, the tourist was bruised some more because of the thorns.
07:16Ah!
07:18Hee hee!
07:19Who's stupid now, human?
07:22Good one, Mossy!
07:24The tourist couldn't hear the cactuses laugh at him.
07:28But he assumed that they must be.
07:30This made him more furious, and he kicked Ted.
07:34But yet again...
07:35Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!
07:40He needs to stop!
07:43The tourist sadly sat on his camel.
07:46And left.
07:47Ted and Moss both laughed heartily.
07:50But Magic didn't.
07:52How dare you both!
07:54Why are you so jealous of me?
07:57Jealous?
07:58Magic, you don't understand.
08:01He was taking you only for his own benefit.
08:05He wouldn't have cared for you.
08:07Who are you to decide what's right for me?
08:10You two are ugly cactuses.
08:13I am the most beautiful flower on this planet.
08:17Didn't you hear?
08:18I should be securely kept in a garden for people to come see me.
08:23Magic, don't be so proud of yourself.
08:27Why not?
08:29What's so special about you two?
08:32Uh, we can hold water for years.
08:36How do you think you are surviving?
08:38But Magic wasn't listening.
08:42She kept complaining and insulting the two cactuses.
08:46She vowed that she would never bend to drink water from Ted.
08:50She didn't want to hurt her beautiful neck.
08:54Really?
08:55You will never drink water?
08:57Fine.
08:58Ted, we have done enough for her.
09:01She should fend for herself now.
09:05Both the cactuses hardened themselves and stopped talking to Magic.
09:10They were very angry at her for how arrogant she suddenly behaved.
09:17Magic was very happy for the first few days.
09:20The water in her roots was being used to keep her fresh.
09:24She didn't look at either of the cactuses and always kept herself arched up.
09:29But a week later, she began to feel weak.
09:34She still tried to stand straight, for she didn't want to show her weakness to the cactuses.
09:40But as all the water in her roots was being used up, her insides were giving away and she began to pant.
09:48Magic, lose your pride and drink some water.
09:53Yes, Magic, you will still be the most beautiful flower after drinking some water.
10:01No, I will not bend.
10:09One more day passed and Magic was now completely bent.
10:15She was dizzy and weak.
10:17She began to cry.
10:19Why is this happening to me?
10:24Because you need water to survive, you proud flower.
10:30Please, let us help you.
10:34You still want to help me?
10:36I didn't want to bend, but nature made me.
10:42I have realized my mistake.
10:45I have been terrible to both of you.
10:48I deserve this.
10:50I am so sorry.
10:53Without wasting a minute, both Ted and Moss showered water on Magic.
10:58It took some time, but Magic was finally standing on her roots again.
11:05Oh, I am so sorry.
11:08Will you both ever forgive me?
11:10You were already forgiven our little Magic.
11:15The three plants were happy again.
11:19Magic had realized her mistake.
11:22Pride is a very expensive emotion.
11:25If we are too proud of ourselves,
11:27we must be ready to pay a very heavy price for it.
11:31Two types of gratefulness.
11:51We must be ready to pay you
