00:00The Greedy Milkman
00:05Once upon a time, in a small village, lived Henry and his wife, Gloria.
00:14Henry was a milkman.
00:16Together, the husband and the wife owned a cow shed.
00:20The couple used to take care of all their cows.
00:24They fed them good hay and nursed them well.
00:26Due to this, all of Henry's cows would produce excellent quality of milk.
00:34Everybody in the village would only buy milk from Henry.
00:39Henry and Gloria earned well and led a good life.
00:44But despite of that, Henry was not happy.
00:48He always dreamt of buying a big house and expensive clothes.
00:53I saw a big house on the outskirts of our village.
00:57We should buy that.
00:59We can get a very expensive car and many servants to serve us.
01:04We will wear the most expensive clothes.
01:08And all these poor villagers will be jealous of us.
01:12This greed will take you nowhere.
01:14We earn enough and we should be happy with what we have.
01:17How can you be happy in this small house, in this cow shed?
01:24Oh, the smell of these cows is just too much.
01:28But this is our livelihood.
01:31Not for long.
01:33Mark my words.
01:35Someday, I will be the richest man in this whole village.
01:40Ah.
01:40Each day, as Henry went to sell milk, the villagers would praise him.
01:49Henry, this milk is so good and healthy.
01:53You must be taking such good care of your cows.
01:57Ah, yes.
01:58Yes, I do.
02:00But not for long.
02:02Once I become rich, I will sell all those cows.
02:05I don't like that smell in my house.
02:09But these cows are your livelihood.
02:12You shouldn't complain about your work.
02:15It helps you survive.
02:17I sell eggs for a living.
02:19That is a smelly job too.
02:21But I don't mind it.
02:23That's my work.
02:25Well, well, well.
02:27Then maybe you are meant to sell eggs.
02:30But I am meant to do bigger things.
02:34To buy expensive items and expensive clothes.
02:39This greed will take you nowhere, my friend.
02:42The sooner you understand that, the better.
02:46Bah.
02:46I've wasted enough time here.
02:49All the best with your little smelly eggy business.
02:54Goodbye.
02:54Henry was in a hurry to earn more money.
03:02He would often try to find a way to become rich.
03:06That's it?
03:07This is very less.
03:09How do I sell more milk?
03:11There has to be some way.
03:14Hmm.
03:15My cows are all healthy.
03:17I can push them to give us more milk.
03:20Also, this is a small village.
03:23Even if I get more milk, who will I sell it to?
03:28Wait.
03:29I can go to the neighboring village.
03:32There are many families there.
03:35Ah.
03:36But then I will have to buy another cow.
03:39And right now, I don't have enough money for that.
03:43No.
03:44I have to do something.
03:46I will buy a bigger house.
03:49Let's see.
03:50I don't have enough money to buy another cow.
03:53But then I have to increase the quantity of milk.
03:57How do I do that?
04:00As he walked ahead, he came across a river.
04:04Finally, overwhelmed with greed, Henry had an idea.
04:09How about I mix a little water in the milk?
04:13That way, I won't have to buy another cow.
04:16And at the same time, I will be able to sell milk to the neighboring village.
04:23Oh, this is a brilliant idea.
04:26Nobody would notice if I had just a little water in it.
04:31And that's what Henry did.
04:34The next morning, Henry began to fill his containers with milk.
04:39But this time, he only filled them half and left.
04:44He then stopped at the river and added a little water in it.
04:47That day, just like always, the villagers happily bought milk from Henry and paid him the same amount.
04:54Due to the added water, there was more milk left with Henry, which he sold in the neighboring village.
05:00That night, Henry was very happy.
05:05This is great.
05:07If I carry on like this, I will become very rich soon.
05:12He was right.
05:14Days passed and Henry was now richer than before.
05:17He bought a car for himself and renovated his house.
05:22He was so used to adding water to the milk that he didn't think of buying another cow even once.
05:28As the demand for milk increased, so did the water in it.
05:33This went on for weeks.
05:36But then the villagers began to notice.
05:39There was chatter in the village about the new watery milk.
05:44Wanting to know the truth, a few villagers gathered outside Henry's house.
05:50What's the matter?
05:52Henry, we have some complaints about the milk you sell.
05:55It tastes like water.
05:59What?
06:00How dare you say that?
06:02We pay for milk, Henry, not water.
06:05You can't fool us anymore.
06:07Nothing has changed.
06:09You all cannot appreciate the goodness.
06:12I work really hard.
06:15Go buy from somewhere else if you don't like it.
06:18I don't need you.
06:20I have many other villages who love the milk I sell.
06:27Henry darted inside the house and slammed the door.
06:31The villagers were shocked at Henry's rude behavior.
06:35Something isn't right.
06:38I agree.
06:38We have to find out.
06:40They all planned to find out the truth.
06:44The next morning, Henry, as usual, walked towards the river.
06:49He opened his half-filled containers and filled water in it.
06:53But little did he know that he was being watched.
06:57How dare he?
07:00This is not fair.
07:03This is how he is getting richer.
07:06He has the same number of cows, and yet he is selling milk to so many families.
07:12The villagers understood the whole thing and decided to teach the greedy milkman a lesson.
07:20The next day, Gloria went to the market to buy pulses.
07:26That night, as Henry came back from work, they both sat down for dinner.
07:33Huh?
07:34What is that?
07:36Did you cook on the stones?
07:38Stones?
07:40No.
07:40These are pulses.
07:42No, they are not.
07:44I don't believe this.
07:47The vendor sold you some old stones along with the pulses.
07:51How dare he?
07:53I will go see him tomorrow.
07:56That night, Henry and Gloria went to bed on an empty stomach.
08:02Henry angrily went to the vendor the next morning.
08:06What did you sell us?
08:07We didn't pay for stones.
08:09We paid for pulses.
08:10Go buy from somewhere else if you don't like it.
08:14I don't need you.
08:17Henry angrily went back home.
08:19After a while, he went out to buy a dozen eggs.
08:23When he came back home and tried to break them, he realized that ten of the twelve eggs were rocks.
08:30He was furious.
08:31What did you sell me?
08:34I paid for eggs, not rocks.
08:38The same way that we paid for milk and not water?
08:43Go buy from somewhere else if you don't like it.
08:47I don't need you.
08:48Henry left angrily.
08:51The next day, he bought a silk shirt.
08:55On his way home, it began to rain.
08:59Water washed away all the color of his shirt.
09:02When he reached home, he realized the shirt was not made of silk, but of jute.
09:07This went on for a few days.
09:11Each time Henry went out to buy something, he would come home with something different.
09:18I am tired of this.
09:19Why can't they sell us the right thing?
09:22They are fooling us.
09:24This isn't fair.
09:26Henry was so busy thinking about himself and his greed that he didn't realize he had done the same thing with others.
09:34Over time, even the neighboring villages began to complain.
09:40Slowly, everybody stopped buying milk from Henry.
09:45With no money left to spend, Henry began to sell off items which he had bought out of selling low-quality milk.
09:54Now Henry was a poor milkman.
09:57He had only a handful of cows left and only a few houses which he could sell milk.
10:03Now you realize what you have done.
10:06Your greed is the reason we are poor.
10:09Had you continued to sell in good milk the way you used to,
10:12we could have bought a bigger house and expensive clothes someday.
10:16All you had to do is keep patience and continue working hard.
10:21I agree, Gloria.
10:23I should have listened to you.
10:25I didn't just lose my money.
10:29I also lost respect and trust of the people.
10:35Henry continued to sell milk and tend to his cows.
10:40He knew now how dangerous greed can be.
10:43He had learned his lesson.
10:45From that day on, he never added water to the milk and stayed happy with what he earned.
10:51He's a good friend to sell milk to him.
