The movie interweaves the lives of three key characters in a small Canadian town:

Catherine (Carrie-Anne Moss) is a suburban mother who, following the death of her elder son, is emotionally shut down and disconnected from her husband and surviving son.

Roy (Kevin Zegers) is a teenage boy grappling with his emerging sexuality in a community that is unaccepting.

Dave (Callum Keith Rennie) is a man recently released from prison, attempting to rebuild his life and reconnect with his son, while facing the stigma of his past.

These three lives collide around a tragic accident that happened two years earlier and that none of them have fully processed. The film explores how each of them deals (or fails to deal) with identity, loss, acceptance, secrecy, and the concept of what is considered “normal”.
