00:00If they don't want to move, he's going to run straight into the tide of killing.
00:06Not much for the roadies coming in and out of these places.
00:10This is where Beneath is going to go wrong, and we'll go wrong.
00:15Whoa!
00:17Burley went by this.
00:18They're really, really dangerous.
00:30Hey, Dale, you've just got to come back over here and just pallet, mate.
00:34Yeah.
00:36The load I'm doing today is fuel and general freight.
00:41Most of the people I deliver to run cattle stations and sheep stations.
00:48Robbie Adams is loading up for a critical journey,
00:52getting vital supplies to livestock farmers
00:54in the parched outback north of Broken Hill.
00:57They were waiting urgently for fuel to run their pumps.
01:01Everyone's running short on water.
01:03I'll end up with seven drops all up, which will roughly take three days.
01:09From his base in Broken Hill,
01:12Robbie will follow the highway for just 56 kilometres
01:15and then go bush on rough dirt tracks,
01:18dropping supplies at several remote stations
01:21before looping around to the small township of Whiteclips
01:25and heading back home three days later.
01:27The biggest concern I've got,
01:29we put a new hub on this trailer,
01:32and this is its first trip.
01:34So we've just got to check that,
01:36make sure it doesn't run hot.
01:38This over here is a result of that same problem.
01:42Wrecked a tyre, which is near new.
01:45That last trip that trailer done,
01:46we've virtually done it for nothing.
01:48That's what you're up against.
01:50If you don't like that,
01:51well, you just don't be out here doing it.
01:53About ready?
01:55Just about ready to go, babe.
01:57There you go.
01:57You've got morning tea, afternoon tea.
02:00I've got the lot, eh?
02:01Tea, tea.
02:02Enough for three days.
02:04Shouldn't you every night?
02:05Yeah.
02:05Okay.
02:06Okay?
02:07Bye.
02:08There's a lot of distance between where one station and another station.
02:12Anything could happen out there,
02:14I can tell you that.
02:16The roads are crap.
02:17I've been doing this since I was 18 and I'm 63 now.
02:26I've been brought and read into it.
02:28My grandfather started while I was only a little boy.
02:32I used to come out here with him.
02:36I suppose it's been in the family for near 100 years.
02:41Being an owner-operator, it's very, very costly.
02:45When something goes wrong, it's not hundreds of dollars.
02:50It's in the thousands.
02:52The hub we just done, that was around $5,000.
02:57I've blown a gearbox.
02:59That's $18,000.
03:01We've rebuilt the motor, which is $90,000.
03:05And it just goes on and on.
03:08Good way to put it.
03:09You always know when you're going to break down,
03:11you've got some money in the bank.
03:12You're only going to stay there.
03:15From here on, you've got to really watch the wildlife.
03:20You've got emus that come straight at you.
03:24You've got goats.
03:26Kangaroos are shocking.
03:27They'll take airlines.
03:29They'll take hubcaps off.
03:31They do some damage.
03:32That was close, that one.
03:44He's very lucky.
03:45It's quite an easy day.
03:48Demis, they're queer.
03:50They run across the road.
03:53You think they're gone,
03:54and then all of a sudden,
03:55they'll come straight back at you again.
03:57I love animals.
03:59I don't like her.
04:04I just love driving trucks.
04:07Out there open, you're doing your own thing.
04:10Oh, every day is different, put it that way.
04:12You never know what you're going to see.
04:15Shit.
04:16Just notice the strat dragging.
04:18You can go under the wheel
04:21and take some of your load out.
04:30They're taking the light off this side
04:32and take two outriggers off this side.
04:35Otherwise, we're over 5.5.
04:37We're moving a cabin
04:39that's 5.5 metres wide.
04:42It'll sit about 4.8 metres high on the truck.
04:46Weighs around 13, 14 tonnes.
04:48Oversized specialist Robbie Bush
04:52is responsible for hauling
04:54$200,000 worth of luxury cabin
04:57across Victoria.
05:00There's a lot of costs if we damage them.
05:02Trees, power lines, parked cars, signs.
05:07Customers don't like paying for scratch hours.
05:09No damage.
05:10Better no damage policy, haven't we, Dave?
05:12That's right.
05:13You never relax.
05:15The minute you relax, something goes wrong.
05:16We're going to leave here
05:18and we're going to weave our way through Melbourne
05:21and hopefully end up in Portland.
05:24From Somerville,
05:26Robbie will tow the building west
05:28straight into the hectic city of Melbourne,
05:31population 5.3 million,
05:33before crossing into West Victoria's farmlands
05:36to reach the scenic coastal town of Portland.
05:40And he has only seven hours to do it.
05:42The biggest problem we're going during the day
05:44is on certain roads has got a curfew.
05:47We're not allowed on there before 9am.
05:48We've got to be off by 4pm.
05:50I'm just extending the trailer.
05:52We'll be around 22 or 3 metres long today.
05:56The truck's a 2007 model
05:58and it's done 2.9 million kilometres.
06:02To pull his $250,000 trailer,
06:05Robbie is relying on his old faithful,
06:08a Kenworth K104B cab-over engine model
06:11with an 18-speed manual gearbox.
06:15The cab-over Kenworth is great getting into tight spots.
06:18The places we put these cabins,
06:20if you've got a truck with a bonnet,
06:21it makes it very difficult.
06:25I mean, everyone likes to drive a truck with a bonnet,
06:27but, I mean,
06:29you've got to sort of lose some length somewhere,
06:31so, unfortunately,
06:33we push the engine underneath.
06:36About a 400 mil.
06:39Have you left?
06:40Yep.
06:40We're going to just chain it down now
06:42and off we go.
06:43Some people smoke when they're stressed.
06:49I'll eat chopper chops.
06:51That's what I do.
06:53All right.
06:54I'm ready to go now.
06:58Yeah, pull it out, mate.
07:01I've got two pilots.
07:02Rowan will be my front pilot.
07:05Dave is my rear pilot.
07:07He'll be my eyes and ears at the back.
07:10Bit of a milestone for these guys.
07:13This isn't an adventure cabin.
07:14It's the 50th cabin.
07:15It's the civilian business.
07:19I want to scratch number 50.
07:22Mate, you go, mate.
07:23Keep going as you are.
07:24Make you clear of the fence on the back, mate.
07:26You're all good.
07:31When you're on a single lane,
07:33I'm only about a foot off the fog line.
07:35I'm hanging over both sides, nearly.
07:39Five and a half metres coming at you, mate.
07:41Come on, mate.
07:42Get over.
07:43Five and a half metres, mate.
07:44You can move right over.
07:49I just have to high beam that, Blake.
07:52If I see an oversized load or something coming at me with flashing lights,
07:55get out of the way.
07:56A lot of them go, oh, what's that?
07:59Flashing lights, and they just drive straight at you.
08:02We can have all the lights on in the world, mate, and they still ignore us.
08:04I basically grew up around trucks.
08:09My dad was driving fuel tankers.
08:11I got my truck licence when I turned 19, so I've been at it for quite a while.
08:17I had a seven-year break.
08:18I had a seven-year break.
08:20I had an accident back in 2010.
08:24I walked behind a truck with loading ramps on it, and the loading ramps fell, hit me on the
08:32back of the head, end up in the Alfred Hospital.
08:35I signed seven consent forms to have my right leg amputated out of 26 surgeries.
08:42The surgeon said you'll probably never drive again.
08:45I had a three-week-old baby home, and I got home 14 months later.
08:48I used to sit out in front of the hospital and watch all the trucks going past, and it was
08:55probably the one thing that kept me going, because I thought, I'm going to get back to
08:59that.
09:05We're riding the city now.
09:07This is probably the old area of St Kilda.
09:11Just trying to predict what everyone's going to do.
09:14Got to have keen sets of eyes.
09:18I'm looking for the trees, watching every car.
09:22For this idiot.
09:24Where are you going, mate?
09:26They don't want to move.
09:28He's going to run straight into the toilet building.
09:36I'm checking for my toe pressure.
09:39Checking if everything is on point.
09:42Cheers.
09:42Good luck, Pablo.
09:49Your first big interstate trip.
09:51Can't wait.
09:52You look after the gear.
09:53Got a bit of equipment there, worth a fair bit of money.
09:56Just remember, you've got to be there 10 o'clock on Monday morning to meet the cranes.
10:00Done load.
10:01Cheers.
10:01Good luck.
10:02All the best.
10:03Catch you later.
10:03All right.
10:04Journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
10:12Now starting the journey.
10:14Rookie outback trucker, Pablo Guadu, is taking on his biggest challenge since arriving in Australia
10:21less than a year ago.
10:23I'm from Zimbabwe, but I've been working as a truck driver in South Africa.
10:29I'm passing Larry the lobster.
10:33What a big lobster.
10:35We've been looking for workers because there's a shortage of drivers in Australia, and Pablo
10:41applied.
10:42This is Pablo's biggest trip that he's had while he's worked for us.
10:46I have to go through the outback.
10:50That's the right of passage of being in Australia.
10:54So hopefully by the time that I pass the outback, I'll be truly and truly in Australia.
11:02It's going to be a 3,600-kilometer journey, like from Cape Town to the equator.
11:08Pablo's journey starts in the far south of mainland Australia at Warrnambool.
11:14He'll then cross the entire length of the continent, pushing through the harsh, arid red centre
11:20and into the tropics to his delivery destination in the northernmost capital city, Darwin.
11:27I have to be there Monday morning.
11:31There's a crane that is booked for 10 a.m.
11:34If I get there late, the company will have to pay more.
11:37The pressure's on.
11:38It's got a metal folding machine on.
11:40It's precise equipment.
11:42It's worth a fair bit of money, so it's got to be well looked after.
11:47Noel has shown trust in me ever since I started my process.
11:51I cannot afford to let him down.
11:52For me to let him down, that is unthinkable.
11:56I cannot afford to do that.
12:00In Africa, it's a bit different.
12:03The laws that we ferry, they're not as big as the ones here.
12:07So I just said to myself, you know what, that's a challenge.
12:11I think I need to go to Australia.
12:13And ta-da, here I am.
12:15Back in the day when I was still in school, primary, we used to watch Skippy, the bush kangaroo.
12:25That was one of my favorite shows.
12:27And there was Blinky Bill.
12:29Blinky Bill was my favorite.
12:30So I used to watch most of the Australian shows.
12:34When I first started watching Albert Truckers, I think the very first episode that I saw was Steve when he got bored for two weeks in Kalamburu.
12:46The resilience that he showed after being bored for two weeks and he went and delivered that load, it just motivated me, inspired me to want to come and experience how it is tracking in Australia.
13:15It's a hot day today.
13:23Temperature outside is 40 degrees.
13:27What's up with the coolant?
13:32Coolant is high.
13:34I don't know what's happening.
13:35I need to pull out.
13:42Let me see if there's anything rolled down.
13:45Yeah, it's at this point.
13:49This is flicking.
13:53I do not need this.
13:58Shit.
13:59Just noticed the scratch for Aggie.
14:01Righto.
14:02It's only come undone.
14:13Could go under the wheel and take some of your load out.
14:16Yeah, they're very hard to keep.
14:18Keep in order.
14:20Right, good to go again.
14:21Third generation trucker Robbie Adams has vital supplies to deliver to livestock stations in the desert outside Broken Hill.
14:32It's a tough job with no margin for error.
14:36As an owner operator, the costs are just ongoing.
14:40They never stop.
14:41You're virtually living from month to month.
14:43It's a tough job.
14:44It's a tough job.
14:45It's a tough job.
14:46It's a tough job.
14:47It's a tough job.
14:48We're on the dirt now.
14:49This is where it ain't gonna go wrong.
14:51It will go wrong.
14:52It's hard to get more rugged as we get going.
14:56The Robinsonale K is dramatically both hands on the wheel.
15:06You're not going to let it go.
15:08You just tend to stall the time.
15:11We're just about ready to do our first drop.
15:16I'll be very relieved.
15:18They've been waiting for fuel for quite a while now.
15:21We're just sheep.
15:26We've got Hereford cattle.
15:28125,000 acres.
15:31Spanning more than 500 square kilometres, the property Luke Mashford runs with his family requires more than your standard farm ute.
15:41We get premium unleaded for the plane, for aerial spotting.
15:46Guys like Robbie, they're a dying breed.
15:50We've got to look after these old fellas and keep them going as much as we can.
15:54This will take the buck out of him.
15:56Thank you, Robert.
15:58Yeah.
15:59Cost you money every time we come here.
16:01At least you can keep working there.
16:03Thank you very much, Robert.
16:04No worries.
16:05No worries.
16:06It's good, mate.
16:07I'll see you in another four weeks.
16:08No worries.
16:09Safe travel, of course.
16:10All in all, it's been a good day.
16:16It's taken Robbie over eight hours to complete his first delivery, and his next stop is still more than an hour away, with daylight rapidly fading.
16:26Let's pull up here.
16:27Stop.
16:28It's overnight.
16:29It's starting to be a new day.
16:34Not much of a road is coming in and out of these places.
16:39There are not many trucks coming in and out the way I go.
16:43We're actually travelling, it's a bit of a short-cut road, cuts off probably 20 kilometres.
16:55It's not a very well-used road.
16:58We've just got to, we've got to make our own sort of thing.
17:02So, it's a bit difficult at times, picking the line if it hasn't been used for a long time.
17:13Most of the property down here are sheep and cattle.
17:18There's plenty of gates.
17:20Sometimes out of ten they're shut.
17:29Here we go, we've got our first gate.
17:40We've got a problem.
17:43The gate won't unlock.
17:50They don't want to move.
17:51They move to the last second.
17:54Look at this idiot.
17:55There you go, mate.
17:58He's going to run straight into the front of the building.
18:04What a peanut.
18:05Luxury cabin courier Robbie Bush is under the pump.
18:14His $200,000 load needs to be threaded through the frenetic city of Melbourne without a scratch.
18:19When we get on the charter road, Rowan will drop back behind.
18:22Then I can just use the whole road.
18:24Yeah, Kelby.
18:28You can come to your left, Rob.
18:29You can come to your left a bit more if you want.
18:31Keep coming, keep coming, keep coming.
18:34Oh, shit.
18:36What do you mean, old shit?
18:37It's ran over a cone.
18:40I'm too busy watching the back of your truck.
18:43Hey, that's the pilot.
18:44It's committed.
18:45There's a roadway line down the end of the road here.
18:51It's in the permanent states.
18:52I have to call seven days prior to crossing that roadway line.
18:56I'm allowed to cross between 10 and 12 today.
18:59If we get delayed, that can stop the whole show.
19:04Lights are going amber now, mate.
19:06We're coming.
19:08I can't stop here.
19:09I'm coming, I'm coming, I'm coming.
19:12Watch the traffic on the right, mate.
19:13They're going to float.
19:14Nah, you're right.
19:15I'll be here.
19:16Keep going, mate.
19:17I'm just watching this bicycle.
19:18It's coming up your left.
19:22Not far from Melbourne now.
19:23The buildings are just there.
19:27You go right, Robbie.
19:31We're riding the city now.
19:33Can you just sit on the left, mate?
19:35Just shut the back door.
19:36Can they come up your left here?
19:38Shutting the back door means he'll keep that lane shut
19:41so nothing can come past.
19:44Yeah, mate, coming through with you.
19:46Copy that.
19:50All right, on to the freeway now.
19:52About 4.30, 4.40, we're just coming through Warrnambool now.
20:08About an hour and ten minutes from Portland.
20:11We have to be off the road before sunset.
20:14No, I'm just ahead of you somewhere.
20:15There's road work.
20:16Oh, God.
20:17So hopefully it won't be here too long.
20:18And we've got a green light at the moment.
20:19Just gonna start tapping some of the bollards on your right-hand side.
20:20Sorry, Dave.
20:21I think I'm knocking them over, mate.
20:22No.
20:23No, you're actually not doing too bad, mate.
20:24There's a couple knocking down, but most of them are bouncing back up.
20:25You were nearly at the other end of it now.
20:26Stop, stop.
20:27You've got one caught up underneath the trunk.
20:28It's been stretched like this before you get to the front.
20:29It's been stretched like this before you get to the front.
20:30It was a big one.
20:31I'm just gonna start tapping some of the bollards on your right-hand side.
20:34I'm just gonna start tapping some of the bollards on your right-hand side.
20:36Sorry, Dave.
20:37I think I'm knocking them over, mate.
20:38No.
20:39No, you're actually not doing too bad, mate.
20:40There's a couple knocking down, but most of them are bouncing back up.
20:43You were nearly at the other end of it now.
20:46Stop, stop.
20:47You've got one caught up underneath the trunk.
20:51It's been stretched like this before you get to the front.
20:57Just like this before you get to the outback.
20:59What about if you get to the outback?
21:01Bada.
21:02Zimbabwean driver Pablo has just five days to get his load more than 3,600 kilometres to Darwin
21:10and succeed in his dream to become an Aussie outback trucker.
21:16No, I've got a bit of a problem.
21:18One of the pipe from the radiator is filling out the coolant.
21:22The bridge, that is just before the parking barrier.
21:31Oh, nice.
21:32Thank you, mate.
21:33But I think he's gonna send someone.
21:36No, it's gonna delay me because I don't know how long these guys will take to get here.
21:40I don't want to let them all down, let the customer down, because they're counting on me.
21:48And here comes the mechanic now.
21:51Looks like just the coolant lines has come off.
22:02These things take about quality liters or so.
22:05I think it's all fixed now.
22:09Thanks, mate.
22:10Cheers.
22:11Saved me a lot yesterday.
22:15All right.
22:17We've lost quite a bit of time, so we need to catch up.
22:20So, here we go now.
22:23We can't afford to be late.
22:28We have to make sure that Monday at 10 o'clock we're there.
22:34I want to be there by 9 o'clock latest.
22:42Once we leave Port Augusta, we'll be officially in the outback.
22:46Outback.
22:53Yeah.
22:54Outback.
22:55Now we are in the outback.
22:57Outback.
23:05Now we're pulling into Glen Jambo.
23:09Pulling out for the 9.
23:16Outback.
23:22This is the outback.
23:28What I've been praying for, now I'm here.
23:31The dream come true.
23:33Hopefully tomorrow no breakdowns.
23:36The gods of the place will smile on me.
23:39I can feel the aura of the outback.
23:47We've got a problem.
23:50The gate won't unlock.
23:54It won't come around far enough.
23:55It hasn't been used for that long.
24:00I'll undo it here.
24:04Well that's got that.
24:16Big importance to keep the gates.
24:18If you find them closed, close them.
24:20If you find them open, leave them open.
24:25The funny thing, I have a medical every year.
24:27The doctor says I've got to do, I should exercise.
24:31Well, I would have thought this was enough exercise.
24:35I've been shutting gates all day.
24:38The big risk today is dry vault.
24:41The roads are that powered up.
24:44It doesn't rain much out here.
24:47Our second delivery.
24:51They're really waiting for this pipe.
24:53They've got water problems.
24:55They're hanging out in this pipe just to get the water back to the stock.
25:00Go up there, see where they're going to want it.
25:05We've got 120,000 acres, 5,000 or 6,000 sheep and 500 cows.
25:15Water's running out.
25:16It's always water.
25:17You always seem to be fixing water or a fence out here.
25:20I've known him since I was a little tacker.
25:23He's been delivering stuff here my whole life.
25:26Just glad to see him when he gets here.
25:28I'm loaded, just checking everything out now.
25:30We've got a snake track here.
25:36A snake comes through here somewhere.
25:38So what do you reckon that one is, Locke?
25:40A bit.
25:41Brown snake, big brown snake.
25:43If you're getting bitten by a snake out here, you'll probably be dead before the flying doctor got to you.
25:48Brown snake.
25:49Down that way.
25:50Yeah.
25:51Stop, stop, stop, stop.
25:58You've got one underneath your tyres.
25:59Stop, stop.
26:01Copy that.
26:02I've stopped rolling.
26:03We've got to buy large stuff between the wheels mate.
26:06Righto, copy.
26:07Keep rolling.
26:08Copy mate.
26:09Find the move.
26:10You've got a couple of big ones coming through, Rob.
26:11Now we're going to crawl through here.
26:12Robbie Bush has just one hour left to reach his destination before his oversized permit runs out.
26:17Forcing him to pull over.
26:18Tomorrow, we'll be meeting a hundred and fifty thousand people.
26:19Righto mate, keep rolling.
26:20Copy mate.
26:21Find the move.
26:22You've got a couple of big ones coming through, Rob.
26:23Now we're going to crawl through here.
26:24We've got a couple of big ones coming through, Rob.
26:25Now we're going to crawl through here.
26:35Robbie Bush has just one hour left to reach his destination before his oversized permit runs out.
26:42Forcing him to pull over.
26:44Tomorrow, we'll be meeting a hundred and fifty thousand crane.
26:47If we happen to be delayed, there's extra cost.
26:50Customers don't like paying for cranes.
26:52Unnecessarily.
26:56Once we go, there's a little rise here with town right.
26:58And hopefully end up in Portland.
27:04There's the park there.
27:05It's going in there.
27:07Just got to mount the gutter here.
27:09And see how I go.
27:12Got to keep away Simon.
27:14A couple of hundred mil.
27:18How's that line looking?
27:19Robbie, go slower mate.
27:20Go slower.
27:21You're going to have to go over your right hand side a bit more.
27:24Stop, stop, stop, stop.
27:31Just roll on forward.
27:35Beautiful.
27:36Coming away nicely.
27:37Start straightening yourself up a little bit if you want mate.
27:40Got a good hundred mil over the top of that fence line.
27:43You're all good on this right hand side mate.
27:49Thank you linesmen.
27:50Thank you ball boys.
27:51Thank you umpire.
27:53That's it for today.
27:55Tomorrow we're going to reverse around that corner.
27:58Right up the end.
27:59We're a long way from finished.
28:02We still have to unload it.
28:03Without any, anything.
28:12I had a great night.
28:13Slept like a baby.
28:14And I'm ready to leave the room.
28:16Today's Valentine's Day so I think I'll have to stop by Cuperpedes.
28:29Buy my wife something since I can't be with her.
28:32Chasing his dream of becoming an out bank trucker,
28:36Pablo is feeling the downside to life on the road.
28:40I think I should only do justice if I can call my wife
28:43and wish you a happy Valentine's.
28:48Hi.
28:49How are you?
28:50I'm good. How are you?
28:51I'm good. How's the family?
28:53Good.
28:54Alright, I'm here in Cuperpedes.
28:57Happy Valentine's.
29:00Happy Valentine's.
29:02I wish I was there with you.
29:04I'll get you something from the out bank to show that I was thinking about you.
29:08I wish you were here.
29:10Next time when I come to the out bank I'll make sure I'll bring you with me.
29:12Yeah, next time we'll do that.
29:15Bye, have fun.
29:16Alright, have fun. Bye.
29:22I bought Mrs. Something.
29:24I also bought myself a boomerang show that I'm in Australia.
29:32I don't want to delay because I don't want to rush on the last day.
29:36I'm just about to cross the border into Northern Territory.
29:39I'm just about to cross the border into Northern Territory.
29:43Hopefully today I'm going to be doing 800 kilometres so that I'll be doing time.
30:01Now I'm left with 140 kilometres to get to three ways.
30:05After four full days on the road, Pablo has completed over 2,600 kilometres to get to his next rest stop at the Three Ways Roadhouse.
30:16We're leaving three ways for Catherine.
30:19I have to cover at least 650 to the day.
30:23That experience has been wonderful.
30:24I've been motivated seeing road trains.
30:25I think I'd like to drive road trains.
30:30I think I'd like to drive road trains.
30:49I'm pulling up to K3 now.
30:51We're down about 650 kilometres today.
30:55350 kilometres today.
30:58Now I'm just pulling over.
31:00Get the famous Catherine Steak.
31:08Next stop is going to be Darwin.
31:12The journey of 300 kilometres
31:14has got three hours to get there.
31:16Today is delivery day.
31:18Pablo has to be in Darwin by 10am
31:21to meet a crane that's been booked by his boss, Noel.
31:24Noel is counting on me
31:26so I'll make sure that I'm there on time
31:28because I wouldn't want to disappoint him
31:29because there's a big contract for the company.
31:35Nowhere.
31:38But I know the bus size load
31:40and we can't overtake
31:41because the road is narrow.
31:45Oversize can...
31:46I pass.
31:48If you make space, I can come around, right?
31:51One, two, one, mate. Come around.
31:54I'm like, will I fit?
32:00No, I won't fit.
32:03No, I won't fit.
32:04I won't fit. My truck is too big. I won't fit.
32:06I won't fit. I won't fit.
32:07I won't fit.
32:07Hello.
32:08Hello.
32:08Hello.
32:08Hello, there's a big car around me.
32:10You'll know if that's something you can say there.
32:12You're on.
32:21Our next challenge is reversing it up that road there,
32:25roughly 200 metres,
32:28and I'm going back blind.
32:29So I'm relying on those pilots
32:31to be my eyes and ears.
32:37Socrates, if you can go forwards a little bit.
32:42Yep, yep. Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop.
32:45Start chasing it hard now, mate.
32:47Keep going.
32:47Chase as hard as you can.
32:49That's full lock, mate.
32:50The cab over Kenworth is great getting into tight spots.
32:55If you've got a truck with a bonnet,
32:57it makes it very difficult.
32:59Yeah, yeah, you're on, mate.
33:00I'll keep you off it.
33:01Keep coming.
33:02Keep coming.
33:03Keep coming.
33:04Keep coming.
33:05Keep coming.
33:06Job's done.
33:08Happy there?
33:09We're there.
33:11We'll lift it off now.
33:16Here she comes.
33:20Stop, stop.
33:24We're starting to sink in here.
33:26The outrigger on the crane is now sinking into the garden bed.
33:30He won't risk it.
33:31He'll tip the crane over.
33:33So we're not really sure what he's going to do.
33:35He's either going to bring the steel pads in,
33:37which means we've got to move the cabin back out,
33:39or put more timbers under it.
33:44We should be right now,
33:46so we'll set back up,
33:48get the wheels back up,
33:49and we'll see if we can have a lift.
33:51Is that all right?
33:53Can we get someone on that other corner?
33:55Yeah, mate.
33:56It's on going.
33:59Okay, mate.
33:59I think we're right to go now.
34:01Yep, we're off here.
34:03That's it, mate.
34:03Nice and easy.
34:04Up you go.
34:05Yeah, you're off the trailer there, mate.
34:07Up you go.
34:09That's looking very good, actually.
34:11Point found.
34:12Hold on, mate.
34:15We'll be up on a touch ball, mate.
34:16Up on a touch ball.
34:16Which way?
34:21You got it?
34:22Yeah.
34:23That's string line there,
34:25and this one here.
34:30We're about a metre away from where we've got to go.
34:34Right here.
34:36Down on the hook.
34:37It's got to go forward.
34:39It's got to go right attached, mate.
34:40It's been right.
34:41We've just got to get the walls in line with his string line.
34:44This wall here and the far wall.
34:47Come back about 10 mil.
34:50There.
34:50The eagle has landed.
34:54That's how we do it.
34:55That's how we do it in Portland, Victoria.
34:59I love it.
35:00It's just a bit fun.
35:02It's always a good feeling to land the cabin,
35:04get it off the truck.
35:06It's a big weight lifted off your shoulders.
35:07Plans at the moment just to keep chipping away
35:11and move as many of these cabins before I get too old.
35:15See how much bigger the cabins can get
35:17and see how much smaller gaps we can fit them into.
35:20Oversize, can I pass?
35:31If you make space, I can come around, mate.
35:34Why is it up after a little while, mate?
35:35Come around.
35:36Nah, I won't fit.
35:37I won't fit.
35:38My truck is too big.
35:39I won't fit.
35:41Mate, they've been coming around me all day,
35:43but it's something you can say there.
35:45You're on.
35:50Oh, I think I can fit.
36:12You got it, mate?
36:13All good?
36:15Thanks, mighty.
36:16You're the best.
36:17Rookie trucker Pablo has less than an hour
36:22to reach his unload destination
36:24for his critical delivery deadline
36:26and achieve his dream of succeeding
36:28in his first outback trip.
36:31Now, hopefully, I can make it
36:34because I was running behind late.
36:40Fight.
36:41Fight.
36:45Fight.
36:45Fight.
36:49That's a rather close one.
36:50Waking up, we can't make any contact.
37:01We're now in Darwin.
37:03I'm about five kilometers to get to the offloading point.
37:10So here we are now.
37:12Just want to push
37:17before the rain comes down.
37:24I'm pretty happy that we've made it in time.
37:28Everybody's happy
37:29and the company just wants a tender
37:32for transporting more stuff for these guys.
37:35So it's a good thing.
37:36I contributed to that.
37:37It was one of my dreams
37:40to come to the outback
37:41and I managed to do it.
37:43I go to sea places,
37:46experience the outback.
37:48I can't wait to do my next outback trip.
37:50So what do you reckon that one is, Locke?
37:58A bit.
37:59Brownsnake, big brownsnake.
38:01Always on the lookout.
38:03The brownsnake and taipan,
38:05I think they're up there
38:06with some of the deadliest in the world.
38:08Very careful if you know there's one around.
38:10I think I might just
38:11have a quick look
38:12onto that trailer
38:13at a distance.
38:24No, he's all good.
38:26He's gone elsewhere, that one.
38:29Well done, Locke.
38:29Thank you very much.
38:30Thank you, mate.
38:31Thanks, Robbie.
38:31Good on you.
38:33Robbie Adams is on his second day
38:36of an extreme delivery run
38:38to some of Australia's
38:39most remote livestock stations.
38:42The other downstages
38:43will be next one.
38:46It's a little bit of a trail
38:48to get into it,
38:49but winds and weaves around a bit
38:51and hoping my little
38:53welcoming committee's
38:54going to open this gate for me.
38:56They always know I'm coming
38:58so they open the boundary for me
39:00and let me in.
39:09Thanks, kids.
39:11Let me in there.
39:18There we are at the diesel tanks.
39:21We love it when people come out
39:22somewhere and play with different people.
39:24He's brought fuel out for us today,
39:26which is good
39:27because it helps our whole community.
39:30Whoa.
39:34Whirling winds like this
39:35takes the runes off the houses,
39:37the walkheads.
39:39They're really, really dangerous.
39:45I bet it's not too bad.
39:49Tell you, fair boys and girls,
39:52on to the next one now.
39:54The last whirly wind
39:56that was out here
39:57as it was in a trailer,
39:59the whirly wind caught it.
40:00It was just unhooked
40:01out here on its own
40:02and it went and put it on its side.
40:06That's what those mini tornadoes will do.
40:12During the end of his second day,
40:14Robbie has only travelled
40:16316 rough and rugged kilometres
40:19and still has hundreds more ahead of him.
40:22That's the last job of the day.
40:25I'm just pulling off there.
40:28Do you know the best part of the day?
40:30Turn that key.
40:39I'm just going to unhook this second trailer.
40:42We've actually got to come back this way,
40:44so I'll pick him up on the way back.
40:54We've just pulled them into Waddlevale.
40:57I know they're really desperate for fuel here.
41:00I do know that.
41:03He'll be glad I'm here today.
41:05That tank was empty
41:06in another couple of days
41:07and he would have been
41:08ringing and abusing me.
41:12Another happy customer here,
41:14which is excellent.
41:21Just coming up to my second trailer now.
41:23I'll just hook it on.
41:30Got to get him to Waddlevale.
41:32We'll drop this Dax trailer
41:34because we can't get him
41:36to do the petrol with two.
41:42Tight little places
41:43in around these small communities.
41:51They've got the annual Gimkana
41:53coming on soon.
41:54It's pretty embarrassing
41:55when the town's got no fuel.
41:58We're done.
42:01Hook me trailer up
42:02and then I've kissed them
42:06corrugations goodbye.
42:09It's been a good few days.
42:12Everyone's happy.
42:14I'm happy.
42:16I do this job
42:17because I absolutely love it.
42:22And it's rewarding
42:23to see everyone smiles
42:25when you get there
42:26with all the gear intact.
42:28Love it.
42:29Absolutely love it.
42:30Go home
42:31and get ready
42:31for another one.
42:35You driving?
42:36Am I?
42:37Go centre
42:38and stay in the centre.
42:41Haven't driven a truck
42:42in like five years.
42:43I hope it's all come
42:45flooding back.
42:46Not going that way.
42:49Stop!
42:52I'm being set,
42:53reckon we're heading
42:53to drama, mate.
42:54I've done some trips
42:55that we're going to before.
42:56This one might be the worst.
42:58Dangerous.
42:58Well, that's not good.
43:02Now on a roll.
43:06We've got to try
43:06and get it all up
43:07before Christmas.
43:08There isn't any other option.
43:11I've just got to start
43:12and concentrate here a bit.
43:14Punch it into it
43:15as hard as we can
43:16at the moment.
43:21Mate.
