00:00Harry Maguire replaces Lenny Jouro at the back, and Matthias Cunha comes back into the attack.
00:05He takes over from Benjamin Szczesko, who's on the bench.
00:09This weekend and next, players are taking the knee free kickoff,
00:13as the Premier League highlights its no-room-for-racism campaign this year,
00:18with a special focus on education.
00:24Away we go with it.
00:25With a game that is watched all over the world, as Arna Slott put it this week.
00:31This Liverpool team, desperate to end a run of three successive defeats, all of those away from home.
00:39Manchester United looking to win successive Premier League games for the first time in a long time.
00:45They didn't do it all last season.
00:47They've yet to do it this.
00:51Starting on the front foot, United all in white.
00:55They're getting their traditional Anfield welcome.
01:05Next, back to Senna Lumans.
01:09One game in Manchester United's goal.
01:12One clean sheet.
01:13Their first of the season came in the 2-0 win against Sundance.
01:16Bruno Fernandes.
01:21And to Ahmed.
01:24Ahmed slides it through from Bumbo.
01:27What a start for Manchester United.
01:30An unbelievable start.
01:32With Brian and Bumbo slotting them in front.
01:35Slotting the ball in quite beautifully.
01:37Alexis McAllister down injured as United broke away down the right from Bruno Fernandes.
01:45Ball out to Ahmed.
01:46Really nice weighted pass around but it still needed some finishing.
01:51And it was some finish.
01:52Some start.
01:53217th meeting in all competitions of these two great football clubs.
01:59That's got to be one of the quickest goals.
02:03McAllister was caught in between Invermo and Van Dyke.
02:07And it might well have been his own captain that caused the injury.
02:20Salah.
02:22Ahmed has missed it.
02:23Gakko has got it.
02:25And hits the post.
02:28Seemed absolutely odds on that he put that in the net.
02:32Good ball from Salah.
02:34Ahmed gambled and lost the bet.
02:35Thanks for thinking from that point on.
02:38A Gakko goal was a formality.
02:41Not quite.
02:43McQuire.
02:45Shaw.
02:46Caused himself a bit of an issue but recovered before Salah could nick it away from him.
02:54Sarscuna.
02:57Finding Ahmed.
03:00I might think about taking on Milos Kerkas.
03:02He does.
03:03And tees up the effort which is called wide.
03:05Oh, what a miss that is.
03:08What a chance for Bruno Fernandes to double up for Manchester United.
03:14Bruno Fernandes still shaking his head after this.
03:17Nice tap to Amat.
03:29Here's Ingramo.
03:32Really on the move into the penalty area.
03:35Mamadash really spills it.
03:36There's a semblance there of a slight opening for Mason Mount.
03:44A few nerves coming down from the cup but seeing Georgi Mamadashvili not be able to keep his grip on that.
03:50Bruno Fernandes.
03:59There's a look.
04:00Amat is coming.
04:02Touch from Van Dijk.
04:03Prevented.
04:03Oh, there's a chance from Bruno here.
04:05That's a great tackle by Mamadashvili.
04:07And Mason Mount brings another save from the keeper.
04:12Cunha.
04:14Missed by Dallow but Manchester United haven't gone away yet.
04:17The ball might have had more of the ball but the better chances by and large have gone Manchester United's way.
04:27Van Dijk.
04:30Callister.
04:31Isak.
04:33That's a Gakpo.
04:37It's deflected.
04:39Can it kill the ball?
04:43Miss Kerkas.
04:44Gakpo.
04:50And that's caught by Lundens as Salah tried to squeeze in the header.
04:56This I'm almost sure hit some part of the woodwork.
04:59Oh, it did.
05:01Inside of the post it wasn't away.
05:04Almost like the same in the build-up to this one that this team haven't had those special moments from the front three that they had last season.
05:11Only one or two today.
05:16Now Isak running in behind but saved by Lundens.
05:20Hand back off Isak.
05:22And it's way behind.
05:24Very good reaction from Senna Lundens.
05:28Waiting for that first Premier League goal for Liverpool.
05:31There's the answer to the question.
05:35What do Knights of the Realm do during half-time of major matches?
05:39They share their buttons around.
05:44Salah.
05:44He's left on the floor by Diogo Delo after playing the pass to Isak.
05:51It will be a Liverpool free kick.
05:56Salah.
05:58He's gone all the way over.
06:00And against the post again.
06:01It's not Cody Gakpo's day.
06:08And Bumbo.
06:10Only Amat ahead of him.
06:11Mount across to the left with Bruno Fernandes there too.
06:20Shake of the head from Gakpo.
06:22Twice.
06:23Ever so narrowly off target.
06:27Pressure is intensifying on that Manchester United penalty area now.
06:30And it's Kirkus.
06:36Shaw was beaten to it.
06:37It's come for Mo Salah.
06:39And he's put it wide.
06:40Would you believe that?
06:42Been speaking throughout the game of the fact that he hasn't had as many chances in this game
06:47or many others this season.
06:48There was one.
06:52There was one you'd have banked on.
06:58Five on five here.
07:00Eketike.
07:03He's got the chance.
07:06He's making a difference.
07:08But he or somebody else in red
07:10has to make the proper difference by converting one of these opportunities.
07:16And the slot's starting to look as though he's under a bit of stress.
07:20He's done with a ball.
07:23Lost four in a row in all competitions.
07:25It's over a decade ago.
07:26And Eketike will drive into the penalty area and find Wirtz.
07:32It's a real scrap in there.
07:35Wirtz to Kiezer.
07:37Trapped in by Gakpo.
07:38What a noise around Anfield for that.
07:47United will be saying,
07:48offside.
07:50Now let's see.
07:51Oh, he's on.
07:53There's no problem there.
07:55Look at the outstretched leg of Dorgue.
07:57It is 1-1.
07:58Gakpo against Manchester United again.
08:03Every time he starts a match against them, he scores.
08:05Maguire.
08:10Taken out by Eketike.
08:12But the advantage is with Manchester United.
08:14And Cunha has been found by Shesko.
08:16And then stopped by Subaslife.
08:23Maguire left up to his feet to try and play a part in the corner.
08:30Fernandez goes out of the box for Mbumo.
08:33And it's blocked.
08:34And there's Bruno Fernandes.
08:35And there's Maguire.
08:37Manchester United have their lead back.
08:40Would you believe that?
08:43Shock waves around Anfield.
08:46Mbumo's blast bounced away.
08:49Fernandes with a lovely lift back into the middle.
08:54And Maguire had his eyes on it all the way onto his forehead.
08:58Liverpool 1, Manchester United 2.
09:00With time running out.
09:05Flutus of Boslai is bringing it adventurer once again.
09:11Primpong taking over it right back.
09:15Primpong taking on Dorku.
09:16And beating him.
09:17And beating him.
09:17Oh, wow.
09:20Gekko had to make it 2-2.
09:23But this time, no.
09:25Liverpool will be hard pushed to get a better chance to equalise a second time than that.
09:30Here's Ruben Amarim now on the verge of one of his greatest victories as Manchester United's boss yet.
09:39Might be the best.
09:40It's the boss line.
09:45It's blocked by Cunha.
09:47Chiesa.
09:49The offside flag is up here against Eka-Tike as Mainu turns and volleys the ball away.
09:55And that's it.
09:57Manchester United win at Anfield for the first time since January 2016.
10:02And they win back-to-back Premier League games for the first time under Ruben Amarim.
10:08And in well over a season.
10:10For Liverpool, it's four defeats in a row for the first time in almost 11 years.
10:16And this one will really stink.
10:19Harry Maguire, the Manchester United match winner.
10:23Liverpool 1, United 2.
10:25It's been a long time coming.
10:28It's been a tough place for us over the recent years.
10:31And we know how big it is for our fans.
10:34And, yeah, listen, we all have the cliche of it's only three points.
10:39But, yeah, it's a lot more than three points that today.
10:41What was the decisive factor in winning today?
10:43Spirit.
10:43Sometimes we struggle to choose the right moment to press.
10:47They are really good as a team.
10:49They have really talented players.
10:52But the way they compensate everyone, especially in the crosses,
10:57the spirit to play one team that likes to have the ball
11:01but spend so many time today without the ball,
11:04I think the spirit of the team made the difference.
11:08It's always difficult to play against a team that defends in the low block,
11:11that mainly plays the lone ball.
11:15But it makes it even more difficult if you go 1-0 down after one minute
11:18after a player of us is on the floor.
11:19And then I think if you would have told me before the game
11:23that against the low block, against the team that plays so many lone balls,
11:26we would have created as much chances as we did,
11:30I would have not expected us to lose this game of football.
11:33We control the momentum.
11:35Like winning a throw, winning a second ball,
11:37pushing the opponent to their half sometimes when we won the second ball.
11:42That is really important.
11:43And they did that so much better than other games.
11:47Any concerns over the run of results?
11:49If you lose four times in a row, you need to be concerned.
11:53Because you know how it works in football.
11:55If we can keep bringing these performances in,
11:57we will have a fair chance of winning more football games.
12:01And if we can do a few things a little bit better,
12:02we will even have a better chance of winning a game of football.
12:05How significant is it that that's back-to-back Premier League wins
12:09for the first time in too long?
12:11Yeah, again, that's just embarrassing, really.
12:14It's not a stat that we should be even speaking about
12:17because it's just an embarrassing stat to have.
12:19So now that's out of the way, let's try and make it through
12:21on Saturday against Brighton
12:23because we've got to start putting a bit more consistency together.
12:27We've got to make sure we maintain our focus, our heads.
12:30But yeah, of course, we'll enjoy the victory
12:32because it's a huge victory for the club.
12:34We'll talk Harry Maguire in a little while.
12:37But Arnazlott there said
12:39United basically sat deep and hit long balls in the main.
12:44Do you think that's slightly unfair?
12:47It's massively unfair.
12:48I'm going to show you now.
12:49I think they finally started to get it right
12:51down this right-hand side here
12:52where Ameren's been trying to work on for a long time.
12:55We're going to highlight Evermo and Diallo on this right-hand side.
12:58You see, they do go long here from the goalkeeper.
13:00They're not expecting to win the ball.
13:02They expect Virgil van Dijk to win it.
13:03But they're landing on second balls.
13:05And Brian and Brouwer here just makes himself a nuisance.
13:08But this is what he's talking about here
13:10when he's talking about pace and power
13:12and the effort in every moment.
13:13Look, he runs past two Liverpool players.
13:16One at the end being Virgil van Dijk.
13:17Lovely ball from Diallo.
13:18Bang.
13:19Great finish after one minute there.
13:21Up and running.
13:22But this is where they want to get to
13:23in their build-up of play.
13:24Talking about long balls.
13:25This is a pass, isn't a long ball.
13:27Great run from Brian and Brouwer there.
13:29Just keeps Kerkers inside.
13:30Now allows Diallo 1v1.
13:32But that run also occupies van Dijk now.
13:35So he's opening up that 1v1 on this right-hand side.
13:37As soon as they can start to come,
13:38it opens up spaces for Bruno Fernandes.
13:41And in my opinion, he should score there.
13:42But it's just showcasing again.
13:44Down this right-hand side.
13:45Now Kerkers is a little bit late,
13:46leaving that space for Brian to run into.
13:49Van Dijk does not want to be outside his 18-yard box,
13:51but he is.
13:52Now look at the spaces that have opened up for Kunia.
13:54They've got the pace.
13:55They've got the power.
13:56And they're just delivering again.
13:57And on another day,
13:58Mace about puts that in.
13:59It's a real difficult chance for him.
14:01But what it did do,
14:02it created so much trouble for Virgil van Dijk,
14:05who we normally see is poised and controlled.
14:07He goes to running behind there.
14:08He stops.
14:09He's second-guessing himself.
14:10Now he thinks he should jump.
14:11And how many times have we seen van Dijk sliding in?
14:14And look at this.
14:14We didn't see this from Liverpool at all last year.
14:17Three players being disappointed in the reaction.
14:19Again, on another day,
14:20they could score one.
14:21Not only that one,
14:22they could have scored here.
14:23But it's just, again,
14:24Man Utd coming down this right-hand side.
14:26For some reason,
14:27Nicarate runs out this space,
14:29vacates it.
14:30Yes, the shot's not great,
14:31but it's just showcased.
14:32Down that right-hand side,
14:33there's so many patterns of play
14:34they'll be really happy with.
14:35But the key to it is consistency, isn't it?
14:37The key is to keeping the same right-wing back
14:40and Boimo there the same mid
14:42so that they can build up those relationships.
14:44Yeah, absolutely.
14:45And obviously,
14:46it's hard for a lot of energy and effort
14:48to keep doing it week in, week out.
14:50But I think now,
14:51it's more about the mental.
14:52It's more about can they do it next week?
14:54Because I think going into this game
14:55against Brighton,
14:56they're going to be favourites.
14:57They haven't been favourites in a few weeks.
14:58So for them now to get used to winning games,
15:01and this man can talk about that
15:02a lot better than me.
15:04Well, I'm not going to let you talk about it.
15:06I'm not going to let you talk about it.
15:07I just want to go back to
15:09the goal that United scored.
15:12And now,
15:12Arna Slott said,
15:13oh, they did have a player on the floor.
15:14They didn't make a big thing of it afterwards,
15:16though,
15:16it didn't Liverpool.
15:17Because games could
15:18be stopped
15:19for a head injury.
15:21But it happens very quickly,
15:22doesn't it?
15:22Yeah, I think it's tough for Michael Oliver
15:24because you can see the challenge.
15:25It's Van Dijk, actually.
15:26He comes over
15:27the top of Mbwemo,
15:28and of course,
15:28McAllister takes the brunt of his elbow.
15:30You see Michael Oliver in the shot as well.
15:32Obviously, there's a coming together.
15:33And we see this a lot in football.
15:34We don't know if it's
15:35a serious injury or not.
15:36You know, you see McAllister rolling around,
15:37so he's not knocked out,
15:38clean out of it.
15:39I know they score.
15:40I know Liverpool's going to be angry with it.
15:42But at the same time,
15:43it's not like the Liverpool players stopped.
15:44They still tried to get back.
15:47You see here, Van Dijk's elbow catches him.
15:49But in Michael Oliver's advantage,
15:50he only has a couple of seconds.
15:51He said, is that right?
15:52Arna Stott, obviously, is not happy
15:53because it ends up
15:54in the back of the net.
15:55And we just want to try
15:55and balance it up with you.
15:56But this is Maguire.
15:58You know, Ekotiki comes and
15:59takes him out.
15:59Hits a head injury.
16:00You see, Michael's about
16:01to blow the whistle again.
16:02And he's thought, you know what?
16:03No, I can play in advantage.
16:04I'll play on.
16:05Maguire's still on the ground
16:06at this point.
16:07And this is where the corner comes from.
16:08So I think you've got to give
16:09Michael a little bit of credit.
16:10I know Liverpool fans watching
16:11won't be happy
16:12that it wasn't called up.
16:13But it's a difficult one
16:14because you see a lot of players
16:15going down,
16:16getting a knock on the chest,
16:17holding their head,
16:17trying to get the game stopped.
16:19Because you probably need
16:20three or four seconds,
16:22are you saying,
16:22three or four seconds
16:23to work out whether
16:24it's a head injury
16:25that requires attention
16:27and needs the game to be stopped.
16:29You need three or four seconds
16:30to assess it.
16:30And by that time,
16:31it was at Mboma's feet.
16:32Well, it was at his feet
16:33and they were breaking.
16:34And again, I think it was,
16:35the clock showed nine seconds
16:36or whatever was in the back of the net.
16:37So there's still
16:37a physio or a doctor
16:39come on within really short
16:40succession of the collision,
16:41you know,
16:41so that is important.
16:43Macaussan did need medical treatment,
16:44there's no getting away from that.
16:45But again,
16:46I think it's a tough decision
16:47for Michael Oliver to make.
16:48And for me,
16:48I thought it was,
16:49he refereed to both incidents correctly.
16:52Harry Maguire,
16:53only his third start
16:55in the league
16:56for Manchester United
16:57this season.
16:58Ruben Amram said
16:59he needed to bring him in
17:00for his experience
17:02and he talked about
17:03the spirit afterwards as well.
17:05Yeah, and his leadership
17:05and, you know,
17:07he used to be the captain
17:08of the football club.
17:09Today, you know,
17:10going to Anfield
17:11and he mentioned in an interview
17:12back-to-back ones,
17:13it's embarrassing,
17:14but this is sort of,
17:15some of the stuff is relatively basic
17:16for a centre-half.
17:17He'll be in the right area
17:18at the right time
17:19and what I love about
17:20Harry Maguire more than I think
17:21is he's really dominant
17:22in both boxes.
17:23You know,
17:24he clears things,
17:24he heads things
17:25and for me,
17:26as an ex-goalkeeper,
17:28I love that.
17:29You know,
17:29how many centre-halves
17:30shy away from that,
17:30don't want to go
17:31and attack the ball.
17:32He's leading from the back.
17:33Again,
17:33that's a brilliant header,
17:34facing his own goal mark.
17:35That could end up anywhere.
17:36You can see him there
17:37pointing,
17:38organising.
17:39Again,
17:39it's another difficult ball in,
17:41but he deals with it really well.
17:42This is the goal,
17:43of course,
17:43and you just see,
17:43keep an eye on my heart
17:44at the top of the scene,
17:45he just peels off
17:46at the back of Canopy
17:47and again,
17:47that's a,
17:48I don't know,
17:48sheer-like finish
17:49with the header.
17:50Back where it came from,
17:51back in the corner,
17:52it's a brilliant header
17:53and again,
17:54you said it's his third start,
17:55I think he should start
17:55a lot more often.
17:56You see the reaction
17:57to these players,
17:58he gets a round of applause
17:59going back into the dressing room.
18:00I remember him
18:00taking him off this season
18:01against Chelsea.
18:01I think Chaliba scored.
18:02I think Maguire heads
18:03that clear.
18:04I don't understand
18:05Ruben taking him off
18:06and maybe today,
18:06maybe the manager
18:07going,
18:08hang on a minute,
18:08but his leadership qualities
18:09and him at the back
18:10were a better team.
18:12There's so much talk
18:13about Liverpool
18:14and their attacking players
18:15and how they fit them in
18:16and we will come on to that
18:18in just a moment,
18:19but defensively,
18:21they are struggling
18:22this season.
18:23They are not at the level
18:24they were last season.
18:26Why do you think that is?
18:28Maybe a little bit
18:28of complacency
18:29from last year,
18:30but I think when you start
18:31looking at these stats,
18:32it's very hard to say
18:33last season they can see
18:34three goals from set-pieces.
18:36No, three goals
18:37from set-pieces.
18:37Three goals in general.
18:38Eleven goals
18:39from this season already.
18:41Five from set-pieces.
18:42It's just
18:43two clean sheets
18:44as opposed to five
18:46all the last year.
18:46It just feels like
18:47it's a little bit disjointed.
18:49Have they been
18:50a little bit upset
18:51in the transfer market
18:52not getting all the business
18:53that they want to do?
18:54We're speaking about
18:54how much business they've done.
18:55Still wanting Mark Gahey
18:56in there,
18:57didn't get him in.
18:58A lot of players
18:58have been injured.
18:59Kerkhez hasn't been great.
19:00Alisson going down.
19:02I just feel
19:02it's a bit disjointed
19:03at this moment.
19:03Because they have
19:04all these options
19:05further forward,
19:07those options
19:08further forward
19:09still have roles
19:09to play on set-pieces.
19:11So when you change them,
19:13it's about getting
19:14those instructions
19:15over to them
19:16as well, isn't it?
19:16I think the recruitment
19:17was top-heavy.
19:18The strikers,
19:19lots of forward
19:20attacking-minded players
19:21versus Ekotiki,
19:22Isak of course.
19:24They didn't forget
19:24about the back
19:25but they wanted,
19:26as he says,
19:26Gahey,
19:27they wanted maybe
19:27a couple more players
19:28in defensively.
19:29But again,
19:31if these forward players
19:31are looking at here
19:32on the screen,
19:32their job is to defend
19:33as well.
19:34He defends from the front
19:35and maybe
19:35Arnes Lodd is just
19:37looking for that
19:38perfect formula.
19:39He's trying different
19:40players in different
19:40positions but again,
19:42that's not great.
19:42They're chopping and
19:43changing and these
19:43players have to work
19:44back to protect
19:45the likes of Van Dijk
19:46and Kanadi at the back.
19:47Would either of you
19:48be able to at the
19:49moment say what
19:50your first choice
19:51Liverpool front three
19:53would be out of
19:53those five?
19:55Not in current form
19:56but I think Ekotiki
19:57has to be involved.
19:58He's scoring and
19:59for some reason
20:00he's come out to try
20:01and make other people
20:02fit in.
20:03If he's scoring and
20:03playing,
20:04leave him in.
20:04Let Isak earn it
20:05but I'd like to see
20:06him on the left
20:07hand side where
20:07Gappo is.
20:08I think he does
20:08exactly the same
20:09coming in and
20:10getting that shot
20:10off on that
20:11right hand side.
20:11How many times
20:12today when we
20:12watched it we
20:13know he's coming
20:14in on that right
20:14but you just
20:15can't stop him.
20:16I think he needs
20:17to have a little
20:17bit more game
20:19time from the
20:19start but I do
20:20think that front
20:21three just need to
20:22relax a little bit
20:23and start to think
20:25about the team as
20:25opposed to themselves.
20:26I think they're
20:27all goal first as
20:28opposed to team
20:29first.
20:30I think if they
20:30lost today 5-1
20:32and one of them
20:33scores,
20:33they're quite
20:34happy and that's
20:35not how a team
20:35works.
20:36Do you think
20:36given the amount
20:38of money that
20:39each and the
20:40majority of those
20:40individuals have
20:41cost,
20:41can you understand
20:42if they are as
20:44you say goal
20:45first?
20:45Yeah it's ego
20:46right?
20:47They've all been
20:47the main person
20:48at their team
20:49that they once
20:49was at and
20:50Salah's the main
20:51man at Liverpool
20:51but now you've
20:52got Isak,
20:53Verts,
20:54you've got all
20:54these different
20:54players who've
20:55come in who've
20:56been the main
20:56men at their
20:56team and now
20:57it's all that
20:58balancing ego.
20:59I was talking
20:59to you about
21:00it in the
21:00green room,
21:01how was that
21:02for you at
21:02Man City when
21:03player after
21:03player come and
21:04you said basically
21:05the culture was
21:06if you weren't
21:06good enough you
21:07got moved on.
21:08That's what
21:08Liverpool are now
21:09moving into a
21:10space where if
21:10you're not good
21:11enough you'll
21:11just get moved
21:12on, it's next
21:12man up.
21:13Just back to
21:14Manchester United
21:14at the end
21:16there, we
21:16talked about
21:17way more on
21:17one side,
21:19Mateus Cunha
21:19who's had a
21:21difficult-ish
21:22start to his
21:22United career
21:23in terms of
21:24goal contributions
21:25for example
21:26but he performed
21:27a really important
21:28role for them
21:28in the last
21:29ten minutes
21:29didn't he?
21:30Yeah and I've
21:30been really
21:31impressed for the
21:32moment that he
21:32signed, even
21:33from his
21:33Instagram posts
21:34he's kind of
21:35like he wants
21:36all of the
21:36pressure and we
21:37were saying
21:38after about
21:3860 minutes
21:39the guys
21:40yesterday were
21:40talking about
21:41the Brazilian
21:42lads travelling
21:43and looking
21:43really tired
21:44for Newcastle
21:45everything we're
21:46showing is in
21:47the 83rd minute
21:47and onwards
21:48it was just
21:49really smart
21:49play, gets a
21:51little bit of
21:51luck here but
21:52just keeps going
21:53looks after them
21:53all, puts his
21:54body in the way
21:55nicking fouls
21:56game management
21:57understanding what
21:58to do and these
21:59parts here are the
22:00bits for me
22:00just again not
22:02making it about
22:03people that aren't
22:04there but people
22:05that were once
22:05there before would
22:06never have been
22:07doing this for
22:07Man United
22:08being really smart
22:09here and look
22:10keeps the ball
22:11moving again not
22:12admiring his
22:13work going
22:13again and
22:14just these
22:14positions that
22:15he's picking up
22:16here is fantastic
22:17if he doesn't
22:17go in here
22:18Liverpool keep
22:19the play going
22:20being brave to
22:22go and head it
22:22get it out of
22:23there but this
22:24is the one I
22:24like this is
22:25right at the
22:26end of the
22:26game but if
22:26he's not there
22:27that goes to
22:27Liverpool smart
22:29enough now
22:29wins a foul
22:30and then you
22:31know just gets
22:31an extra few
22:32seconds when the
22:33cramp kicks in
22:33here very very
22:34late
22:34but the intensity
22:35of him and
22:36Mbwemo is a
22:36real contrast
22:37oh absolutely
22:38but it also
22:39to the pass
22:39yes it just
22:40raises the level
22:41as well it
22:42says to everybody
22:42else yes we've
22:43brought these
22:43people in on big
22:45money and yes
22:45they expect to
22:46start but if
22:46you're not
22:47delivering the
22:48basics
22:48I think what
22:49strikes me off
22:50that piece is
22:50the work rate
22:51you're talking
22:51about a Brazilian
22:52attacking player
22:53a flair player
22:54guy to bring
22:55your goals but
22:55what Ruben's
22:56brought to the
22:56team is you
22:57know what at
22:58Anfield away
22:58we want the
22:59wingers and
22:59Mbwemo you
23:00mentioned Acuna
23:00to track back
23:01work back for
23:02your team and
23:03that was a
23:03brilliant display
23:04there was no
23:06all why me
23:06just get the
23:07job done
23:08right Aston
23:10Villa were on
23:11a run of
23:12four straight
23:12wins in all
23:13competitions as
23:14they headed to
23:14the Tottenham
23:15Hotspur Stadium
23:16your commentator
23:16Mark Scott
23:17while Villa
23:20are finally
23:21building some
23:21momentum
23:22Sunfield Spurs
23:23haven't hit
23:24top gear yet
23:25despite a win
23:26today moving
23:27them to within
23:27two points of
23:28leaders Arsenal
23:29Thomas Franks
23:31forced into two
23:31changes
23:32Destiny Adoghi
23:33and Christian
23:34Romero are
23:35out injured
23:36with Romero's
23:37problem picked
23:38up during the
23:38warm-up
23:39Kevin Danso
23:40and Jed Spence
23:41come in
23:41Olly Watkins
23:42got a knock on
23:43England duty
23:44and moves to
23:45the Villa bench
23:45today so
23:46Evan Kessan
23:47steps into the
23:48attack
23:48Amadou Unada
23:49for Lamar
23:50Bogard is
23:51there on a
23:51change
23:52Martinez
23:56sold a little
23:58bit short
23:58there
23:59as
24:00Ezri
24:00Constart
24:01soft catch
24:03for the
24:03first quarter
24:04of the game
24:05to a good
24:08area
24:09but
24:09clear the
24:10way
24:10as far
24:11as
24:11Spence
24:11Kiddus
24:14that's
24:16handy
24:16back across
24:48time sweep home. And Thomas Frankside are off to a flyer. Goal means that Spurs will
24:58not have had a 0-0 draw in their last 127 Premier League matches now. And Caners 2-0!
25:07But the flag is up. Look outside first glance. And he certainly is.
25:15Last season Spurs drop the most points from winning positions in the Premier League this
25:21season. They haven't let any slip once they've gone ahead. But the pair had to be careful.
25:28Cash was on his shoulder. Getsan now has it. Skips it towards Cash!
25:33Well advantage played here by Simon Hooper. Villa very nearly turned it into one. Cash
25:38with the snapshot. I think Vicaria would have had it covered had it been on target.
25:45Modso. Marlon chasing this. Danso's got to be careful. And has done really well.
25:51Odebeir. Last first touch. And starting at Cash and going for goal. Martínez can't hold
26:05it. And gets a bit lucky that the rebound didn't drop to anyone in the white shirt. It's a lovely
26:11crossfield switch. A lush first touch from Odebeir here. Coming inside of Cash. The hit lacked any
26:19real punch. But it was still spilled by Martínez. He's on the bench. Shunai Emery saying that
26:26he arrived to the game not fit to feature from the start.
26:33it's Alan Conster in a wrestle. Nothing wrong with the challenge from Esri Conster. Kamara.
26:41McGinn. Now Morgan Rodgers. Simmons leaping in.
26:48And then guess that.
26:55Rogers. Got it back. And has a go. Brilliant.
27:00Morgan Rodgers with a banger to bring Villa level.
27:04His first goal for Villa this season is a peach of a hit. Got a bit lucky initially as it came off.
27:14Chevy Simmons into his path. Nothing fortunate about the strike though.
27:20Lovely dipper. Over the top of Vicario. And in. To make it Spurs one. Villa one.
27:27Villa one.
27:33Rogers.
27:36Simon Hooper says no foul. Rogers has stayed down. Spurs won't care about that.
27:41Simmons.
27:44Kamara's trying to push him wide.
27:47Will be a free kick.
27:48Oh and then there's a little bit of fisticuffs.
27:53Between.
27:54Xavi Simmons and John McKinn.
27:58Rogers wanted a free kick there.
27:59But the referee.
28:01Didn't see anything wrong rightly so.
28:06Horro. Doesn't have a pot.
28:08Hit the referee instead.
28:09Play goes on.
28:11And.
28:12Matthias Tell.
28:13Should perhaps have put Tottenham back in front.
28:19Villa would have had.
28:21Of course the complaint.
28:23Had that ended up in the back of the net.
28:24Given the intervention from the ref.
28:25But.
28:27Nothing doing in here.
28:28Rogers laid off.
28:29For Anana.
28:30Dinia's low ball.
28:31Had out by Danso.
28:32Dinia on the scene again.
28:33And then.
28:34He and Danso colliding.
28:35Kevin Danso.
28:36Might be in a bit of trouble here.
28:37Certainly connects.
28:38With the ankle.
28:39Of Luca Dinia.
28:40But.
28:41VAR.
28:42Have.
28:43Quickly checked.
28:44And cleared.
28:45And.
28:46Decided.
28:47To.
28:48To.
28:49To.
28:50To.
28:51To.
28:52To.
28:53To.
28:54To.
28:55To.
28:56To.
28:57To.
28:58To.
28:59To.
29:00To.
29:01To.
29:02To.
29:03To.
29:04To.
29:05To.
29:06To.
29:07To.
29:08To.
29:09To.
29:10To.
29:11To.
29:12To.
29:13To.
29:14To.
29:15To.
29:16To.
29:17To.
29:18To.
29:19To.
29:20To.
29:21To.
29:22To.
29:23To.
29:24To.
29:25To.
29:26To.
29:27And so, Porro, just went away from him a little.
29:34Good angle on that.
29:36Goodness.
29:37Dangerous.
29:39Cox is there.
29:41Ventecker picks up the pieces.
29:44Palinia slapped away by Martinez.
29:49Always a save that the new Martinez should be making from here.
29:54Not sure it was going in, but neither was Emi Martinez.
30:03Now Torres.
30:04Room here for McGinn.
30:06Slip forwards for Daniel Marlin.
30:09Couldn't quite get his angles right.
30:12But a scare for Spurs there.
30:14Much more like it from Villa here.
30:16Kind of incisive play that they've been lacking all afternoon.
30:21And Arno.
30:23Kamara lifts it forwards handily.
30:28Cash drives it in and it goes behind off Spence.
30:32Quarter of an hour to go.
30:35With Aston Villa having this corner kick.
30:39Ventecker got a piece of it.
30:41Palinia further away.
30:43A little bit as interested.
30:44McGinn has to be careful.
30:46Lights it back to Cash.
30:47Lovely idea.
30:50And what a touch for Luca Dina to bring it down.
30:53All of a sudden they might be in business here.
30:55Oh, here they are.
30:56Emi Guendia.
30:58And Villa have turned it around to lead late on.
31:03Three goals in his last four games now for the Argentinian.
31:08And this one might be enough to see Villa take all three points from North London.
31:15But started off with this superb ball forwards from Matty Cash.
31:21Dina took it out of the air.
31:23Got it back to Guendia.
31:24Spurs keeper might have been a fault for the first.
31:34There's little he can do about this one.
31:36Made to measure from Emi Guendia.
31:40And Villa's renaissance is set to continue.
31:44Very proud of, firstly, our supporters.
31:47Because they were here and they were helping.
31:51And, of course, we are praying for them.
31:53And, secondly, how the players respond.
31:57Even when we were losing 1-0, better than in our mentality,
32:03this is the way we are trying to get in balance,
32:09progressively getting better,
32:10to try to build a team with their structure,
32:13tactically, individually, confidence, positive energy.
32:16You know, football is such a random game in some ways.
32:19So, of course, every single game,
32:23no matter if we win 3-0 or we lose today,
32:26I want things to be done better.
32:27I think, overall, I think we came out aggressive, intense,
32:33very good and high pressure.
32:34Winning the ball, producing some very good moments,
32:38especially the first half.
32:39Carried on the first part of the second half.
32:41Unfortunately, it was not enough of the day.
32:45Can I just ask you about that goal?
32:46What do you think the best part of it was?
32:48Yeah, I think it was all a great quality with the pass of Kashi.
32:52Control of Lucas in the right wing,
32:54it was unbelievable as well.
32:57And then he could get the pass.
32:58And then the finish, yeah,
33:00I tried to find the bottom corner.
33:03I know it's hard with all the people in the middle.
33:06So, yeah, happy.
33:08It was a good goal and we could get the win.
33:12Well, let's look at that again.
33:13It's such a good goal, isn't it?
33:16This is the best goal I think I've seen all season.
33:17Me getting excited probably.
33:19But it comes from a corner.
33:20Here we see it come in.
33:21They're clear.
33:22And obviously McGinn and Cash are at the back.
33:25McGinn just nods it back to Cash.
33:26But watch this for a strike off Cash.
33:28It's unbelievable.
33:29The technique mark out to Dina.
33:32And his two touches are incredible.
33:33And after that, obviously,
33:34Buendia has a bit of magic himself
33:35onto his left foot swinger.
33:37But he wants McGinn here.
33:38Keep an eye on McGinn here.
33:40He nods it back and goes,
33:40Right, go safe.
33:41Go home.
33:42Go home.
33:42Cash go.
33:43No, I haven't known of it.
33:44I'm going to strike it out right to Dina.
33:47Two brilliant touches from him.
33:48And then, obviously,
33:49Buendia steps up to the party after that.
33:51It's just an unbelievable.
33:53This is the angle.
33:53This is the angle.
33:54This is the technique.
33:55Look at that technique.
33:56Honest to God.
33:56I was off the sofa.
33:57I was excited.
33:58I was going,
33:58Please be a goal.
33:59Please be a goal.
34:00It's like a PlayStation goal.
34:02You see it on the computer.
34:03It is just world class for Mastonville.
34:05What a goal.
34:07And it kind of,
34:08the fact that Buendia got it,
34:10obviously,
34:10there's plenty of other stuff
34:11in the build-up to Amad,
34:12but the fact that Buendia got it as well
34:14highlights your second point
34:16in all of this,
34:17which was how crucial
34:18the substitutions were
34:19to changing Villa's fortunes.
34:21Well, all the clubs have mentioned
34:22substitutions coming on.
34:23Marteta mentioned finishers.
34:25You know,
34:25Watson's didn't start today.
34:26That was the big news coming
34:27from Tottenham.
34:28Why is he not starting?
34:29He had a knock for England, of course.
34:30But these two off the bench
34:31made a huge difference, Mark.
34:32They really did.
34:33And that's what you want
34:34from your subs.
34:35You want them to come on
34:35and make a difference.
34:36Buendia running at people,
34:38Watkins stretching people,
34:39you know,
34:39it gets across into the box.
34:42But again,
34:42it gave Tottenham
34:43a different problem.
34:44In the first half,
34:45you know,
34:45Malin was coming short
34:46and the Tottenham players
34:48and defenders especially
34:49were happy.
34:49Everything was in front of them.
34:50But now they've got
34:51a different problem.
34:52They've got Watkins running at them,
34:53you know,
34:53being progressive with these runs,
34:55being more direct.
34:57And here,
34:57Buendia again,
34:58having awareness,
34:59you know,
34:59where's the Tottenham players.
35:00And then look at Watkins' run.
35:02Brilliant stretching them.
35:02I know Mickey van der Benz
35:03really fast,
35:04but they're all running back.
35:05Look at McGill in the box.
35:06He could get on the end
35:07of that perhaps.
35:08You know,
35:09very impressive
35:09by both Watkins.
35:10And again,
35:11you know,
35:11Malin first,
35:11I would have dropped
35:12into the referee.
35:13Look at Watkins spinning
35:13in the back.
35:14A better ball there
35:15and he's in there
35:15in one-v-one situation.
35:17They just made a huge difference,
35:18gave Tottenham something
35:19they think about.
35:20And this is one of my favourite clips.
35:21Look,
35:22they get easy.
35:22Buendia could have let that go.
35:23Watkins could have let that go.
35:25But you talk before
35:26about Liverpool players
35:27defending from the front.
35:28That's your two attacking players.
35:30Both of them tracking back.
35:31Both of them working hard
35:32for the team.
35:33Away from home.
35:34And look at that,
35:34getting them up the pitch
35:35and 1-2 with each other.
35:37It's absolutely fantastic
35:38what they did today.
35:39Really didn't make a big difference
35:40and that's what you want.
35:42Positively off the bench,
35:42energy,
35:43and give the opposition
35:44the problems.
35:45And we can't help
35:45but finishing this goal again.
35:47This is one of the subs.
35:48This is a different angle.
35:49But it just gets better
35:50from every single angle.
35:51Brilliant.
35:52Just the stretching
35:53of Watkins as well.
35:54It's not just the runs in behind.
35:56It's across the whole front line,
35:57isn't it?
35:58He doesn't just stick
35:59to one channel.
36:00He's happy to go
36:01either right or left
36:02on those clips.
36:02Yeah,
36:03and Marlon is actually
36:03a right winger, isn't he?
36:04Trying to play through the middle
36:05and just use his pace.
36:06He wants to touch the ball
36:08so he keeps coming short,
36:09keeps coming short.
36:10But Ollie's used to just running
36:11anywhere across that line.
36:12He sees where the ball is
36:13on the pitch.
36:14His pitch geography is really good
36:15and he learns to go right.
36:17Am I going to run behind
36:17the full back
36:18or do I have to go back
36:19through the middle
36:20as we saw there
36:20with the one over hit
36:21from Paul Torres?
36:22But really, really good
36:23for Molly Watkins
36:24and hopefully for England
36:25he can get some form back
36:27and we can have
36:27some competition,
36:29Harry Kane.
36:29As far as Tottenham are concerned,
36:31I think we've probably
36:32on every other match of the day
36:35already this season
36:35done a piece on
36:36how simplistic Tottenham
36:38are keeping it
36:39at the back
36:39and the long ball
36:40and so on and so forth
36:41and playing to their strengths.
36:43They're not necessarily
36:44as simplistic
36:45in the final third
36:46at the moment,
36:47are they?
36:47No,
36:48but they started it off
36:49and this for me
36:50is where Thomas Frank's
36:51going to have to run
36:51his coin
36:52because you see it here,
36:54this is very early in the game,
36:55this is obviously the goal,
36:56but look at Koulos there,
36:57gets the ball,
36:58two touches,
36:59one out of his feet,
36:59this is very deliberate,
37:00everyone knows now,
37:02running the box,
37:02it's coming.
37:03It's a great ball in
37:04and this is obviously
37:05from the header back
37:06from Paulinho
37:07and Benzo,
37:07call with the goal.
37:08They score,
37:09then you're thinking,
37:10right,
37:10kick on then
37:11and this is a great build up here,
37:12really good from Koulos,
37:13comes short,
37:14runs in behind,
37:15it's great
37:15but then the old tendencies
37:17come back in
37:17because it should be a touch here
37:18playing Tao into the box
37:20and obviously he has a 1v1
37:22but look,
37:22again,
37:23chops,
37:24chops,
37:24don't know when it's coming in,
37:25ends up winning the corner
37:26off of this
37:27but it just kills the momentum.
37:29Again,
37:30big switch of play,
37:31now they've got the overload
37:33on the outside,
37:34they're going again,
37:35just should be a little
37:36simple setback here
37:37to Spence,
37:38cross first time,
37:39look at the back post,
37:402v2,
37:41make Villa defend.
37:42Instead,
37:42this time,
37:43they turn it down,
37:45Spence turns it down,
37:46it comes out
37:46and the momentum's got
37:47the Villa all out there
37:49and this is the one again,
37:50look at Koulos here,
37:51you've got Richarlison now,
37:52could maybe give him
37:53a bit of leniency
37:55but now you've got
37:56a striker in there
37:56but he lets the defender
37:57get back
37:58and again,
37:59he just kept turning it down
38:00and this is what I think
38:02Thomas Frank will be looking at
38:03and his team
38:03moving forward
38:04because this is perfect
38:05for the Spence,
38:06win the ball back,
38:07Tao's driving
38:07and this is what
38:09we'll want to see,
38:10when you debrief,
38:10this is how it would look
38:11so you have,
38:12now stop it,
38:13we've got five versus three,
38:14one and one is to go
38:15into the second,
38:16Black Bear,
38:16have Javis Simmons run on,
38:18Tyrese moves across
38:19and you just slide the ball
38:20into Koulos,
38:20his 1v1 is having
38:21a very easy shot,
38:22instead,
38:23everyone wants to have
38:25their moment in the sun.
38:26I know from another
38:28former centre forward
38:29that sits there
38:30from time to time
38:31how infuriating it is though,
38:33for you as a striker
38:34if that ball doesn't go in
38:35straight away.
38:36Yes it is,
38:37but it's really difficult
38:38to move the ball around
38:39and if you're talking
38:40about Alan Shearer
38:41then I'm not going
38:41to be the one
38:42to tell you how
38:42to score goals.
38:43Go on, go on,
38:44go on,
38:45just for a laugh
38:47it's humiliating,
38:47go on, go on.
38:48I think what he is getting
38:49at,
38:49but you as a striker
38:50you make a run
38:51and if Kudos and Co
38:52were chopping back
38:53and chopping back
38:53you've got to come back
38:54out and make a second
38:55and third run
38:55and by the end
38:56you go,
38:57I'm not doing another run.
38:57What he also does
38:58is it allows the defender
38:59to grab you
39:00and grab holding you
39:00and now the defender's
39:01in control.
39:02If I know when the ball's
39:03coming in the box
39:04I make the movement
39:05and we're in control
39:06and the defender's reacting
39:07to me as opposed
39:08to the other way around
39:09so for me Spurs
39:10have got to get back
39:11to just getting it in quicker
39:12and making the defenders defend.
39:13They also just need
39:14to improve their home form
39:15a bit, don't they?
39:16They're struggling at home
39:17they're struggling at home
39:18this season
39:19look, the fourth worst
39:20home record
39:20isn't very early
39:21I appreciate that
39:22in the Premier League
39:23this season
39:24they didn't have a great
39:25home record last season
39:27either
39:27they just need to turn that
39:29into a bit more
39:29of a fortress, don't they?
39:30Yeah, and last year
39:32obviously they were
39:32concentrating on Europe
39:34was the excuse
39:35but what happens is
39:36it starts to bleed
39:37into this year
39:37now you've got to try
39:38and stem the tide
39:39and get it going
39:40and make it a fortress
39:41but the problem is
39:42it's such a nice ground
39:43that everyone enjoys
39:44going there
39:44so when you have
39:45those moments
39:46to put the ball
39:46in the box
39:47and make it nervous
39:48they've got to do that
39:49and they've got to kill teams.

40:14Wicked one from Kybert

40:22stung Selhurst Park
40:24Gaze clearance isn't enough
40:27and it's another

40:29who knows
40:30who knows
40:31Metcetra
40:33Metcetra
40:33back in the game
40:35Commando, Nunoz, Macheta, total delirium, it's their first part, obviously moved forward
40:45here, Tapania, it's put away by Brian Crissey, two minutes of the 90 remaining, oh it's a
40:53penalty, Kornish at night, Macheta takes over the last ball, Palace wants to win this, Macheta
41:02what entertainment, these two have served up this afternoon, O'Reilly in, there he is,
41:10the main man steps forward again, Bowden, it's picked out Savigno, Harland wants it pulled
41:18back, and Harland makes it two, reaching three to Welbeck, and it did by Danny Welbeck, and
41:28that was so simple, we're going to give her a good ball, Lewis Miley, Baltimore, the brilliant,
41:34scores all kinds of goals this kid, Welbeck is second in this game, here's Michele, going
41:47for the return, and he's scored, what a wonderful tundle and move, it's Talby, and Johnson's
41:55been beaten by his own player, own goal, Crissey, now the win is Seals, comes across, it's in the
42:04sand, just up, the deadlock is broken, that's a decent ball there, and it's made by the head
42:13of Lesley Ugarchukwu, Chowne, he has room, Chowne, screaming from the Burnley substitutes,
42:24Neto, he's going to have a run at Nico Williams here, and it was worth it, and jump long,
42:291-0 Chelsea, oh and it's two, Pedro Neto, and it's all unravelled for Nottingham Forest,
42:383-0, Rhys Griggs, the mood darkens, in Nottingham, Paranj, Costa Coglu, things don't look great,
42:49less than six weeks after taking the job.
42:54And he was then sacked, as we all know, this evening Sean Dyche looks like the favourite
43:00to take over, this morning Marco Silva's name was also in the running, so we looked at the
43:05numbers for both of those men, in comparison to what Forest had with Nuno, and the stats
43:11that persuaded them to give Andrew a go, obviously you can see they're at either end of this spectrum
43:17here, just a couple of those stats further down, the PPDA is passes allowed per defensive
43:22action, so that's how quickly a team wins a ball back, so Nuno's Forest won the ball back
43:27after the opposition had had roughly 15 passes, that's kind of what that means, and then the
43:32direct speed is how quickly they move the ball towards the opponent's goal during the
43:37sequence of possession, but what the numbers show, Troy, is that the closest to Nuno's stats
43:43are Sean Dyches.
43:46Yeah, and I think it's a quick, simple fix for me, for the gaffer to be in there, obviously
43:53worked under Sean Dyches and Marco Silva, I think what he's going to do if Dyches gets the
43:59job is, he's from Nottingham, lives in the area, his staff are obviously ex-legends, so
44:04that instantly gets the crowd.
44:05Steve Stoney, and that's kind of important, because one of the things that was thrown at
44:10Posta Coglu was that he just didn't connect with the area or the club.
44:14Yeah, 100%, and that'll instantly get the fan base up, but I think as well, he tries to
44:19go into places and get some defensively solid. I was at the game yesterday, they were so soft,
44:24and also the confidence has gone. You talk about sales, the goalkeeper last year that
44:29won a joint, what's it, Golden Glove? Is that what you call it? No one really cares about
44:33Golden Glove, so.
44:35I never got one, you're asking the wrong man.
44:38But joint Golden Glove last year, and he's letting in the goals he's letting in this season,
44:42he's just confidence, because he can't go from being so good last year to so poor this
44:47year, that's a confidence issue. Sean will make sure he goes in and make sure everyone's
44:51confident, they know their jobs, simplify it, and get players playing the way they want
44:55to, not have three centre-halves right up on the halfway line.
44:58I mean, there are so many stats there that we just saw, and we can go back to it. One
45:02of the things that probably is very simple to understand is that with that possession of
45:07Dijs, which is very similar to Nuno's, you could play on the counter at all.
45:11Yeah, I mean, Sean Dijs for me would fit it really well, and Nottingham Forest fans were
45:15thinking we want a big name and blah blah blah, but I think the position they're in, then the
45:19relegation zone now, as we sit here tonight. You know, Marnakas yesterday made a decision,
45:23everyone's shocked it took 15 minutes after the game, or whatever it was, to sack the
45:26manager. But in his head, he's thinking, his alarm bell's going off here, we are buying
45:30in trouble here. So he wants a safe pair of hands, and if you're looking at that graph,
45:33or any other graph for that matter, you know, Sean Dijs will be a safe pair of hands to keep
45:37them in the division. And I was going to joke that he reports tonight he's in Nottingham.
45:41But you've killed me, because you said he lives in Nottingham. There's a good chance he's
45:45there. Just very quickly, have a look at the signings that came in in the summer, and
45:50this will presumably, whoever the new manager is, they need to back up the work of their
45:57sporting director who came in in Eddie. They need to play some of these players, don't they?
46:02Well, yeah, most of them have been on the bench as well, but when you look at Omari Hutchinson
46:06and McAtee, they weren't even in the squad yesterday. They were fit and available and
46:10in the stands. So whoever it is has got to really get hold of the group, but also bring
46:14down those numbers and start to forge their team. You have to work with Edu, he's not
46:18going anywhere. You have to work with the ownership, and I just think Sean Dijs fits this mould
46:22really, really well. So hopefully he gets the job and hopefully Forrest can move forward
46:26very, very quickly.
46:27Sorry for ruining your joke.
46:30It was him?
46:30Yeah, it was.
46:31Let's just show you the league table before we go. Liverpool dropped to fourth as a result
46:36of their defeat. Tottenham missed the chance to go second. Manchester United are ninth.
46:41Villa have gone eleventh following their third consecutive win. West Ham play Brentford
46:46tomorrow. That's it. Thanks for Troy and Shea. Good night.
