00:00Hello and welcome to this Queensland Jane's weather update for Monday.

00:04There's a lot going on across the other parts of the country.

00:07Moisture feeding in and sending down to the southeast.

00:09So that's where the action is this week.

00:11They're going to get a one-two punch come through.

00:13Meanwhile, we're out ahead of that.

00:15We certainly have heat.

00:16So what I've turned on today is the heat map here.

00:19So anything yellow and orange, we are in a heat wave.

00:21Just to really, really point out just how widespread that heat is

00:25out ahead of this weather system.

00:26So we've got that to deal with a couple of times during the week.

00:30I'll get to those temperatures shortly.

00:31But let's have a look day by day.

00:33So here's Monday and here is our surge of heat.

00:35The red and purple colours that are coming down in through here.

00:38So we are firmly in the thick of it today.

00:40Hardly any wet weather.

00:41As we go through Tuesday, there's our band of rain.

00:43It is not coming to us.

00:45We've still got that heat that is out ahead of it.

00:47Heading into Wednesday, we're getting very patchy activity in through here.

00:51The heat is here.

00:52It's right down into the southeast in through these parts here.

00:54So Wednesday, still looking fairly dry, considering all of the rain that is happening

00:58to our south and over to our west.

01:01Having a look at Thursday, there's just the very light remains of that.

01:03But the heat is retreating further northwards.

01:06There's another system that is building over in the west.

01:08So let's now watch that one as we're going to Friday.

01:11Here it is to our west.

01:12We're hardly seeing anything at all.

01:13But yes, the heat is here.

01:15Having a look at Saturday, the heat is right down into the southeast.

01:19But this is where we may start to see some showers and storms.

01:21Here's the main system, back over to our west and heading to our south as we move across

01:26the weekend.

01:27But showers and storms do return to the southeast.

01:29They're bigger there on Sunday.

01:31We've got heat that is slowly retreating northwards.

01:34And then into Monday, look at that heat disappear.

01:36This is a full week away next Monday.

01:39And we've got showers and summer storms in through here.

01:41Now, this is where we flip patterns as we start next week.

01:45So week two, this is when we're likely to see more activity that's happening over Queensland,

01:49the Northern Territory and northern parts of Western Australia.

01:52So this is the kickoff of the next weather pattern in our system.

01:56At the moment, all of the focus is in the south.

01:59As we move into week two, that'll be coming to us here.

02:02So in terms of totals, this is the start of that kicking off.

02:05We've got showers and thunderstorms over the southeast.

02:07Otherwise, there really isn't much to focus on other than the heat.

02:11So in the southeast corner, let's just have a look at Brisbane.

02:14We're at 30, 31, 31, 36 as we go through Thursday.

02:17We drop back down again, 34 as we go through Sunday and then drop back down.

02:22It's hardly any wet weather during the week here, 0.4 of a millimetre in through here.

02:26On Saturday, Sunday and into Monday, that was when we're likely to see showers and thunderstorms pop up over the southeast corner.

02:32So for the moment, there's not much happening in Queensland.

02:35It's all to our west and to our south.

02:36But in week two, that's when things get very interesting for our state once again.
