00:00Hello and welcome to this Jane's Weather Update for Victoria for Monday.
00:04We have a northwest cloud band. Moisture is pouring in from the Indian Ocean
00:08and it's all driven by the engine room of this system which is over in the west.
00:13Today we're seeing this band of light, or sometimes it's light, generally it's light
00:18but there have been some okay falls of 5 to 10 millimetres, but generally a light and patchy band of rain.
00:23This is just the first bit, there is part 2 and part 3 that is still to come
00:28so we've got a fair bit of wet weather that is coming our way this week.
00:31You'll notice the cold air down in through here, the speckled cloud, that is confined to Tasmania.
00:36We are not seeing it here on the mainland at all.
00:38Let's go through day by day. Out ahead of this we've got a heat wave that is over New South Wales
00:43and all of the interior and through there. That here is shown by the red and purple line
00:47so there's all of the heat that is out ahead of this system that is not affecting us here.
00:52We have the band of rain that is coming through these parts, very slowly moving northwards during the day
00:56and dissipating. Part 1, we are not done with the rain after that.
01:01Let's now go into part 2. Here is the engine room, the cut-off low that is driving this.
01:06We've still got our moisture that is pouring in. Great day for South Australia as we go through Tuesday
01:10and it starts in the western parts of Victoria later on Tuesday.
01:14Let's now have a look at Wednesday. Here's the cut-off low. It's heading down in through here.
01:18Out to our east by the end of Wednesday, but we get all of this rain because we are in the path of the low.
01:24So these are nice falls as they come through. Anything here, 15 to 25, 10 to 15, 5 to 10
01:30as it comes through. A nice drop of rain coming in during the day on Wednesday.
01:34So there's Wednesday. Let's now have a look at Thursday. That clears out.
01:38Next high-pressure system comes in. So Thursday and Friday, not much happening.
01:41But hello, there's another rain system that is brewing over to the west.
01:45It's got its own cut-off low and it is heading in our direction.
01:48The heat that comes in in between these systems is not coming down to us here.
01:54And the cold air is being confined to Tasmania.
01:56Right, so here we are in the middle. Let's now go through Saturday.
01:59This is the big low that is moving through Sunday and into Monday next week as well.
02:05So significant rain across the next week in Victoria for the very vast majority of the state.
02:11Let's see what that might add up to. 25 to 50 millimetres.
02:15Anything yellow is that. Higher falls on the eastern ranges, even 15 to 25.
02:20So all in through here, the entire state is in the path of these couple of rain systems
02:25that are moving through. So this week is a wet weather week.
02:28Let's have a look at what that means for Melbourne.
02:29There is light rain at times. That clears out during the afternoon.
02:33Tomorrow, dry for much of the day.
02:35And then the next burst of rain comes in.
02:37So that's light as we go through Tuesday.
02:39Wednesday, that's when we're likely to see most of it.
02:4112 millimetres is the average across the models as it stands on Monday morning.
02:45So a millimetre left, a millimetre developing tomorrow,
02:4812 millimetres as we go through Wednesday.
02:51That clears out on Thursday. Temperatures are down.
02:53That's our chilliest day of the week with the 16 there.
02:56We're about 18 by Friday.
02:57Then the next one kicks off.
02:58So there's no warmth with this one either.
03:00Next weekend is looking quite wet.
03:02So we've got rain developing on Saturday,
03:04continuing on Sunday and into Monday as well.
03:07As always, head to Farm Online Weather for the latest.
03:09So we'll see you next week.
