00:00Hey guys, salut mes amis, och hallรฅ gubbar!
00:03Speaking of an update this week, it's here, but hold your horses, it's a beta, you can
00:07try it out right now by right clicking the game, hitting properties, betas, and launching
00:12the Release Candidate 1 version.
00:14So to be clear, this is not live, it's in a beta, and let's talk about it right after
00:18Skins Monkey.
00:20Skins Monkey is an automated service that lets you trade skins instantly for a fee,
00:24sign up now, and get up to $5 bonus.
00:26Simply add items from your inventory, then find skins that matches your current balance,
00:30site offers live support 24-7, you can also top up your balance if you're missing a few
00:34dollars, and there's a lot of skins to choose from.
00:37Visit my link down below to get to Skins Monkey.
00:40The reason this updates in beta is because it includes engine changes and some gameplay
00:44tweaks that could easily cause a few bugs, and trust me there are bugs, but that's exactly
00:49why betas exist.
00:50So we can laugh without crying.
00:53Valve also made it clear this version isn't compatible with matchmaking.
00:57But anyway, under the engine section the first note says the game now uses the newest version
01:01of Source 2.
01:03You'd think this means good news, like better performance or stability from new modules,
01:07but my guess is as good as yours, and perhaps we'll learn more in the future.
01:12Next note basically says bullets now go through walls and use less CPU.
01:17I just talked about this.
01:19Walls are built like tanks, and sometimes bullets even freeze mid-air.
01:23This has actually been addressed, except it also completely broke it.
01:27I tested it on Nuke to see how many walls I could shoot through, and, well, I almost lost
01:32count as I was outside T spawn killing someone outside CT spawn.
01:37Good thing this is in beta.
01:39Next patch is related to shooting, something Kitchen has talked about, and the update mentions
01:43a reduced overall CPU usage, which might help certain systems to get better performance.
01:49At least, that's what I get from reading this.
01:51To test it, I joined my friend Fogel's server so I wasn't hosting it myself.
01:56We used prepositioned smoke throws, and I was shooting him in the end.
01:59You know, all in the name of science or whatever.
02:02We ran the test twice, measured everything with CapFrame X, I even enabled the milliseconds
02:07between display change metric, thanks to Kitchen.
02:10But looking at the results, nothing major stood out, and any difference was normal test variants.
02:15But this was a simple test, maybe the update doesn't have an effect on my system, but I
02:20wouldn't be shocked if someone like Kitchen is able to dig deeper and find something else,
02:25something juicy.
02:26Now onto the gameplay section, and this one's big.
02:29Diffusing now lowers your weapon view model, even while switching they still behave the same,
02:34you can even see it in third person.
02:35But on top of that, there's now a 150ms delay to shoot after cancelling a defuse.
02:42What most people probably don't understand is why.
02:44The reason is because the delay lines up with the animation, so when the gun lifts back up,
02:50that's your visual cue that you can fire again.
02:52Now if you're worried that this just reduces the skill in the game, I agree.
02:56This implementation is a little bit confusing.
02:58Unless, Valve's goal was to nerf CT side.
03:02And it starts making sense.
03:04It makes even more sense to me when you also learn that you can no longer scope while defusing.
03:09And if you're already scoped, it'll just unscope you when you defuse.
03:12All this sounds to me like they're just doing this to nerf CT side.
03:17And of course, the unscope thing brought a fun little bug, where you can speed up the
03:21ops fire rate by cancelling the defuse and basically spam no scopes.
03:25Classic Valve, but again, that's what betas are for.
03:28Moving on, Valve fixed an issue where one tick was incorrectly subtracted from this command.
03:33It refers to this reddit post from 13 days ago by sebcs416 about teleportation being reintroduced,
03:40and when I mean reintroduced, this was a problem from last year.
03:44John MacDonald from Valve replied to that post, and now this patch note confirms it's been addressed.
03:50Then we get to some UI changes.
03:51Valve added a spectator loadout feature for match hiali- I'm not gonna show it, you get the point.
03:57But this next one is pretty nice though, it makes it a lot clearer which player you're selecting while spectating.
04:02These things are kinda nice.
04:04Another small but nice quality of life change is when you right click an item in your inventory.
04:08The menu pops up closer to your mouse, huge time saver.
04:12And finally, the fire mode icon, the little symbol for your gun's firing mode,
04:16now looks different and sits under your ammo count, making it easier to notice at a glance.
04:21The rest of the patch notes are map scripting changes, and Chicago Ben is back, and the vibes
04:27are good.
04:28Outside of that, Gabe followers spotted new strings mentioning game journal,
04:32plus updated UI styles for retakes.
04:35Both sound like teasers for future updates, and retakes was already in the pipeline, so it must be
04:41very close now.
04:42As for the game journal, it could mean anything, but knowing Valve, it's probably related to money.
04:48That's what I got for you today, I'll see you soon, and Go Bananas!
