01:22The first of two crucial televised debates ahead of the November 4th election saw intense

01:27bickering and sharp exchanges between frontrunner Zoran Mamdani, Democrat, independent candidate

01:31and former Governor Andrew Cuomo, and Republican Curtis Sliwa.

01:35With early voting beginning October 25th, the stakes are incredibly high for the leadership

01:39of NYC's 8.5 million residents, Mamdani versus Cuomo, a Democratic divide, Zoran Mamdani, a

01:4533-year-old state assembly member from Queens, secured the Democratic nomination in a surprising

01:50upset over the influential Andrew Cuomo.

01:53Mamdani champions progressive policies including free bus service in NYC, rent control, and city-supervised

01:58supermarkets.

02:00Cuomo, however, has dismissed these plans as economically impossible, pipe dreams, and excessive

02:05government interference, clashing over their viability.Trump's controversial involvement,

02:09the debate took a dramatic turn with President Donald Trump's direct involvement.
