A potentially life-threatening tropical storm is forming in the Atlantic — and meteorologists are closely watching its path. A tropical wave off the coast of Africa is expected to reach the eastern Caribbean by the end of this weekend. While many waves fade out, this one could strengthen into a named storm — either Melissa or Nestor — and possibly threaten the Caribbean, Central America, and even the U.S. East Coast.
AccuWeather has warned that in a worst-case scenario, this storm could gain power in the central Caribbean and track north toward Florida and the Atlantic coast of the U.S. With the 2025 hurricane season still active, this system could become one of the most dangerous storms yet.
