00:10the eradication of poverty this isn't just a day it's a call to our heart a reminder of who we are
00:17as nigerians resilient communal unbreakable 38 years ago in paris thousands gathered to honor
00:26those fighting poverty's grave they carved a truth in stone poverty is a violation of human rights
00:33that truth echoes here in nigeria where millions of our brothers and sisters face daily struggles
00:41for instance families in makoko and ajegule are unable to afford quality health care farmers in
00:48bono and yobe are ate by conflict and terrorism and children on the streets of many northern states
00:55are dreaming of school but are held back by poverty and hunger globally according to the united nations
01:03690 million people live on less than 2.15 dollars a day in nigeria poverty wears a familiar face
01:13the murder selling petty goods in the market praying for enough to feed our kids the youth hustling in
01:20traffic chasing a better tomorrow yet their strength inspires us they are not just surviving they are
01:27fighting teaching us what resilience means this year the world calls for just societies free from the
01:36maltreatment poverty brings in nigeria we know this fight from the cost of living crisis to floods and
01:44insecurity the odds are high while politicians grow fat on our collective resources our citizens are
01:52getting thinner hungry tired and left behind there is hope though according to the united nations since
02:011990 over a billion people globally have escaped extreme poverty nigeria can also change the narrative but
02:10only if our government steps up with real policies for jobs schools and health care backed by our spirit
02:18of resilience we can get this right so nigeria what's our move let's trend ash end poverty on social media
02:27support local ngos like those training youth or feeding families demand our leaders do better invest in
02:34hospitals schools and social safety nets not just their own pockets join events across the nation from
02:43north to south east to west and stand with those fighting poverty this october 17 let's make a promise
02:52to build a nigeria where no one is left behind where every also count and every dream has a chance
