00:00Welcome to the Mercury Prize in Newcastle. How are you guys today?
00:04I'm a little bit tired and excitement.
00:08You've obviously been to the Mercury Prize many times before, veterans of this game.
00:12What does it mean to you to be back and to be nominated and also to be up there among the favourites for this year?
00:18It's always really nice to get on a short list because a hell of a lot of music gets released every year.
00:23So to be picked out as 12 to look at then that's really great.
00:29We never do a record saying you're aiming to get on all the short lists this year or next year.
00:38There has been a lot of love around more generally, not just with awards but with the fans as well and critics.
00:44Has that kind of got you itching to make another album really soon? No?
00:48No, not itching.
00:50Not itching, no. An EP maybe, or a single. An LP.
00:58A lot of work.
00:59Something undertaken.
01:00Yeah.
01:01Yeah.
01:02Any ideas for a single or an EP in the works at the moment?
01:05No.
01:06No.
01:07That's fair.
01:08Exactly.
01:09How has it all been going?
01:10Amazing.
01:11Yeah, it's been really great.
01:13We just did a month in America.
01:15Yes.
01:16Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:17A little late to the party but they seem to be showing their appreciation.
01:22Yeah.
01:23You did some shows in Los Angeles with LCD Sound System who you've worked with before.
01:28Have you got any plans to do anything together again?
01:31No.
01:32I don't think so.
01:33No.
01:34Fair enough.
01:35Just a good excuse to play the Hollywood Bowl and have a bit of a do.
01:38Always lovely.
01:39Is there anyone on the short list tonight that you'd like to work with in the future do you think?
01:43Working with is a difficult one, isn't it?
01:45Yeah.
01:46Yeah.
01:47It's not working well with other people, I don't think.
01:50No.
01:51Why not?
01:52I don't know.
01:53I can't think of any time when I actually worked.
01:56Richard Hawley.
01:57Richard Hawley.
01:58No.
01:59Not bad.
02:02The Mercury Prize is of course in Newcastle outside of London for the first time this year.
02:06As a band from the north, what does it mean to you or why do you think it's important to have these kind of things outside of London?
02:12It's got to be shared.
02:14It can't, everything can't be based around London.
02:17It's got to come up north.
02:18Loaded fun night out.
02:19I'm all for it.
02:20Amazing.
02:21Thank you so much guys.
02:22Have a great night.
02:23Good luck.
