00:00That is South Bombay resident Shobhadeh spotted enjoying an invite-only inaugural ride on
00:10Mumbai's latest flashy Metro 3 on Instagram.
00:14The same project, if you recall, she and many other environmental activists opposed in 2019.
00:19Cut to October 8, 2025, Mumbai's Metro Aqua Line 3 connecting Whirly to Cuff Parade becomes
00:25the city's first fully underground metro corridor.
00:29As Google Maps makes people try the fresh, swanky metro line showing compelling travel
00:33times, when compared to Bombay's notorious road traffic in key locations, the MMRC also
00:40introduced Wi-Fi to Woo locals.
00:42As they and Deora, among many others, praised the design and efficiency of the line, the
00:46internet wasn't amused at Shobha's apparent hypocrisy.
00:50The 25-acre car shed for the now operational Metro Line 3, located in the RA forest, has
00:55been embroiled in controversy around tree-felling, with many vehemently opposing it for environmental
01:01concerns.
01:02Even the Supreme Court had stepped in, slapping a Rs 10 lakh fine on MMRC for exceeding the
01:07tree-felling limit.
01:08Months later, it seems the opposition has churned into praise, with many like Dei hopping
01:13onto the Metro and reaching Mumbai's RA forest from Cuff Parade in an hour.
01:18As Dei puts it, this is what happens when citizens and government agencies combine forces to do what's
01:23best for the city.
01:24So, while the Metro came to RA in no time, is the background noise forgotten already?
