With reports of counterfeit toys flooding the UK market, we asked people in Birmingham whether they could tell the difference between real and fake products, and if they’ve ever accidentally bought one.

00:01Well you can tell what's real because you've either seen a real one or you've had a real one
00:04so you'll know it looks like this, but it's just money making getting fake ones isn't it?
00:08Some people can't afford the real ones so they're going for the fake ones, just it's all money making.
00:13So yeah, some things that I have bought online have came out as like a BTEC version of it
00:18and I'm thinking like how did this happen?
00:21But then I think, not to be rude, but some things that you see online now are looking so realistic
00:26like AI for example, and then you may be thinking oh right like...
00:30No, not for me.
00:32Not that I've been aware of having bought anything that's counterfeit.
00:35And as for your toy question, it's been many a year since I've had to buy a toy.
00:39So it really is, I wouldn't know.
00:43Yes, I've seen TV programmes where they're talking about they've seized counterfeit toys
00:49because of the toxicity in their paints and things like that.
00:52But I wouldn't be able to really comment anymore because I don't purchase toys and things like that.
