The digestive system breaks down food into nutrients that the body uses for energy, growth, and repair, and then removes waste. It is a long, twisting tube called the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which includes the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and anus. It also involves accessory organs like the liver, pancreas, and gallbladder, which aid in the process.

00:00In this video we will take a quick look at the organs of the digestive system. Let's go.
00:08Mouth. The mouth is the entry point for food and the beginning of the digestive process.
00:14Food is broken down into smaller pieces by the teeth and mixed with saliva,
00:19which contains enzymes that start the process of breaking down carbohydrates.
00:23Esophagus. The esophagus is a muscular tube that connects the mouth to the stomach.
00:30It uses rhythmic contractions called peristalsis to move food down to the stomach.
00:36Stomach. The stomach is a muscular sac that churns and mixes food with gastric juices,
00:42which contain enzymes and hydrochloric acid that break down proteins and kill bacteria.
00:47Small intestine. The small intestine is a long,
00:52narrow tube where most of the nutrients from food are absorbed into the bloodstream.
00:57It receives digestive enzymes from the pancreas and bile from the liver to help break down food.
01:03Large intestine. The large intestine is a wider tube that absorbs water and electrolytes from
01:09undigested food, forming feces. The feces are eliminated from the body through the rectum
01:15and anus during bowel movements. Pancreas. The pancreas is an organ that produces digestive enzymes
01:22that break down carbohydrates, proteins, and fats in the small intestine.
01:28Liver. The liver produces bile, which helps break down fats in the small intestine.
01:34It also helps detoxify harmful substances in the blood.
01:38Gallbladder. The gallbladder is a small organ that stores bile produced by the liver and releases
01:50it into the small intestine when needed to help digest fats.
01:53Liver. The gallbladder is a big sugar that helps keep shepherdulen frequently.
01:55Liver. The heart of the pancreas. The lactose? The monsieurmother. The calmly
