00:00State threats are escalating.
00:03In the last year, we've seen a 35% increase
00:06in the number of individuals we're investigating
00:08for involvement in state threat activity.
00:12That means espionage,
00:14including against our parliament, our universities,
00:17our critical infrastructure.
00:19But now, states are also consistently descending
00:22into ugly methods MI5 is more used to seeing
00:24in our terrorism casework.
00:27My teams are routinely uncovering attempts by state actors
00:30to commission surveillance, sabotage, arson,
00:35or physical violence right here in the UK.
00:39We're dealing with these threats every day.
00:43We wish we weren't, but we're rising to the challenge.
