00:00Uruguay's Senate passed a law decriminalizing euthanasia on Wednesday, becoming one of the
00:05few countries where the practice is legal.
00:07It is the first predominantly Catholic Latin American country to approve the measure through
00:12legislation.
00:13The law permits euthanasia for any psychologically fit person with an incurable illness that
00:18causes unbearable suffering.
00:20Unlike in many other countries, a terminal diagnosis is not required.
