00:33That was mine.
00:34Was it?
00:34The work of William Friedkin for me.
00:37Yeah.
00:37Michael Mann.
00:38Yeah.
00:39Terence Malick.
00:40Probably the first movie that I ever saw as a child,
00:44at least the one that I remember and that made me fall in love,
00:49was Bambi.
00:51Which I still think, as an adult, that is a masterpiece.
00:55You know, American movies of the 70s,
00:58they did make some incredible cinema then.
01:04And then, you know, Italian movies,
01:07things that I've grown up with, you know,
01:09all our old movies, old masters,
01:12that they, you know, I still watch them every time I can.
01:15I have this soft spot for gangster movies.
01:19I think Goodfellas, Godfather 2,
01:23I think it's appropriate to mention Heat.
01:24I've seen that a lot.
01:26I think to smuggle human character studies,
01:29like these films I'm mentioning,
01:30into American genre movies fascinates me.
01:32and I will also say, I think Paul Thomas Anderson's most recent film,
01:36One Battle After Another,
01:38that's one I'm going to watch a lot, again and again, I think.
01:40To be quite frank, I'm here because of Sean,
01:42because he just introduced my film
01:44and has spread his love for sentimental values.
01:47So we spent all last night together
01:50and I'm a huge fan of Sean Penn.
01:52Yeah, I think he's a wonderful actor.
01:54He didn't explain to me how big this situation was.
02:05I heard my name a lot tonight,
02:07but I've been very comfortable with it
02:10in the sense that knowing Cuckoo's Nest was going to play,
02:14there was no question I was going to be able to find great humility
02:18under the circumstances.
02:19One of the great magic moments in my life in cinema
02:25was the first time I saw Jack Nicholson in Miloš Formans
02:29when I flew over the Cuckoo's Nest.
