President Donald Trump posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, calling him a “fearless warrior for American liberty.” The Rose Garden ceremony honored Kirk’s legacy following his fatal shooting during a Utah speech, an event that sparked national grief and political debate. Trump declared October 14 the “National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk,” praising him as a martyr for free speech and vowing to continue his mission through future conservative movements.

00:00Today, we're here to honor and remember a fearless
00:04warrior for liberty, beloved leader who
00:06galvanized the next generation like nobody
00:10I've ever seen before, and an American patriot of
00:14the deepest conviction, the finest quality, and
00:17the highest caliber, the late, great Charlie Kirk.
00:21Five weeks ago, our nation was robbed of this
00:31extraordinary champion.
00:33He was a champion in every way.
00:35I got to know him so well.
00:37He didn't like losing.
00:41And he was able to fight people that were enemies,
00:44and he didn't necessarily love those enemies so much.
00:47You know, I heard he loved his enemies, and I said,
00:50wait a minute, is that the same Charlie that I know?
00:54I'm not sure, but I didn't want to get into it.
00:58But it was a horrible, heinous, demonic act of
01:02murder.
01:03He was assassinated in the prime of his life for
01:06boldly speaking the truth, for living his faith, and
01:10relentlessly fighting for a better and stronger America.
01:14He loved this country.
01:15And that's why this afternoon, it's my privilege to
01:18award Charles James Kirk, our nation's highest
01:23civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
01:30Any more, you hear those sirens going off?
01:32That's good.
01:32That's a good sound.
01:34That means they either got the bad guy or they're
01:36going to stop the bad guy.
01:38You didn't hear that sound because nobody wanted to
01:41do anything.
01:43Nobody, listen to the beauty of that sound.
