00:00Two separate courts in the Nigeria Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Tuesday fixed October 27 and November 20, 2025 for the commencement of the lawsuits brought before them by the founder and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omiele Sawari and the Department of State Service.
00:18The SS overissue of posts published on X and Facebook social media platforms that allegedly described President Bola Ahmed Talubu as a criminal after the President allegedly said there is no more corruption in Nigeria while the President was speaking at an event in Brazil in the month of August, 2025.
00:37According to Omiele Sawari's lawyer, Tote Temokan, today, at the Federal High Court in Abuja, proceedings commenced in the historic cases filed by rights activist Omiele Sawari challenging the clampdown on free speech and political expression by the Department of State Services, SSS, in collusion with global social media giants Meta, Facebook, Instagram, and X Corporation, Twitter.
01:04The suits are, Omiele Sawari vs. SSS and Meta, FHC, ABJ, CS, 1887-2025.
01:15Omiele Sawari vs. SSS and X Corporation, FHC, ABJ, CS, 1888-2025.
01:24Sawari was represented by a formidable team of lawyers, led by Tote Temokan, Abu Bakr Marshall, Alexander Akheta, Dr. S.M. Oyaher, Dr. Maxwell Opara, Akin Sawari, and Akoje Saber.
01:41Representation for the respondents, Meta appeared through Mifesimo Teo Yetibo, San, X Corporation and the DSS had no counsel present in court.
01:51Proceedings. The court granted motions ex-party filed by Sawari's counsel for leave to serve Meta and X Corporation outside jurisdiction through electronic means.
02:03The originating motion against Meta was also served in court on Meta's counsel.
02:07Adjournment. The court adjourned both matters to November 20, 2025, for hearing.
02:15These suits filed, following the DSS attempted censorship of Sawari's social media post, calling the president a criminal,
02:23mark a significant stand against both local repression and international collaboration in silencing dissenting voices.
02:29Sawari insists that no government agency or foreign corporation has the right to muzzle Nigerians in the digital space,
02:37Barrister Tote Temokan stated on September 30, 2025.
02:42At a separate court where the federal government of Nigeria filed a five-count charges against the news media publisher,
02:49Omiyele Sawari and the DSS had planned to arraign the publisher before the court.
02:54Vanguard newspaper reported that, when the matter came up, Sawari's counsel, Marshal Abu Bakar, objected to the charges being read,
03:03arguing that his client had not been properly served.
03:06He also noted the absence of legal representation for X.
03:11However, Meta was represented in court by a team led by senior advocate of Nigeria, Teo Ayetebo.
03:18Justice Muhammad Umar, presiding, directed that Sawari be served in court,
03:24an order not opposed by any of the parties, including Muhammad Babadokou, director of public prosecutions of the federation.
03:32The court then adjourned the case to October 27 for commencement of trial.
03:37Punch newspaper also reported that, the DPPF then applied for an order to serve Sawari in open court, which the judge granted.
03:46Sawari accepted the documents in court.
03:48He subsequently requested three days, as provided by law, to study the charge and prepare his defense.
03:56While the DPPF objected, Justice Garber upheld the request and adjourned the arraignment to October 27.
04:04The court will adjourn to the 27th day of October for the arraignment of the defendants, Justice Garber said.
04:10The suit dated the 16th of September 2025, was launched after Sawari allegedly refused to delete the controversial posts about the president.
04:20The Sahara Reporter's publisher was accused of using his official X handle to make the post.
04:26This criminal at official PBAT actually went to Brazil to state that there is no more corruption under his regime in Nigeria.
04:34What audacity to lie shamelessly, the alleged offending post, said to be contrary to Section 24, 2, B, of the Cybercrimes Prohibition and Prevention Act 2024, was said to have been made on August 25 within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court.
04:52The charges were brought on behalf of the DSS and the Federal Government by M.B. Abu Bakr, Director of Public Prosecutions at the Federal Ministry of Justice, alongside four other counsel to the DSSM.
05:07E. Ernest, U.B. Buller, Dr. C.S., EZ, and E.G. Ourobor, Social Media Companies X Inc. and Meta Platforms Inc. are listed as co-defendants.
05:20Confirming the legal action in a Facebook post last week, Sawari wrote,
05:25The State Security Service, alias at Officials Inc. today filed a five-count charge at the Federal High Court in Abuja against, X, formerly Twitter Facebook, and myself.
05:38They claimed that because I called Asawadju Bola Ahmed Tanubu a criminal, I have somehow committed a set of, novel, offences they invented and spread across five counts.
05:48It's hard to believe there's anyone sensible left in these offices that should be making Nigeria work.
05:55Regardless, I will be present whenever this case is assigned for trial.
06:00Revolutiono, Punch Online had earlier reported that the human rights activist and African Action Congress candidate in the 2023 election vowed not to delete the controversial tweet,
06:11despite a request from the DSS to X demanding its removal.
06:15Restating his stance, Sawari wrote,
06:18This morning, X, formerly Twitter, officially contacted me about the despicable threat letter they received from the lawless DSS over my tweet on Tanubu.
06:28One option I will not be taking is deleting the tweet.
06:31Thank you, at X.
06:33Information from the Nigerian presidency has indicated that there is a plan by President Bola Ahmed Tanubu to begin legal action against the country former president.
06:50Good luck Abele Jonathan over sustained and continuous rumors in certain quarters that ex-President Jonathan may have indicated interest to recontest as Nigeria president in 2027.
07:03This, the special advisor to President Bola Ahmed Tanubu on information and strategy,
07:08Bayo Onanuga said Jonathan is welcome to join the 2027 presidential electoral race.
07:15But Jonathan will have his date in the court of the land, indeed, the jury will determine whether Jonathan, who was sworn in twice as president,
07:23satisfies the constitutional requirements and is eligible to contest the presidency and be sworn in, if successful, for a third term in office.
07:33It would be recalled that ex-President Jonathan was one of the most criticized presidents in Nigeria,
07:38with politicians, including President Bola Ahmed Tanubu, who was then a chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria,
07:46ACN forming a coalition of all progressives Congress, APC to defeat the incumbent president in 2015.
07:54Currently, there is also a coalition formed by politicians in Nigeria,
07:59the African Democratic Congress, ADC to defeat and remove President Tanubu from office in 2027
08:05and lately, reports indicated that the former president,
08:09good luck Jonathan is considering joining the African Democratic Congress, ADC,
08:14but no official announcement has been made.
08:17The speculation intensified after Jonathan met with ADC national chairman, David Mark in late September 2025,
08:25amidst ongoing discussions about the 2027 presidential election.
08:30And Jonathan's closed-door meeting with ADC leaders on September 25, 2025,
08:37fueled widespread speculation about his potential run for the presidency on their platform.
08:43In a statement issued on Monday,
08:45Bayo Onanuga, the spokesperson to President Bola Ahmed Tanubu, said,
08:50As we begin the march towards the 2027 elections prematurely foisted on the nation by the desperation of the opposition
08:58ganging up against President Bola Tanubu despite his glaring giant economic strides,
09:04we are once again regaled with a cacophony of voices, most of them full of sound and fury,
09:09signifying nothing, to paraphrase inimitable Williams Shakespeare in one of his classic works, Macbeth.
09:15One recent statement that stands out in its absurdity is Professor Jerry Garner's.
09:22The former Minister of Information and National Orientation,
09:25moving to draft former President Goodluck Jonathan into the 2007 presidential race,
09:31affirmed that the former president would contest the coming election on the platform of the discredited People's Democratic Party, PDP,
09:39which bequeathed a legacy of economic ruins, after 16 years of bad governance.
09:44Garner even deluded himself, asserting that the former president would defeat President Tanubu to reclaim power after 12 years.
09:53Professor, Garner of the defunct MAMSER fame is free to delude himself and engage in his usual comedy.
10:01After all, Jonathan's entering the race would provide another job for the Niger state-born former university don.
10:07However, we should caution former President Jonathan to be wary of the PDP sugar-coated cheerleaders.
10:15Politicians of Jerry Garner's ilk merely want to lure him into the race to satisfy their personal, political, religious, and ethnic interests.
10:25They will abandon him mid-stream, as they did in 2015, and leave Gentleman Jonathan in the lurch.
10:31Don't get us wrong, President Jonathan reserves the right to run if he wishes.
10:37It is his inalienable right to contest the presidency again.
10:41President Tanubu will wholeheartedly welcome him if he decides to enter the race.
10:46But Jonathan will have his date in the court of the land.
10:50Indeed, the jury will determine whether Jonathan, who was sworn in twice as president,
10:56satisfies the constitutional requirements and is eligible to contest the presidency and be sworn in, if successful, for a third term in office.
11:06Shorn of all those selfish considerations for which some PDP big guns find his candidacy appealing,
11:12President Jonathan will also have his encounter with the people as to whether he has anything new to offer after his disastrous six years,
11:20for which they voted him out in 2015.
11:22Let us remind ourselves about Jonathan's record.
11:27We cannot forget in a hurry how his regime, devoid of any clear economic agenda,
11:32engaged in frivolous spending, ran the economy aground and put the country in dire straits.
11:38The nation's economic downturn, which President Tanubu is working very hard to overcome,
11:44actually began under President Jonathan.
11:46The Jonathan administration severely damaged the economy,
11:50and all key indicators declined under his watch.
11:53Under him, the so-called business moguls allocated foreign exchange to import fuel,
11:59simply pocketing the dollars without importing anything.
12:02Some of those big men still have court cases on the issue today.
12:07Jonathan and his national security advisor,
12:10Colonel Sambo Dosuki, retired, freely distributed security funds to friends and cronies.
12:16In 2010, President Jonathan inherited a total of $66 billion,
12:22of which $46 billion was in foreign reserves and $20 billion in the noble but abused excess crude account.
12:29By 2015, when the people democratically removed him from office,
12:34the foreign reserves had fallen below $30 billion,
12:37and the excess crude account had been depleted to $2 billion,
12:41despite generating record revenue from crude oil sales that the country had never achieved in more than 25 years combined.
12:50It is on record that between 2010 and 2013,
12:54crude oil sold for an average of $100 per barrel.
12:57By December 2014, however,
13:00the Jonathan-led federal government could no longer pay salaries to federal civil servants.
13:06At least 28 states across the country owed workers' huge salary arrears.
13:11In contrast, President Anubu has taken bold decisions over the last 28 months to reset the economy,
13:18removing the ruinous fuel subsidy and abolishing multiple exchange rates,
13:23which paved the way for arbitrage to flourish.
13:25The President has stabilized the economy in slightly over two years in office.
13:31In 2025 Q2, the gross domestic product grew by 4.23%,
13:37the highest in four years, outpacing the 3.4% projected by the International Monetary Fund.
13:44Inflation decreased to 20.12% in August 2025,
13:49the lowest level in three years.
13:51The foreign reserves stand presently at $42.03 billion.
13:57The Naira has virtually stabilized.
14:00Investor confidence in our economy has been restored,
14:03and investors are betting on Nigeria.
14:06In plain language, the nation has turned the corner,
14:09and our people have started reaping the gains of the bold reforms instituted by the Tanubu administration.
14:15Road infrastructure is being boosted.
14:19Old roads are being reconstructed while new ones,
14:22like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Sokotoba-Dagri Highway, among others,
14:28are springing up.
14:29The government is addressing security issues in some parts of the country.
14:34We can go on and on,
14:35reeling out the many macroeconomic gains of the Tanubu administration.
14:39However, the point is that the PDP and Jerry Garner's co-travellers broke the economy.
14:46President Tanubu is fixing it.
14:48President Jonathan and others are welcome to the 2027 race.
14:53They broke the economy before,
14:55but millions of Nigerians,
14:57who will not easily forget the recent past,
14:59will not allow them to return and run it down again.
15:02Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday stated that many world leaders
15:14who do come out publicly to condemn the Israel war in Gaza,
15:19do privately thank Israel for staging the war against Hamas,
15:23and according to Benjamin Netanyahu,
15:25the world leaders tell me how much they value Israel's superb intelligence services
15:30that have prevented time and again terrorist attacks in their capitals,
15:34time and again saving countless lives.
15:37General George Keegan,
15:38former head of U.S. Air Force Intelligence,
15:41once said,
15:42if the United States had to gather on its own the intelligence that Israel gives us,
15:47we would have to establish 5CIs.
15:505CIs.
15:52This past June,
15:53when Israel struck Iran's nuclear facilities,
15:56German Chancellor Mertz admitted the truth.
15:58This,
15:59Benjamin Netanyahu stated when the speech was being broadcast live via huge loudspeakers
16:05that were placed on the Gaza border while the Israel Prime Minister,
16:09Benjamin Netanyahu was speaking at the United Nations General Assembly,
16:14which,
16:14his appearance drew a mix of applause and protest,
16:17with some delegates walking out of the hall as he took the stage.
16:21You know deep down that Israel is fighting your fight.
16:25I want to tell you a secret,
16:26behind closed doors,
16:28many of the leaders who publicly condemn us,
16:31privately thank us,
16:32Benjamin Netanyahu stated in response.
16:35Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated and blamed the Israel war in Gaza on Iran,
16:41saying,
16:42Iran terror axis threatened the peace of the entire world.
16:45Some parts of the long speech by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the United Nations General Assembly are presented verbatim below.
16:54Mr. President,
16:56the families of our dear hostages languishing in the dungeons of Gaza,
17:00ladies and gentlemen,
17:02last year,
17:03I stood at this podium,
17:04and I showed this map.
17:06It shows the curse of Iran's terror axis.
17:09This axis threatened the peace of the entire world.
17:12It threatened the stability of our region and the very existence of my country Israel.
17:18Iran was rapidly developing a massive nuclear weapons program and a massive ballistic missile program.
17:24These were meant not only to destroy Israel,
17:27they were meant also to threaten the United States and blackmail nations everywhere.
17:32From Gaza,
17:33Yehia Sinwa dispatched waves of Hamas terrorists.
17:37They stormed into Israel on October 7th and committed acts of unspeakable savagery.
17:42From Lebanon,
17:44Hassan Nasrallah had launched thousands of missiles and rockets at our cities,
17:48terrorizing our citizens.
17:50In Syria,
17:51the murderous dictator Assad hosted Iran's forces,
17:55tightening a noose of death around our throats.
17:58In Yemen,
17:59the Houthis launched ballistic missiles at Israel,
18:02while choking global trade at the mouth of the Red Sea.
18:05So what's happened over the past year?
18:08We've hammered the Houthis,
18:09including yesterday.
18:11We crushed the bulk of Hamas's terror machine.
18:14We crippled Hezbollah,
18:15taking out most of its leaders and much of its weapons arsenal.
18:19Remember those beepers,
18:21the pages.
18:22We paged Hezbollah,
18:24and believe me,
18:25they got the message and thousands of terrorists dropped to the ground.
18:29We destroyed Assad's armaments in Syria.
18:32We deterred Iran's Shiite militias in Iraq.
18:35And most importantly,
18:36and above everything else that I could say to you all that we did in this past year,
18:41in this past decade,
18:42we devastated Iran's atomic weapons and ballistic missile programs.
18:46Here's where things stand today.
18:49Half the Houthi leadership are Yemen,
18:51gone.
18:52Yahya Sinwar in Gaza,
18:54gone.
18:55Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon,
18:57gone.
18:58The Assad regime in Syria,
19:00gone.
19:01Those militias in Iraq,
19:02well,
19:03they're still deterred.
19:04And their leaders,
19:06if they attack Israel will also be gone.
19:08And for Iran's top military commanders and its top nuclear scientists,
19:13well,
19:14they're gone too.
19:15Israel's 12-day war with Iran,
19:18which I renamed Operation Rising.
19:21Lion,
19:21that's from the Bible,
19:23this 12-day war will go down in the annals of military history.
19:27Our daring pilots neutralized Iran's missile defenses and took control of the skies over Tehran.
19:34You saw this,
19:35Israeli fighter pilots and American B-2 pilots bombed Iran's nuclear enrichment sites.
19:40I want to thank President Trump for his bold and decisive action.
19:45President Trump and I promised to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
19:51And we delivered on that promise.
19:53We removed an existential threat to Israel,
19:56and a mortal threat to the civilized world.
19:59We lifted a dark cloud that could have claimed millions and millions of lives.
20:03But, ladies and gentlemen,
20:06we must remain vigilant.
20:07We must remain absolutely clear-minded and vigilant.
20:11We must not allow Iran to rebuild its military nuclear capacities.
20:15Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium.
20:18These stockpiles must be eliminated.
20:20And tomorrow,
20:21UN Security Council sanctions on Iran must be snapped back.
20:26Thanks to the resolve of our people,
20:28the courage of our soldiers,
20:30and the bold decisions we took,
20:31Israel rebounded from its darkest day to deliver one of the most stunning military comebacks in history.
20:38But we're not done yet.
20:39The final remnants of Hamas are holed up in Gaza City.
20:43They vow to repeat the atrocities of October 7th again and again and again,
20:48no matter how diminished their forces.
20:50That is why Israel must finish the job,
20:53and that is why we want to do so as fast as possible.
20:56Ladies and gentlemen,
20:58much of the world no longer remembers October 7th.
21:02But we remember,
21:03Israel remembers October 7th.
21:06On that day,
21:07I'll tell you,
21:08you can remember October 7th too.
21:11You see this large pin here,
21:13it's a QR code,
21:14what I ask you to do is hold up your phones,
21:17zoom in,
21:18and you too will see why we fight,
21:20and why we must win.
21:22It's all in here,
21:23on October 7th,
21:25Hamas carried out the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust.
21:29They slaughtered 1,200 innocent people,
21:32including over 40 Americans,
21:34and foreign nationals from dozens of countries represented here.
21:38They beheaded men,
21:40they raped women,
21:41they burned babies,
21:43alive.
21:43They burned babies alive in front of their parents.
21:47What monsters!
21:48These monsters took more than 250 people hostage,
21:52those included Holocaust survivors,
21:54grandmothers,
21:55grandmothers and the grandchildren.
21:58Who takes hostage grandmothers and grandchildren?
22:01Hamas does.
22:02So far,
22:03we've brought home 207 of these hostages.
22:07But 48 still remain in the dungeons of Gaza.
22:1020 of them are alive,
22:12starved,
22:13tortured,
22:14deprived of any daylight,
22:15deprived of humanity.
22:17These are the names of the 20 living hostages.
22:20Matan Angrest,
22:22Gali and Ziv Berman,
22:23brothers,
22:24Elkaner Bobot,
22:26Rom Braslavsky,
22:27Nimrod Cohen,
22:28Ariel and David Cuneo,
22:30another pair of brothers,
22:32Guy Gilboa Delal,
22:33Eviatar David.
22:35You saw the picture of Eviatar David,
22:37emaciated,
22:39forced to dig his own grave,
22:40Maxim Hercan,
22:42Aiton Horn,
22:43Segev Kalfan,
22:44Bar Cooperstein,
22:46Omri Mehran,
22:47Aiton Moore,
22:48Yosef Haim Ohana,
22:50Alon Ohal,
22:51Avin Aitinur and Matan Zangauka.
22:53Now,
22:54ladies and gentlemen,
22:56I want to do something I've never done before.
22:59I want to speak from this forum directly to those hostages through loudspeakers.
23:03I've surrounded Gaza with massive loudspeakers connected to this microphone in the hope that our dear hostages will hear my message.
23:10I will say it first in Hebrew, and then in English.
23:15Hebrew, our brave heroes, this is Prime Minister Netanyahu, speaking to you live from the United Nations.
23:22We have not forgotten you, not even for a second.
23:26The people of Israel are with you.
23:28We will not falter, and we will not rest, until we bring all of you home.
23:34Ladies and gentlemen, thanks to special efforts by Israeli intelligence,
23:38my words are now also being carried, their streamed live to the cell phones of Gazans.
23:44So to the remaining Hamas leaders, and to the jailers of our hostages,
23:49I now say, lay down your arms.
23:52Let my people go.
23:53Free the hostages.
23:55All of them, the whole 48.
23:57Free the hostages now.
23:59If you do, you will live.
24:01If you don't, Israel will hug you down.
24:04Ladies and gentlemen, if Hamas agrees to our demands, the war could end right now.
24:10Gaza would be demilitarized, Israel would retain overriding security control,
24:15and a peaceful civilian authority would be established by Gazans and others committed to peace with Israel.
24:21Of course, you understand that the war in Gaza has affected every Israeli.
24:27But I am sure there are people in New York, London, Melbourne and elsewhere who are probably thinking
24:32what does all of this have to do with me?
24:35The answer is, everything.
24:37Because our enemies are your enemies.
24:40Let's do something else.
24:41Another first at the UN.
24:43Let's do a pop quiz.
24:45Raise your hand if you know the answer.
24:47First question, who shouts, death to America?
24:51Is it A. Iran, B. Hamas, C. Hezbollah, D. The Houthis or E. All of the above?
25:00All of the above.
25:01Correct.
25:02All of the above.
25:03Second question, who has murdered Americans and Europeans in cold blood?
25:08A. Al-Qaeda, B. Hamas, C. Hezbollah, D. Iran or E. All of the above?
25:16Correct again, all of the above.
25:19So here's the point I want to make.
25:21Our enemies hate all of us with equal venom.
25:25They want to drag the modern world back to the past, to a dark age of violence, fanaticism,
25:31and terror.
25:32I think many of you are already feeling in your own societies the radical Islamist surge.
25:38I'm sure you do.
25:39You know deep down that Israel is fighting your fight.
25:42I want to tell you a secret.
25:44Behind closed doors, many of the leaders who publicly condemn us, privately thank us.
25:51They tell me how much they value Israel's superb intelligence services that have prevented time
25:56and again terrorist attacks in their capitals, time and again saving countless lives.
26:01General George Keegan, former head of U.S. Air Force intelligence, once said, if the United
26:08States had to gather on its own the intelligence that Israel gives us, we would have to establish
26:14five CIAs.
26:16Five CIAs.
26:18This past June, when Israel struck Iran's nuclear facilities, German Chancellor Mertz admitted
26:24the truth.
26:24He said, Israel is doing the dirty work for all of us.
26:30President Trump understands better than any other leader that Israel and America face a
26:34common threat.
26:36He showed the world that when Iran and its proxies murder Americans, take Americans hostage,
26:42shout death to America, burn American flags and try to assassinate the President of the
26:47United States, not once, but twice.
26:50He showed them there is a price to pay for all that.
26:53Regrettably, many leaders who are represented in this hall, they send a very different message.
27:00Sure, in the days immediately following October 7th, many of them supported Israel.
27:06But that support quickly evaporated when Israel did what any self-respecting nation would
27:11do in the wake of such a savage attack.
27:13Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday ruled that the
27:27detained Biafra agitation leader, Namdi Kano, has case to answer, because the Nigeria government
27:33prosecution team have provided some evidence that requires explanations from the detained
27:39Biafra leader, this, the coordinating lawyer to Namdi Kano, Barrister Aloieji Makor said
27:45the judgment of the court does not mean Namdi Kano has been pronounced guilty, rather, the
27:51ruling indicated that he should give explanations to certain evidences the federal government of
27:56Nigeria brought before the court.
27:58It would be recalled that the ruling on the known case submission filed by Namdi Kano that
28:03was earlier slated to be held on October 10, 2025, was abridged and rescheduled to Friday,
28:09the 26th of September, 2025.
28:13Justice James Omotosho also rejected request by Kano to be transferred from custody of the
28:18Department of State Services, DSS to the National Hospital Abuja for medical examination over
28:24alleged deteriorating health issues.
28:27The court subsequently ordered the president of Nigerian Medical Association, NMA to constitute
28:33an investigation committee to examine Kano's medical condition and submit a report to it
28:38in eight days following objection by DSS to his request to be transferred to National Hospital
28:44for second opinion on his health condition.
28:47We had earlier in the year reported that the case between the federal government of Nigeria
28:51and the detained leader of the indigenous people of Biafra.
28:55Namdi Kano apparently took a new technical twist after one of the lawyers of the detained
29:00Biafra leader, Paul Arikoro, San, presented and played three videos which the federal high
29:06court sitting in Abuja later admitted in evidence.
29:09The videos of former Nigeria chief of army staff, retired General Theophilus Danjoma, saying,
29:16security operatives in the West Africa country, specifically, the armed forces are working
29:21together with the armed bandits to kill Nigerians, stressing that, if Nigerians depend on the
29:27armed forces to curb insecurity, they will all die one by one.
29:32Also that of Governor Hope Wuzodunma of Imho State, saying, politicians are behind killings
29:38in the state.
29:39Lastly and the most interesting video played at the court to counter the testimony or statement
29:44made by the DSS prosecutor witness over Namdi Kano led IPOB founding Eastern Security Network,
29:51ESN allegedly created by group of youths in the southeastern geopolitical zone of Nigeria
29:57often referred to as Biafra land to fight in self-defense against Fulani armed bandits
30:03or terrorists that were advancing and killing people in the eastern states during the era
30:08of President Mohamedou Buhari, was that of the Director General of the Department of State
30:13Services, DSS, Adeola Ajayi, who is apparently the government chief complainer in the case,
30:19and the DSSDG in the video recorded and published by Symfony News Media in February 2025, narrated
30:27how youths of Azare community in Katagum local government area and Tafawa Balewa community
30:33of Tafawa Balewa local government area in Bauchi State, when the DSSDG was the State Director
30:40of State Security Services, SSS, resorted to self-help and killed all Boko Haram terrorists
30:47that came to attack them without depending on the security operatives, according to the DSSDG,
30:53when Boko Haram terrorists invaded Azare community, they started shooting and killing people,
30:59then, the youths went after the Boko Haram terrorists and killed all of them even when one
31:04of the Boko Haram terrorists named Khalid climbed a tree and started firing gunshots from the tree
31:10towards the people who were on the lower ground. The Azare people resisted and went after him and
31:16subsequently killed him, although the federal government prosecution witness identified as
31:21BBB who is a DSS operative. Stated that the ESN is an illegal organization because there is no
31:28approval of government given to the people of Southeast to establish such a self-help group to defend their
31:34land against terrorists unlike a MOTEC and security network in the Southwest states that
31:38was approved and permitted by the government, also claiming, his boss, the DSSDG in the video was
31:45asking communities to build the first line of defense by thus working with security operatives,
31:51but, a careful and detailed study of the DSSDG speech in the video shows that the FG witness,
31:58BBB probably talked off points, totally off key from the original intent and intention of Mr.
32:04Adeola Ajayi, the DSSDG teachings and advice in the video, who have said the Azare community people
32:10acted in quick response to an emergency situation, and the storyline indicated that the people of
32:16Azare prepared themselves in advance likely purchasing and acquiring firearms equivalent to AK-47
32:23rifles to be able to face and kill all the Boko Haram terrorists that invaded the community as
32:29narrated by the DSSDG, and if true, the DSSDG, the chief complainer must also be ordered to appear
32:36before the court as a defender in the case to present a certified true copy of government approval
32:42given to Azare people to defend themselves, or prove beyond reasonable doubts how the people of
32:48Azare community were able to kill, merely with the bare hands all the Boko Haram terrorists that
32:53invaded their community with high precision weapons of mass destruction. In addition, the DSSDG in the
33:00video probably advocated for the need for all individuals in Nigeria to have a gun, because,
33:07he gave an example of a visit to the United States of America, USA, when his host in the US heard a
33:13police siren sound. He quickly brought out his gun and said, if the criminal chased after by the US
33:20police ran into his apartment, he would use the gun to kill the criminal suspect, and but not all,
33:26the DSSDG in the video also recalled and referenced the words of Nigeria former head of state,
33:32retired General Ibrahim Badamasi Babingida that if insecurity must end in Nigeria,
33:38Nigerians must be ready to resort to self-help like the people of Azare community did.
33:43The ruling is simply, it simply requires Mazen Namdekano, the defendant, to enter his defense.
33:50It's not a pronunciation of guilt or not guilty. So that is why it's called a no-case submission.
33:56So the judgment, the ruling, that there's a primal fact, sheer evidence that needs to be explained.
34:01So in common parlance, it calls on him to come and mount his own defense. But there is the other
34:07aspect of the ruling that concerns extraordinary rendition. That very one is one that, that
34:13compounded us. Because the extraordinary rendition of Mazen Namdekano is so open and notorious.
34:21Two international institutions or two separate partners of the United Nations have made pronouncements
34:27regarding his extraordinary rendition and called for his unconditional release. Nigeria is a member
34:32of the United Nations and they are therefore bound to consider that and implement that decision.
34:38And in Nigeria here, three courts have made similar pronouncements. First was by the Federal High
34:46Court of Appeals, which awarded him 500 million. And the Court of Appeals also pronounced that he was
34:52a victim of extraordinary rendition. And in the Supreme Court, the same Supreme Court has sent this case
34:59back to trial, reached the same conclusion that he was a victim of extraordinary rendition. And all these
35:07things are of the record. They are all in the file. And we remember when this trial was being conducted,
35:15these very documents were attended in evidence. So it compounded us, it confused us that the court now
35:21made a pronouncement that the extraordinary rendition had no evidence before the court, that no evidence of
35:29it was submitted before the court. And you remember, least but not the last, recently a Kenyan High Court
35:35made the same pronouncement. But well, if the court was misled by believing, by mistake, that these
35:43things were not in the evidence, it also said and left the door open that such evidence be submitted.
35:49So we are coming back with that evidence and it's going to be quantum and leisure.
35:53What about the first application on the enemy?
35:56Well, that one too, it wasn't in evidence that the Nigerian Medical Association has intervened.
36:03So it came as a surprise. Well, there's a short date given of eight days for the NAA to submit this report.
36:09So somebody is ill, somebody is ill. You know, I don't think NAA is going to change much of that.
36:14But I think the judge wanted to leave the record open to admit every possible evidence regarding this
36:21matter. And but meantime, we are disappointed. Our client remains ill and remains detained.
36:27And we are not happy about that. His situation requires urgent and urgent care.
36:32So whatever the court says today does not mean that the government shall withdraw back.
36:37Just two days ago, I wrote a letter, a private hospital has also expressed readiness to admit
36:43him here in Abuja. For security reasons, I won't mention the name of the private hospital.
36:47But the government, if the government appears to have issues with taking him to the national
36:53hospital, we have given them an option of a private hospital also here in Abuja.
36:57So it's safe to say that the application to be transferred to the national hospital was rejected?
37:04Rejected? No, it's pending.
37:07Yes. It hasn't been rejected. It's pending. It's pending the admission of risk report from the
37:13Nigerian Medical Association and the opinion of Nigerian Medical Association. And you know, if you were in
37:18court, the judge had ordered that the committee or panel to be considered by the Nigerian Medical
37:24Association shall have a member from the national hospital. So national hospital is still in play.
37:34President of France, Emmanuel Macron and its US counterpart, Donald Trump on Tuesday engaged in a
37:41tough talk over the recognition of Palestine state and the Israeli war in Gaza during the bilateral
37:47meeting. The presidential meeting both held on the sideline of the UN General Assembly in New York,
37:53where the French president insisted that Israel has already achieved more by killing the top
37:58militia leaders of Hamas, saying it doesn't work to dismantle the Hamas. This is not the right way to
38:04proceed. He said, while President Trump had reiterated and insisted that things will not work the way the
38:11French president had suggested that the October 7, 2023 hostages still in the custody of Hamas cannot
38:18be honored with such suggestions. The meeting was held when videos of the French president, Emmanuel Macron
38:25and Turkish president, Recep Erdogan went viral on the internet, where both presidents were stopped or
38:31blocked separately by New York police operatives as they tried to cross streets in the New York City over
38:37yet to be seen incoming motorcade of their counterpart president, Donald Trump. The French president,
38:44Emmanuel Macron called Donald Trump on the phone after his journey to the French embassy was blocked
38:49by police officers preparing for the motorcade of the US president but that of the Turkish president,
38:55Recep Erdogan, could be seen, quickly surrounded by his security team in a manner that makes the
39:01president looked apparently in shock the moment some group of New York police officers advanced towards
39:07them to stop the Turkish presidential team from crossing the road. According to New York Times,
39:13nothing frustrates a New Yorker in a hurry like finding that a street has been blocked off because
39:18some big shot is in town. Apparently, the same is true for the president of France, Emmanuel Macron.
39:26On Monday evening, Mr. Macron, in New York for the UN General Assembly, was stuck on a Manhattan
39:33street corner that had been closed off for President Trump's motorcade. The meeting of world leaders is,
39:39among other things, a traffic nightmare. At first, Mr. Macron did what many New Yorkers might do,
39:46he pleaded with a police officer to let him cross the street.
39:50I have 10 people with me, Mr. Macron told the officer, according to video that shows the French
39:56president making his case on the street corner. I go to the French embassy, but the officer politely
40:03held his ground and would not let Mr. Macron cross the street. I'm sorry, President, I'm really sorry,
40:10he told Mr. Macron. It's just that everything's been frozen right now. There's a motorcade coming right
40:17now. I'm sorry, Mr. Macron, who has engaged in diplomacy to try to end the wars in Ukraine and Gaza,
40:24tried again. I negotiate with you, the French president said on the video. When that didn't
40:31work, Mr. Macron did what average New Yorkers cannot do, he pulled out his phone and called
40:37the President of the United States. How are you, he asked Mr. Trump, cell phone pressed to his ear.
40:44Guess what, I am waiting the street because everything is frozen for you. It was not clear from the video
40:50what Mr. Trump said, but Mr. Macron chuckled and told the American president that he was hoping to
40:56have a discussion with him and Qatari officials about the situation in Gaza. The White House did not
41:02immediately respond to a request for comment on Tuesday. The French president's office confirmed
41:08that while leaving the United Nations on Monday evening, Mr. Macron was caught in a freeze when the
41:15streets were blocked to allow the American president's motorcade to pass. Mr. Macron's office confirmed
41:21that Mr. Macron used the opportunity to call Mr. Trump and said the two had a very warm and amicable
41:27discussion about international issues. Mr. Macron was eventually allowed to cross the street.
41:34Video from Root, a French news outlet, showed him walking past food carts and posing for photos with
41:41people, including a man who planted a kiss on his forehead. The New York Police Department said in
41:47a statement that thousands of offices were on call this week to ensure the safety of New Yorkers and
41:52foreign dignitaries during the UN General Assembly. Mercy to President Macron for recognizing the dedication
41:59and tireless efforts of our offices who safeguard this annual event, the department said. During the bilateral
42:07meeting, President Macron asked President Donald Trump that, since over two years the Israel war
42:13in Gaza began, what has been achieved? The French president said it is not right to proceed with the
42:19aim of dismantling Hamas in the Palestinian city of Gaza, emphasizing that recognizing the Palestinian
42:26state does not mean the Hamas October 7, 2023 attack would be forgotten. According to Macron,
42:33many French people were killed and injured during the attack in Israel. Adding, he visited shortly
42:39after the attack to meet with the affected families. President Donald Trump had said that October 7,
42:452023 is one of the world's most saddest days in Hastroy that cannot be forgotten. Saying, it was a day,
42:54babies being sliced into half, young children's heads were watched being chopped off by the Hamas and it
42:59cannot be forgotten. Adding, he has always said the last hostages will be the toughest ones apparently
43:06to rescue, that, the suggestion of the French president will not honor the hostages.
43:10How are you?
43:12How are you?
43:14Which way?
43:16Which way?
43:18We're trying to go.
43:20We're trying to go.
43:22So could you cross?
43:24Yeah. Thank you.
43:26Anyone need to cross?
43:28Cross this way.
43:39Nice.
43:40Good night.
43:54Good night.
43:55We are too close.
43:58Oh
44:28He was always saying the last hostages are going to be the toughest ones, but you can't
44:44honor them by doing anything like you suggest.
44:48All you can do is say, we want our hostages back, and we want the war to end.
44:53We're going to want it to end.
44:54Nobody forgets the 7th of October.
44:55I went there a few days after, taking families in my hands.
45:03We experienced all together these horrific attacks.
45:07And by the way, we lost a lot of French people in these terrorist attacks.
45:13But after almost two years of war, what is the result?
45:17Once again, they killed the top leaders of Hamas.
45:21It works.
45:22This is a great achievement.
45:23But at the same time, you have as many Hamas fighters as you had the first day.
45:29There is no doubt that this week may be an interesting week in the international community as world leaders gather for the 2025 United Nations General Assembly meeting to discuss and take a stand over decades of conflicts between Israel and the people of Palestine,
45:59Israel and Israel.
46:00Most especially ever since the state of Palestine was officially declared by the Palestine Liberation
46:06Organization, PLO on the 15th of November 1988, claiming sovereignty over the West Bank, which includes East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip.
46:17And as at the end of 1988, over 78 countries approved the declaration including Nigeria that recognized Palestinian state barely three days after the declaration on November 18, 1988.
46:30And the numbers have been increasing particularly since the beginning of 2024 like never before, as at September 21, 2025, over 151 countries out of the 193 United Nations members have recognized the Palestinian state including United Kingdom, UK which its recognition appears to be more disturbing to the Israeli government.
46:55With the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu issuing what he described as a clear message to the world leaders recognizing Palestine as a country of its own that it's not going to happen.
47:07The United Kingdom, Australia, Canada among others declared and announced their recognition of the Palestinian state on September 21, 2025, while countries like Germany, Italy, Japan and South Korea among others are yet to make their position known.
47:24In a video broadcast on Sunday, the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer said,
47:30Today, to revive the hope of peace for the Palestinians and Israelis, and a two-state solution, the United Kingdom formally recognizes the state of Palestine, adding that the recognition is not a reward for Hamas.
47:43Reiterating that the United Kingdom has already prescribed and sanctioned Hamas as a terrorist organization, saying,
47:50Any member of Hamas will not be a member of the Palestinian government including joining the security architectures of the Palestinian state.
47:58A statement by the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu issued a few hours after the video broadcast by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, the Israel Prime Minister said there would never be a Palestinian state to the west of the Jordan River.
48:14For years I have prevented the creation of that terror state, against tremendous pressure, both domestic and from abroad.
48:44We have done this with determination, and with astute statesmanship.
48:49Moreover, we have doubled the Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria, and we will continue on this path.
48:56The response to the latest attempt to force upon us a terrorist state in the heart of our land will be given after my return from the United States.
49:05Stand by.
49:05In the face of the growing horror in the Middle East, we are acting to keep alive the possibility of peace and a two-state solution.
49:17That means a safe and secure Israel alongside a viable Palestinian state.
49:23At the moment, at the moment, we have neither.
49:27Ordinary people, Israeli and Palestinian, deserve to live in peace, to try to rebuild their lives free from violence and suffering.
49:39That's what the British people desperately want to see.
49:45Yet, almost two years after the barbaric attacks of October 7th, hostages are still held by the terrorists of Hamas.
49:57Recent images show the hostages suffering and emaciated.
50:03Hamas even refused to release all the bodies of the dead.
50:07I have met British families of the hostages.
50:12I see the torture that they endure each and every day.
50:17Pain that strikes deep in people's hearts across Israel and here in the United Kingdom.
50:25The hostages must be released immediately.
50:29And we will keep fighting to bring them home.
50:33Let's be frank.
50:35Hamas is a brutal terror organization.
50:37Our call for a genuine two-state solution is the exact opposite of their hateful vision.
50:47So, we are clear.
50:49This solution is not a reward for Hamas because it means Hamas can have no future, no role in government, no role in security.
51:01We have already prescribed and sanctioned Hamas.
51:05And we will go further.
51:06Meanwhile, the man-made humanitarian crisis in Gaza reaches new depths.
51:21The Israeli government's relentless and increasing bombardment of Gaza, the offensive of recent weeks, the starvation and devastation are utterly intolerable.
51:36Tens of thousands have been killed, including thousands as they tried to collect food and water.
51:44This death and destruction horrifies all of us.
51:51It must end.
51:52We have evacuated the first group of sick and injured children to the United Kingdom to be treated by the NHS.
52:01And we continue to increase our humanitarian support.
52:04But still, nowhere near enough aid is getting through.
52:10We call again on the Israeli government to lift the unacceptable restrictions at the border.
52:18Stop these cruel tactics and let the aid surge in.
52:23With the actions of Hamas, the Israeli government escalating the conflict, and settlement building being accelerated in the West Bank, the hope of a two-state solution is fading.
52:41But we cannot let that light go out.
52:44That is why we are building consensus with leaders in the region and beyond, around our framework for peace.
52:54This is a practical plan to bring people together behind a common vision and a series of steps, including the reform of the Palestinian Authority,
53:05that takes us from a ceasefire in Gaza to negotiations on a two-state solution.
53:14We will keep driving this forward.
53:19As part of this effort, I set out in July the terms upon which we would act, in line with our manifesto, to recognize Palestinian statehood.
53:33That moment has now arrived.
53:36So today, to revive the hope of peace and a two-state solution, I state clearly, as Prime Minister of this great country,
53:50that the United Kingdom formally recognizes the state of Palestine.
53:57We recognize the state of Israel more than 75 years ago as a homeland for the Jewish people.
54:07Today, we join over 150 countries who recognize a Palestinian state also.
54:15A pledge to the Palestinian and Israeli people that there can be a better future.
54:26I know the strength of feeling that this conflict provokes.
54:30We have seen it on our streets, in our schools, in conversations we've had with friends and family.
54:38It has created division.
54:42Some have used it to stoke hatred and fear.
54:47But that solves nothing.
54:50Not only must we reject hate, we must redouble our efforts to combat hatred in all its forms.
