00:00A major police blitz across Melbourne has led to the arrest of 53 people and the recovery
00:05of stolen vehicles, weapons and a firearm.
00:09Operation Momentum saturated the Brimbank and Melton areas over four nights, from the
00:141st to the 4th of October, targeting alleged burglars, car thieves and dangerous drivers.
00:21Police seized six stolen vehicles as a total of 115 charges were laid for burglary, car
00:27theft and dangerous driving.
00:30Officers also arrested two men from Melton and Werribee over a separate burglary involving
00:34stolen firearms and samurai swords.
00:38The operation comes as Victoria faces its worst crime surge in the state's history, with
00:43over 5,400 individuals arrested 10 times or more so far this year.
