00:00Teen accounts are an automatic set of protections
00:02that try and give parents some peace of mind
00:05and make sure that Instagram is an appropriate experience for their teens.
00:09They focus primarily on three things.
00:11What kind of content a teen can see,
00:14whether or not or who can reach out to that teen,
00:17so that unwanted contact is a concern we want to make sure we address,
00:20and then overall time.
00:21How much time a teen can spend on Instagram.
00:24These are the top concerns we hear from parents,
00:25and we wanted to make sure that teen accounts try to proactively address all three.
00:29The most important setting is the privacy setting, I think, for your account.
00:33So is your account public or private?
00:35Teen accounts are private by default.
00:37If someone under 16 wants to go to public,
00:40they need to actually get their parents' permission,
00:42and so you're going to have to set up parental supervision.
00:45But at the end of the day, that's probably the most important setting
00:49that really creates the border of the risk
00:53that your teen might have from being online or on a platform like Instagram.
