The Claw Club: Inside the new Seafood Boil hotspot as trendy restaurant opens in Yorkshire

Our reporter went to try out the latest seafood boil joint to pop up in Wakefield - the first of its kind in the district.

00:00So have you heard of Seafood Broils? I'm here in Wakefield. There's a new restaurant. It's a bit

00:05secret. It's hidden on the top of Iris Restaurant in the Bullring and I'm gonna try it out. It's

00:11called The Claw Club. It's only been open three months. The Claw Club above the Iris Restaurant

00:18in Wakefield's Bullring and wow what a treat. Seafood boils and even vegetarian boils if you

00:26order in advance. Anyway we've ordered seafood boil. I've even ordered a vegetarian seafood boil.

00:32They do a Beyond Meat like plant-based burger. I'm really surprised they've got veggie options. So

00:37let's see how it is. The service here is incredible. It felt like we were at one of the upmarket diners

00:44in the USA. These crawfish croquettes were only £8 for starters. They are almost as big as a scotch

00:53egg each and wow. Then it was time for the obligatory cheese pull and boy was it a cheese

01:00pull and a half with the mozzarella sticks. And next up to get messy it was time for the seafood boils.

01:09Luckily I'd already watched on and seen other people's techniques. A lot of people had gone for

01:15the neighbourhood options which does look even more eye-catching with lobsters, crabs falling out of

01:22the bag. All in your chosen broth or as they call it butter. And here it was. This is my vegetarian boil.

01:31So I've got corn on the cob, new potatoes and some vegan shrimp. Athena had the same but a mini version

01:40from the kids menu for just £6.99. Mine was £22. The same price as what my in-laws had. The shrimp and mussels.

01:49Definitely make sure you use the bibs and gloves they give you because they are for a reason because

01:55it's very fun, very messy and extremely tasty. So my in-laws went for the Cajun spice butter whereas

02:04I went for the super spicy one and then also Athena went for the garlic. Wow what an experience.

02:13definitely the perfect place for couples who know each other well and also dinner parties to add a bit
