00:01Previously on The Rookie.
00:02Hey, counselor. Harrison Novak.
00:04They're all wrapped the same. They must be yours.
00:06These aren't mine.
00:07Thanks for coming right over.
00:08Yeah, of course.
00:09It seems clear that we have a second serial killer at large.
00:14And you are?
00:15Her husband.
00:16Oscar and Jason just escaped from prison.
00:18Who's out there?
00:19Show me your hands.
00:20Oh, my God. Don't shoot me.
00:22I got a call from Detroit PD.
00:24They pulled Prince from a liquor store robbery last night.
00:26Jason Wireless.
00:27Who are you?
00:28I'm the man hunting your wife's husband.
00:31Malvado.
00:32If you hear of Jason's whereabouts, let me know.
00:41What's that?
00:42A secret note from my secret lover.
00:44Where do you find the energy? You barely have the strength for one lover.
00:47I know. I've been meaning to talk to you about putting some more effort in.
00:50That's fair. You working today?
00:52Yep, and I see you're going in early.
00:54Yeah, I'm gonna talk to that detective in Detroit,
00:56see if they have any updates on Jason.
00:58Do you really believe my psychotic ex-husband is on the run?
01:02Well, it seems like it.
01:03You can't be too careful.
01:05I'm just happy to get some normalcy back in our lives.
01:08Where normalcy means, you know, double serial killers.
01:11Well, on the bright side, at least one of them's already in custody.
01:14Always the optimist.
01:15It's my secret lover's favorite thing about me.
01:17Oh, see, that's what separates us.
01:19I could never pick only one favorite thing.
01:24Have a great day.
01:25You too.
01:49Oh, Mrs. Richards?
02:04That's right.
02:05Hi, I'm Lucy Chen.
02:06I was hoping to talk to you about your former student, Seth Ridley.
02:09I'm his training officer at the LAPD.
02:11Is he in trouble?
02:12No, not at all.
02:13I was just looking to get some clarity on some things,
02:15and I thought the school guidance counselor would be the best person to ask.
02:19All right, then.
02:20I don't know.
02:21Better come in.
02:23What about you?
02:25I'm sorry, what?
02:27She asked if you were feeling any more secure in a job.
02:30Oh, totally.
02:31Totally.
02:32I...
02:33No, it's totally not.
02:34Would you actually be able to put in a good word for me with your roommate?
02:39That would...
02:40That would owe you.
02:41Big time.
02:42Hey.
02:43Huh?
02:44You think we'll be in a shift by eight tonight?
02:47Uh, I...
02:48I mean, there's a serial killer on the loose.
02:50I wouldn't expect a clock out on time.
02:52There's gotta be some kind of work-life balance eventually, though, right?
02:55Not as a rookie.
02:56I haven't been on a date in three months.
02:58Why?
02:59What's at 8 p.m.?
03:00She got long-distance love with the missus.
03:02Oh.
03:03We ain't married.
03:04All right?
03:05Just exclusive since high school.
03:06Camilla's still in Texas looking for the right time to move.
03:08And live in your car.
03:10I'll find a place before then.
03:12She's my angel.
03:13Got with me when I was gonna make football money and stayed with me when I got hurt and
03:17lost it all.
03:18She sacrificed a hell of a lot for me.
03:20Oh.
03:21You must miss her so much.
03:22Yeah.
03:23Yeah, I-I-I do.
03:25All right.
03:27Daddy.
03:28I'm gonna lose.
03:29Uh-huh.
03:43I can just try and win.
03:44Bad news.
03:50Remy Dardens had come to his injuries this morning.
03:52So, you're the only living witness.
03:54Which means we have jack squat.
03:56Because the only description I can give of our serial killer is white male.
04:00Unknown age, somewhere near six feet, and somewhere around 175 pounds.
04:05But it's better than nothing.
04:07Not by much.
04:09Hey.
04:10Brought you some fresh clothes in case you want to change after,
04:12and the appropriate shoes to match.
04:14Always so thoughtful.
04:16Well trained.
04:20Are you okay?
04:23My heart hurts.
04:24So much pain before they died.
04:27I know in my mind such evil exists, but it always shocks my soul to see it.
04:31Good morning.
04:33Oh, morning.
04:35How you feeling?
04:36Fine. Day off helped.
04:38I wish I could say I found something helpful in your absence, but I did not.
04:42No DNA?
04:43The opposite.
04:43Too much.
04:44I found trace evidence of literally hundreds of people contaminating both the murder lab
04:48and the bodies of our serial killer's ten victims.
04:51How is that possible?
04:52Oh, he muddied the scene with a DNA buffet.
04:55He literally collected medical waste.
04:56Sharps, latex gloves, discarded bandages, and he used them to corrupt everything that he touched.
05:02That's kind of brilliant.
05:04In a pure evil way.
05:05I mean, even if we can pull his DNA from a victim and match it, any defense attorney with
05:09a pulse will be able to prove reasonable doubt.
05:11I'm afraid I have more troubling news.
05:14The autopsies reveal that all but one of the victims were infected with a variety of bloodborne
05:18illnesses before he strangled them to death.
05:20From the used syringes?
05:22Yeah.
05:22He was literally using them like a science experiment.
05:25But before you panic, we found the needle he used on you and tested it.
05:29I wouldn't say it was clean, but there was nothing communicable within.
05:32We'll get you regular testing for the next six months, but if they didn't find anything
05:36in the needle, you should be okay.
05:38Okay.
05:39But on the good news front, most of the medical waste was generic, found in every hospital
05:44and doctor's office around the state, except for these four syringes, which are trial design,
05:48only used at St. Stephen Hospital.
05:50You could have led with that.
05:51He's an actor.
05:52He likes the drama.
05:53Former actor, and I like setting realistic expectations.
05:56All right, so just to be clear, we're looking for a white male of indeterminate age,
05:59height, weight, with some form of connection to Westview Psychiatric Institution and St. Stephen
06:05Hospital, places that employ and treat thousands of people a year.
06:09Talk about setting expectations.
06:12And here I was feeling hopeful.
06:13Sorry.
06:14You know, I've been really studying my rookbook.
06:27I'm going to burn the midnight oil.
06:29Miles and I are going to go to the range later on, do some extra shooting.
06:34I visited your high school this morning, Ridley.
06:38Oh, that's cool.
06:39Why?
06:40Because I wanted some clarity about your high school experience.
06:46And?
06:50Why don't you tell me, Ridley, what exactly did I discover?
06:54You found out that I was telling the truth about my friend who OD'd.
06:59And that she was not my girlfriend.
07:02I did go on a date with her a couple months before Rory Hatcher's party.
07:05I did give her CPR, but Rory Hatcher's dad actually saved her.
07:15And?
07:18And you discovered that I lied to you and Miles about the girl who died in a car accident.
07:24And she was not my girlfriend either.
07:26I was actually a freshman when she was a senior, and I've never met the girl.
07:36Do you want to know why I lied?
07:37I can figure that out for myself.
07:39Well, what if I told you that I was ashamed of what I did?
07:42And that I have struggled in the past using these half-truths to get me out of trouble.
07:47I just, I've sworn to myself that I wasn't going to be this guy anymore when I joined the LAPD.
07:52But then I threw up in a crime scene on day one.
07:57And I panicked, and I should have owned up to my failures.
08:00But I just, I should have suffered the consequences.
08:04What are the consequences?
08:13I don't, I don't know yet.
08:14We have an on-site incinerator in the basement.
08:17It's where all of our medical waste is disposed.
08:19Who has access to it?
08:20Pistodial staff, plus we have a dedicated incineration team.
08:24Everyone's passed background checks, but a few months ago, our security staff found a patient,
08:29Ryan Dearborn, wandering around the basement with a medical bag.
08:33At the time, he claimed he was lost.
08:35Couldn't explain the bag.
08:36Back in Texas, we call that clue sweeter than stolen honey.
08:40I like him.
08:41No comment.
08:42Are you seeing anyone?
08:44Because I have a niece who has had it up to here with L.A. guys.
08:47If she's anywhere near as lovely as you, I'm sure she'll have her pick-a-man.
08:51Unfortunately, I am taking.
08:53It's long distance.
08:54He'll be single soon enough.
08:55Who do you have against long distance relationships?
08:57They aren't relationships.
08:59The day-to-day support, the way you weave your lives together, that's a relationship.
09:02Chatting on Zoom is a friendship at best.
09:04Thank you for the intel.
09:06He and Rachel broke up when she moved to New York.
09:09Ah, I see.
09:11Don't listen to him.
09:12Relationships come in all forms.
09:14Let's go, boo.
09:15Nice to meet you.
09:16Ryan Dearborn has been a repeat patient at Westview Psychiatrics since he was a teenager.
09:26His most recent stint was 16 months ago.
09:29Schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, drug addiction.
09:33Has he ever crossed paths with Harrison Novak?
09:35He did.
09:36At least he could have.
09:37There is a two-month overlap during their teenage years.
09:41Okay.
09:42So, what do you think?
09:44Oh.
09:45I think it looks like a cautionary tale for how society fails those with mental health issues.
09:51I mean, what do you think about how we should approach?
09:54Oh, right.
09:55Well, uh, we don't have probable cause to enter, so first step is to try to get the suspect into the open.
10:05We could simply knock on the door, but due to his history of violence, it might be better to avoid surprises.
10:11Good.
10:11So?
10:12We call him.
10:13Perfect.
10:14Do it.
10:14Hi.
10:28Mr. Dearborn?
10:29This is Officer Selena Juarez with LAPD.
10:33We're outside.
10:34We're hoping we could speak with you.
10:35If you wouldn't mind...
10:36Ah!
10:39Okay, well, that was disturbing.
10:41Seven item 15, requesting additional units and an RA to my location.
10:46Go cover the rear.
11:11In position, no sign of suspect.
11:19Copy that.
11:21I'm at the front door and make an entry.
11:25Police!
11:26Mr. Dearborn?
11:28I'm coming inside.
11:31Stand where I can see you with your hands open and visible.
11:34Sir?
11:43I'm gonna need you to step out.
11:44Do it now.
11:45Do it now.
12:00Insights clear.
12:02Copy that.
12:02I mean, maybe he wasn't in there when we called.
12:05Negative.
12:06This soup is still steaming.
12:08Must have jumped into the woods the second we pulled up.
12:21You know what?
12:22I'm hearing a voice from underneath the mobile home.
12:25Here we go.
12:27I've got a hatch in the floor.
12:39I'm gonna open it now.
12:53Hey, do you have a second?
12:54Sure.
12:56Uh-oh.
12:58Yeah.
12:59Um, okay, so I have confirmed that Seth lied to me on two separate occasions about past tragedies.
13:04Not great.
13:06That's it?
13:07Not great?
13:08I'm...
13:08I mean, a third of the department routinely lies about their personal life.
13:11Do you honestly think Smitty qualified for the Olympics?
13:14No, but...
13:15Okay, there's a difference between lying on the job and lying about the job.
13:19Has he ever lied about a call or on paperwork?
13:21Not that I know of.
13:23Okay.
13:24Look, the city spent a quarter million training Ridley.
13:26The department's currently understaffed due to a major corruption scandal,
13:29and he was recently lauded as a hero for saving a hostage's life.
13:32Gray's not gonna cut him just because he brags.
13:34Wait, I can't believe Tim I bounce boots for breakfast Bradford is suggesting letting unethical behavior slide.
13:41I'm not.
13:42I'm suggesting you correct it.
13:44It's what we call a T.O. problem.
13:46Wow.
13:46Wow.
13:47Okay.
13:48Mm-hmm.
13:49Hi.
13:51Hey.
13:52Hi.
13:53Listen.
13:55I really love this job.
13:56I have never lied about that.
13:58I just...
13:59I get panicked sometimes and I get stressed.
14:01Ridley, being a cop is stressful.
14:0424-7.
14:04Being cross-examined is just as stressful.
14:07What are you gonna do when you're on the stand?
14:09Tell the truth or say whatever makes you look good?
14:11The truth.
14:12I'm gonna tell the truth, okay?
14:13It's 100%.
14:14This has been an important wake-up call for me.
14:19I promise you I'm gonna fly right from here on out.
14:23He said the needles were for his medicine and that just a quick rinse and they were, quote, good as new.
14:30That might be the most disgusting thing I've ever heard.
14:33What do you think?
14:35Is this the guy you fought in the basement?
14:38I don't know.
14:38He feels wrong.
14:39I mean, this guy's literally buzzing with energy.
14:43The killer we're after was calm, fastidious, careful, and dangerously smart.
14:49I can't imagine this guy making a peanut butter sandwich without cutting off something important.
14:53Maybe that's what he wants us to think.
14:54Laying the groundwork for an insanity plea.
14:56If so, he deserves an Oscar.
14:58So, do you want to talk to him or lay back?
15:01Lay back.
15:03Okay.
15:03Mr. Dearborn, hi.
15:08I'm Brendan Akers with the FBI.
15:11This is Detective Lopez.
15:12I take it you've been apprised of your rights.
15:14Is that correct?
15:15I didn't do anything.
15:16I never do anything.
15:18Can you tell us where you were two nights ago?
15:20Down below.
15:24The underneath.
15:25Are you talking about a basement?
15:29It's my happy place.
15:31I don't want to go to my happy place.
15:33Nice to be home.
15:46So nice.
15:47Especially now that the threat of my crazy ex-husband is gone.
15:51At least for the moment.
15:53You'll get through this.
15:54We're all here for you.
15:54Whatever you guys need.
15:59Uh.
16:00Sorry, I have to get this?
16:01Of course.
16:02Talk to you later.
16:02Yeah.
16:10Hello?
16:11Tell me about Detroit.
16:12I shouldn't be talking to you.
16:13Then why did you text or answer this call?
16:16Tell me about Detroit.
16:19Jason's fingerprints were pulled from a liquor store he robbed.
16:22Same thing outside Provo, Utah two days before.
16:25Seems a little sloppy for our boy.
16:26You think it's a fake out?
16:28I don't know.
16:28Maybe not.
16:29People do have a tendency to run for the hills when they hear that I'm looking for them.
16:32I have my feelers out.
16:33I'll know more soon enough.
16:36I might have something.
16:37So I was going through Antoinette's initial autopsy reports.
16:40All of the victims were cross-contaminated with dirty needles before they were killed.
16:43Except one.
16:44His very first victim, Grant McGallis.
16:48First kills are often unique.
16:49The thrill of raw violence before a serial killer hones their style.
16:53Right.
16:53And they can also be the most personal.
16:55So I went back into Grant's missing person file.
16:57One of the people the detectives interviewed was his former employer, Liam Glasser.
17:01Now Glasser was never a suspect, but he runs a vending machine supply company that services facilities all across Los Angeles, including Westview Psychiatric.
17:09Any connection to St. Stephen?
17:13Not that I could find.
17:14You should definitely put eyes on Glasser.
17:16See if you recognize him from the other night.
17:18Yeah, but I don't want him to know that he might be a suspect.
17:20Yeah.
17:21I have an idea.
17:23Glad you could come on such short notice.
17:26Are you kidding me?
17:27Get my firstborn to service all the LAPD machines.
17:30You really got that kind of pull with the city?
17:32Oh, yeah.
17:33I'm the man.
17:35These all look like pretty standard fare.
17:37I was hoping for more of the, uh, exotics.
17:41Well, this is just a small sampling of what we carry.
17:44Is there, uh, something specific you had in mind?
17:46There's a New Zealand nut bar that I could only find at the zoo.
17:50The Kiwi Crispy.
17:52I have that.
17:53No way.
17:54Oh, yeah.
17:54It's not on the chart, but I could land it in slot, uh, 22 first thing in the morning if that seals the deal.
17:59Smitty Gray's looking for you.
18:00Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt.
18:04It's never an interruption when a woman is as pretty as you.
18:07Oh, wow.
18:08Smooth talker.
18:09Guilty as charged.
18:11But don't let me stop important police business from happening.
18:14I got work to do, too.
18:16I'm going to go talk to Gray, and I will circle back.
18:18It's nice meeting you.
18:19You, too.
18:25Actually, you might be able to help me out with something.
18:29I'm happy to.
18:31Unless this is just a ploy to hit on me, because I am a happily married man.
18:36Who tells random women they're pretty?
18:39Oh, a man can look.
18:40Oh.
18:41So what can I do for you, uh...
18:43Uh, Nyla Harper, detective.
18:45It's nice to meet you, Nyla Harper, detective.
18:47I'm Liam Glasser, uh, Lord of the Vending Machines.
18:52Uh, that is actually what I wanted to talk to you about.
18:54Um, okay, so I have this case.
18:57It is a serial murder investigation, and there are connections to Westview Psychiatric.
19:02Get out of here.
19:04I, I, I service Westview.
19:05You're kidding.
19:06No.
19:07Well, that's a small world.
19:09For how long?
19:10Uh, I mean, like, forever.
19:11Uh, it's my dad's company.
19:13I started working with him in high school.
19:15I took it over when he passed.
19:16So, more than 20 years.
19:18How often are you there?
19:20I average, uh, three or four visits a month.
19:23I mean, the food is terrible there.
19:25So, the patients and the staff, they basically live off the machines.
19:29Okay, I, I hate to impose, but there are elements of this case that date back to over a decade ago.
19:36And talking to someone with institutional knowledge would be extremely helpful.
19:41I, the staff has been stonewalling me, trying to cover their ass.
19:45You know how that is.
19:45Oh, yeah.
19:45It's, uh, human nature.
19:47Exactly.
19:48Um, can you help me?
19:51Well, um, as much as I would love to spend the day talking to you,
19:55I got a schedule to keep.
19:57Please, I promise it won't take that long.
20:02I'd owe you.
20:03Hmm.
20:05Sure.
20:06I can, I can spare a few minutes.
20:08Great.
20:08I will go grab my file and my notebook.
20:19I think Glasser is my guy.
20:21He's the second killer.
20:23Well, that's a surprise.
20:24Because Ryan Dearborn is currently confessing.
20:28What?
20:29I couldn't stop.
20:30I, I needed them to hurt the way I hurt.
20:32The way I hurt.
20:34So I jabbed them.
20:36I jabbed them and I killed them.
20:42Who was the third victim?
20:43The third kill.
20:50My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, Michael, Michael, Skid Row.
20:56He, he helped me find that place right between the toes.
21:00The most painful bone.
21:02Lots of nerves.
21:03But anywhere you poke, poke, poke, poke too often, they get used to it.
21:08And I always had a lot of needles to poke.
21:11I stole them from the hospital.
21:13But this morning you told Officer Nolan that you use those needles in your house for medicine.
21:18Yes.
21:19For me.
21:21And for them.
21:22Tell us about Remy.
21:24Got away.
21:27Bye-bye.
21:29How did he get away?
21:33What happened the other night when he got away?
21:36Nothing.
21:37Everything.
21:41Danger.
21:43Please.
21:44I just wanted to stop.
21:46I need someone to stop me.
21:48Please.
21:50I need to be punished.
21:52I've done such bad things.
21:55Such bad things.
22:02So, did you get anything wrong?
22:04Missing detail?
22:05No, it was a slam dunk confession.
22:06From a guy who was clearly in the throes of mental illness.
22:10I mean, sure, he gave us details, but he also left a lot of holes.
22:13Those are details only the killer could know.
22:15Or someone helping him.
22:16Listen, I know that my gut is not admissible, but I am telling you, Glasser is the guy from the basement.
22:21He recognized me in the break room.
22:23He couldn't stop staring at my wounds.
22:25He's still in there with Smitty, waiting to talk to me.
22:29At least just put eyes on him.
22:32Check my math.
22:36Of course.
22:36The last thing I want to do is charge the wrong guy, or leave an accomplice out there.
22:41Let's go.
22:46I swear she'll be right back.
22:47I'm sorry.
22:48I got a route to run.
22:49I can't wait any longer.
22:50I am so sorry.
22:51Thank you for waiting.
22:53I really gotta go.
22:54Just talk to me for two minutes.
22:56That's it.
22:56I promise.
22:57Your stuff will be safe here.
23:14So, um, do you have any interactions with the patients at Westview?
23:20Uh, I don't really stop the chat.
23:22I mean, not that there's anything wrong with being mentally ill.
23:26I can't help it.
23:26But, uh, I'm not really looking to socialize.
23:30So is that a no?
23:30Yes, that is a no.
23:35So you have never talked to someone named Ryan Dearborn?
23:40Uh, like I said, I do my business and I get out.
23:44Okay.
23:45Is that the serial killer you mentioned, Dearborn?
23:48I can't really comment on that.
23:50Sure.
23:51Yeah.
23:52Sure.
23:54You can almost feel him trying to be casual.
23:57If he is the guy, he's rocking a world-class ego.
24:01It'll make him overconfident.
24:06Well, if there's nothing else, I really gotta go.
24:10Where were you on Tuesday night?
24:13Why?
24:16I'm sorry.
24:17I meant to ask, um, were you at Westview two nights ago?
24:21Something happened.
24:23Well, I don't work nights.
24:24I have a family.
24:25Oh, kids?
24:26Yeah, two.
24:28What about you?
24:35What happened at Westview?
24:38There was an attack.
24:41Our suspect almost killed a cop.
24:43No kidding.
24:45Wow.
24:47Well, like I said, I wasn't there.
24:49Where were you?
24:52Movies, maybe?
24:54I'd have to check.
24:56Now I really gotta go.
24:59Good luck with your case.
25:01Of course.
25:02Uh, we will be in touch if any follow-up is necessary.
25:04Looking forward to it.
25:06Okay.
25:12I hope you catch the guy.
25:14I mean, you must feel such a weight, being the only person who can bring his poor victim's closure.
25:24Does it keep you up at night?
25:25It would keep me up at night.
25:30I sleep just fine.
25:33Do you?
25:34Like a baby.
25:39Like a baby.
25:42Okay.
25:42oh good job so how's my math solid he's definitely giving off some creepy vibes seem very interested
25:58in the case i agree ryan's involved somehow but glasser's the dominant personality but will a jury
26:04see it that way no no they'll see ryan stealing the syringes and ryan confessing to serial murder
26:10glasser's just a hard-working family man who's barely tied to the case ryan's guilt feels genuine
26:14i think he honestly believes he committed the murders what if glasser convinced him you know
26:19spent years feeding him details until he internalized them well we know glasser thinks long
26:24term from the cross-contamination of the kills he's been doing someone as disturbed as ryan can
26:28easily be manipulated if that is true then glasser's created the perfect patsy so what do we do good
26:34news is he knows we're close he won't risk another abduction anytime soon yeah but we need to be
26:40ready when he does i need every detail about his work life his clients root there has to be some
26:45connection between him and the other victims and let's pull apart his family i need a deep dive on
26:51his wife kids third cousins everyone oh i'm so sorry to interrupt nolan the property's on the phone

28:24Hey, babe.
28:25Oh, you don't look so good back there.
28:28Oh, damn it.
28:30Oh, I forgot to dump your phone.
28:31She's moving south of La Cienega.

28:50Pull over and let me the hell out.
28:52Shut up.
28:54Nobody's asking you.
28:55I am way past taking orders from you, Jason.
28:58You don't scare me anymore.
29:01I said shut up.
29:02Give me this.
29:03Do you have her?
29:22Yeah.
29:23One minute out.
29:24Get ready.
29:24I'm so ready, baby.
29:26Get here.
29:26Another life you're ruining.
29:28You're the one that ruined the life.
29:30Line.
29:31Oh, boo-hoo.
29:33Jason, you're not the hero of the story.
29:35You're not even the villain.
29:36You're sideshow, Bob.
29:38Stepping on an infinite number of rakes.
29:43I really not provoke me right now.
29:46Why?
29:47You gonna make it hurt, Mort?
29:48Such a big man torturing a woman a third of your size.
29:52Shut up!
29:53Oh, no!
30:22Oh, my God.
30:26They stopped.
30:27Two blocks up around the corner.
30:36Oh, my God.
30:37Baby, are you okay?
30:39Do I look okay?
30:40Don't yell at me.
30:41I'm breaking out of here.
30:42Oh, come on.
30:43We got to go.
30:43Is she dead?
30:44I don't know.
30:45You got to make sure.
30:46Otherwise, you'll never rest easy,
30:47and you'll never be all mine.
30:50Oh, God.
30:51She broke my arm.
30:54Come on.
30:54We don't have time.
30:55We got to move.
30:56We won't make it to your car.
30:58Come on.
30:58We got to go.
30:59Where are you going?
31:00Come on.
31:15There she is.
31:19I'm here.
31:20I'm here.
31:23How bad are you hurt?
31:24I don't know.
31:26But he's hurt worse.
31:29He just ran off down the alley with a woman.
31:33Blonde, pink sweatshirt.
31:35Control suspect Jason Weiler is on foot,
31:37heading west towards the 101.
31:38He is armed and dangerous.
31:39Second suspect, blonde, female, pink sweatshirt.
31:42Mobilize backup airship and a supervisor
31:44to set up a search grid.
31:45You're going to be all right.
32:10Ambulance is on the way.
32:11How did you notify me?
32:14Detroit PD called.
32:15Jason paid someone to plant his fingerprints.
32:17I know.
32:19I mean, I knew what we shouldn't have trusted him.
32:22Oh, Jason's phone.
32:24He left that before he ran off.
32:26Over here.
32:27Quick.
32:28Easy.
32:29Nice and easy.
32:29Okay.
32:30Nice and easy.
32:30Multiple contusions, possible concussion,
32:33slight whiplash,
32:34and some injury to my ribs.
32:37It's either fractured or sprained.
32:38I'm not sure.
32:39How's Bailey?
32:40Bailey is pissed.
32:41I'm going to go to the hospital with her.
32:43Of course.
32:43This is Jason's phone.
32:45He called the woman he ran off with
32:47right before we crashed.
32:49Hey, I need a name and trace
32:51on this phone number right now.
32:52I have all the units in the area
32:54locked down the grid.
32:56We're not going to let Jason get away again.
32:57All right, it's registered to Drew Davis,
33:0028 female, lives in La Cañada.
33:06I know her.
33:07No, she pretended she was drunk.
33:09She broke into the yard.
33:10She said she was looking for a friend's house.
33:11She must have been trying to test out
33:12your security system for Jason.
33:14That's his move.
33:14He makes some poor young woman
33:15think he's in love with her
33:16and then ruin her life.
33:17Trace came in.
33:18It's a few blocks from here.
33:19Headed west on 6th.
33:21Control, suspects heading west
33:23on 6th Street toward Anderson.
33:25Code 3.
33:26Go.
33:27You sure?
33:28Go.
33:28Catch him.
33:47What are we going to do?
33:48We got to get a car.
33:50Can't we just hide?
33:51No, no, no.
33:51We're going to have this whole place locked down.
33:55Oh, no.
33:55You're fine.
33:57What?
33:58They're attacking us.
34:00Well, they know who I am.
34:00Why would they know who I am?
34:01You said that I was fine.
34:02It doesn't matter.
34:03Come on.
34:05Okay, look, hey.
34:06You've got to go stop that car.
34:07I'm going to come out with a gun
34:08and we're going to jack it.
34:09Go.
34:10Go!
34:12We're here.
34:13Her phone's at the end of the block.
34:33Oh, no way.
34:35I see her.
34:407 out of 15.
34:41We have eyes on one suspect.
34:42Gunshot.
34:43Possibly deceased.
34:44No sign of Jason yet.
34:46Did Jason shoot her?
34:47I don't know.
34:48Let's move.
34:49I've got eyes on Jason's south side of the street.
35:07I've got eyes on Jason's south side of the street.
35:17Jason, show me your hands.
35:19I give up.
35:25Step out.
35:27I can't.
35:28My motto is all over me.
35:30You killed Drew.
35:31You've got to protect me.
35:32Step out and show me your hands.
35:37Damn it, he's got a rifle.
35:467 out of 15.
35:47Shots fired.
35:47Suspect is down.
35:48And we have a sniper.
35:49600 block of Anderson.
35:51Precise location unknown.
36:13Nyla Harbor, detective.
36:15Oh, I told you I'm a happily married man.
36:19Yes, you did.
36:20That was a lie.
36:22Just like everything else you have told me was a lie.
36:25See, I know you used to be the smartest guy in the room,
36:27and honestly, you have mostly been right.
36:29You have played this thing perfectly so far.
36:33Well, I have no idea what you're talking about.
36:36Oh, you don't have to pretend.
36:38I'm not wearing a wire.
36:38I'm not here to trick you into confessing or threaten you that Ryan Dearborn has flipped on you.
36:46Like I said, you're smarter than that.
36:49But I also know that you can't help what you are.
36:54You'll be disciplined for a while, but then you won't be able to stop yourself.
36:59And you will take another victim.
37:03And we will be there.
37:06We?
37:06My friends, on patrol, who will make driving by your home and work part of every shift.
37:14And my other friends, my undercover friends, who will always be out there.
37:21Only you won't know who, and you won't know when.
37:23See, you've gotten away with everything because you moved in the shadows.
37:27But now, you are in the spotlight.
37:30And you will stay there until I find a way to hang these murders around your neck
37:35and lock you away forever.
37:53I'm back.
38:00I believe I only asked for a drink.
38:03Yes, I have that right here.
38:06Don't open it right away.
38:07I dropped it.
38:08Mm-hmm.
38:08And in the rest of all this?
38:10Oh, this isn't for me.
38:11No, I definitely did not impulse buy half the gift shop.
38:15Ah, must have been my secret lover.
38:17Yeah, and if you ask me, that guy is really needy.
38:19Or maybe he's just worried because I'm completely in love with you.
38:25To be honest, I've never been more scared in my life.
38:29Me too.
38:33Jason has been a part of my life for so long.
38:37Even when he was in prison, there was always this part of me that was worried.
38:43What he was planning, when would he strike, and now...
38:48And now, you don't have to worry anymore.
38:54Now, is there anything else you want?
38:58I just want to go home.
39:00I will go see if I can help Luna with that paperwork.
39:04Hang tight.
39:04Okay.
39:04Hey, I guess you missed your 8 o'clock Zoom date.
39:17Yeah.
39:18It's all right.
39:19Camilla gets it.
39:20When is she moving out?
39:21I don't know.
39:22It's kind of hard to picture it here, you know?
39:25The life we were planning together was very Texas.
39:28Mm.
39:285,000 square foot house where half of what I pay for rent?
39:31Exactly.
39:32Marriage, three kids, the whole thing.
39:34And now?
39:36I don't know.
39:37I've changed a lot since I've been here, you know?
39:41The speaker, the devil.
39:43Hey, I'm going to take this here so I don't lose her in the elevator.
39:45Oh, yeah, no worries.
39:46I'll see you tomorrow.
39:47Yes, I'll see you tomorrow.
39:50Hey, beautiful.
39:51You're up late.
39:52Yeah, I know.
39:53But it's the only flight that I can get.
39:56Flight?
39:57Wait, where are you?
39:58Surprise!
40:02Hey, what are you doing?
40:03Oh, baby, I couldn't wait.
40:04I quit my job.
40:05I'm moving to Los Angeles.
40:06Come here.
40:10So I've been thinking about the Seth situation.
40:12It's been a long day.
40:14I know this is my problem.
40:15I'm the T.O., so I made a decision.
40:18He can't stay.
40:19The stakes are way too high,
40:20and the only way to fix this is to cut him from the program.
40:23Okay.
40:24Let's talk to Gray.
40:25Wait, you're not going to talk me out of it?
40:30No.
40:31It's your call.
40:34Just know this whole station is going to be behind you every step of the way.
40:37Thank you, sir.
40:38What's going on?
40:40It's your news to share.
40:42I finally got my lab results, and my cancer is back.
40:47But we caught it early, and the doctor says that I should still be able to work.
40:51And I just, I just, I wanted to let you know that I am ready, I am willing, and able to complete my training,
40:58if you will still have me.
40:59Yeah, of course.
41:07I am going to sleep for a week.
41:09Yes, you always say that, and then you always pick up three new hobbies with your time off.
41:13This is different.
41:14Mm-hmm.
41:15Oh, uh, I left my jacket.
41:18I'll grab it.
41:19Hang on.
41:25There we go.
41:26Did you find it?
41:35Yeah.
41:46Oh, Bailey.
41:49What did you do?
41:56What did you do?
42:05What did you do?
