00:01Tourists from around the world come to Kenya to see lions in the wild.
00:06But here, on the edge of Nairobi National Park, lions are increasingly encroaching on human habitats,
00:13posing a threat to livestock, pets and people.
00:18The land was there. We tried to chase him. He killed a sumacal and a big living.
00:25He must have jumped over, over this.
00:30No more fences from here.
00:32As more residential settlements spring up around the park's southern border,
00:36encounters between humans and predators are becoming more frequent.
00:41And lions aren't the only species that pose a threat.
00:46It's not very dangerous for people walking along the way here.
00:50Very dangerous compared to the lions.
00:53It's a conservation headache for the Kenya Wildlife Service.
00:58Its job is to manage and protect the endangered species,
01:02while keeping humans who share space with them safe.
01:07Simon Rono disappeared while walking home alone one night.
01:11His brother went to look for him.
01:13I found a bag of maize flour on the ground, the pembe browned flour.
01:22It was wet from the rain, but it was still full.
01:26I moved forward a bit, taking a couple of steps,
01:29and then I saw what was left of Simon.
01:33I saw his head first.
01:35I was in shock.
01:36I called out his name, Simon.
01:41And then I saw his arm.
01:44When I tried to take hold of his arm,
01:46I saw a gumboot further away.
01:49His leg was still in it.
01:51I left his leg lying there and went to pick up his phone.
01:55I was just picking up his phone when the lion woke up
01:59and made a loud, growling sound.
02:02Scared, I backed off and stood up straight.
02:09The government says it's planning a migratory corridor
02:12between Nairobi and conservancies to the south.
02:15That will make it easier for predators to survive in the wild
02:19and hunt wild prey.
