00:00:00The team that wins the block this year is obviously going to build a magnificent home,
00:00:06but they're going to have the best garden.
00:00:10Gardens are so important.
00:00:12Landscape wins the block.
00:00:13100% mate.
00:00:14We know the task at hand, this week's going to be busy.
00:00:17And it is the biggest week of them all.
00:00:19This property is massive.
00:00:21Just the scale of this week is ginormous.
00:00:24You could arguably fit three previous block backyards into one of these places.
00:00:29It's unrealistic to think that you could landscape a tall backyard in a week.
00:00:32It's landscape week, we've got lots to do.
00:00:34Big space, big space means a lot of things that need to be done, which means a lot of money.
00:00:38I keep just saying any money you win is going to go into your landscape.
00:00:41Has anyone gone through the block and not won a room?
00:00:45Yep.
00:00:46We have not had a win yet. Thank you for pointing that out.
00:00:49We are going out with a bang.
00:00:52Even though some put plans in motion weeks ago,
00:00:55building a winning Dalesford backyard hasn't been a bed of roses.
00:00:59This is meant to be a fun week.
00:01:01There's been compliance issues.
00:01:02The fireplace is not compliant.
00:01:06Concrete slab between the pool and the deck was too steep.
00:01:09This may have to be ripped up.
00:01:12This slab cost me 20 grand.
00:01:14Budget strains.
00:01:15Hold off until we work out how much we care is there for.
00:01:18Redone it.
00:01:20We're going to make the most idyllic, beautiful Japanese zen garden.
00:01:24A lot of time and money.
00:01:25Neither of those we have.
00:01:26I'm not doing what everyone else is doing.
00:01:28I will do what I want to do.
00:01:30And it wouldn't be Backyard Week without a gift from the gods.
00:01:34And now it's officially Landscaping Week.
00:01:36Tonight.
00:01:37Step right up, step right up.
00:01:38The greatest show on earth.
00:01:40It's the final push to Backyard Reveals.
00:01:43And there's no time for clowning around.
00:01:46Do you reckon we're getting it done?
00:01:48Fine, done.
00:01:49A lot to do.
00:01:50A lot to do?
00:01:51Yeah.
00:01:52Go next door.
00:01:53That's a lot to do.
00:01:54How will it all end?
00:01:58Joining the Ringmasters tonight is special guest and landscape guru Dave Franklin.
00:02:03You're going to have a fantastic garden here and it's going to be hard to beat.
00:02:05But not everyone is on the bandwagon.
00:02:08I don't really like what I'm looking at.
00:02:11What is the purpose of that?
00:02:14I think this is a massive, massive error.
00:02:17It could be the only thing that turns a buyer off.
00:02:20And big secrets are revealed.
00:02:22But that's not all.
00:02:24Oh my.
00:02:25Gosh.
00:02:26Massive.
00:02:27Absolutely massive.
00:02:28Wide to our faces.
00:02:30Oh, you're going down in the last week, I tell you.
00:02:35Ah.
00:02:36Ah.
00:02:37Oh.
00:02:38Dead.
00:02:39Too much to do as per usual.
00:02:41It is the biggest week of them all.
00:02:42It's landscaping week.
00:02:43Yep, you heard it right.
00:02:44This week is the biggest week of them all.
00:02:45Because with each backyard measuring over a thousand square metres, it's literally the
00:02:46biggest area our blockheads have had to finish.
00:02:47This season.
00:02:48Oh, dead. Too much to do as per usual.
00:02:55It is the biggest week of them all, it's Landscaping Week.
00:03:02Yep, you heard it right, this week is the biggest week of them all.
00:03:07Because with each backyard measuring over a thousand square metres,
00:03:10it's literally the biggest area our blockheads have had to finish this season.
00:03:15Essentially from the back doors of the rumpus and the bedroom, back.
00:03:20So that includes pool area. Cold plunge and hot plunge.
00:03:23Paving around it. Pool cabana. What's it called?
00:03:27Well, we're not sure if it's a cabana or a cabana.
00:03:33Cabana. Cabana. It's definitely cabana.
00:03:36Cabana.
00:03:39In Adelaide, a cabana is a meat stick.
00:03:45And for those who know Matt...
00:03:47No.
00:03:48Everyone's got a big sausage in their backyard.
00:03:52Oh, we just call it a pool house. Straight to the pool house, dup.
00:03:55Yeah. Pool room.
00:03:56It's very us, isn't it? Pool house.
00:03:58And you can bet your bottom dollar our teams have a long list of features going in their backyards
00:04:04to help stand out from the rest and win ten grand for their front yard next week.
00:04:09Look at that.
00:04:13Matt and I believe Landscaping Week is probably one of the most important weeks.
00:04:18And if you win Landscaping Week, you've got a really good crack at taking home the competition.
00:04:2324 hours to go. We will be using every single minute of those 24 hours.
00:04:31We've never done a pool cabana. We've never built a cellar. We've never landscaped to this scale.
00:04:36Hardest week by a country mile. Predominantly because of the big setback we had when we had to pull up the concrete slab.
00:04:43Ah, yes, that was a massive concrete slab that joined the feature deck stairs to the pool area.
00:04:50Ten mil over a hundred mil. It's like five times the limit. Like, it's steep.
00:04:54This may have to be ripped up.
00:05:00Yeah, the concrete skate ramp that had to be deleted really lost us about two days.
00:05:05Oh, probably more because by the time that we had to, like, put the new retaining wall in, that only happened yesterday.
00:05:10Putting this retaining wall in, and Colin goes,
00:05:13Get rid of this retaining wall. And I want to put grass. It comes over.
00:05:16He's actually, he's not joking. Are you not joking? No.
00:05:19And I, I, and I was like, are you serious? Like, we've just spent four days putting this in.
00:05:25I know there's a lot of work, but it's the ugliest thing I've ever seen.
00:05:28I couldn't, I didn't know what to do. So I was like, oh, we'll wait till Em comes back and she can decide.
00:05:34Holy doly! We're trying to work out the ugliest retaining wall.
00:05:38The ugliest retaining wall ever. I've ever seen you guys build.
00:05:41What's the game plan? Just shovel dirt?
00:05:43We don't have one. We're going to make that flat for you.
00:05:45Yep. And then you're going to have some stairs there.
00:05:47Yep. And I want to put grass that comes over.
00:05:50Yep. It looks epic. Let me go find a spade.
00:05:53And you just said, yeah, go for it.
00:05:54I don't really get, it's, it, Colin's the designer and he knows what's going to look good, so.
00:05:59We had dirt, then we had concrete, and now we have dirt again.
00:06:02Now the dirt's going over the retaining wall, so we're going to have the grass roll over it.
00:06:06Still serving its purpose, it's still retaining everything.
00:06:09But we've just got a thin layer of soil over the top, which the grass will roll over.
00:06:14So that's the retaining wall finally sorted. Now how about those other pressure points?
00:06:20The cellar is so far off, and pull cabana, the shell's there.
00:06:25Unfinished.
00:06:26It's got a sauna in there, it's got tiles, and that's it.
00:06:30They're pretty screwed.
00:06:32I think just the stress of trying to put a cellar in as well, is really tricky.
00:06:36And we obviously want to try and do a really great job like the boys did.
00:06:40So we're trying, we're comparing ourselves to them.
00:06:42Which is hard when they get three tens.
00:06:45About the block's hardest working tilers, the Curcio's, have agreed to tile the cellar floor.
00:06:50Yeah, the Curcio brothers have come to save us.
00:06:53Save the day!
00:06:55This week, with Sunny and Alicia's permission...
00:07:01What, are you painting the rocks on?
00:07:03Fantastic!
00:07:04No, you're going to be gluing the rocks on.
00:07:06...Curcio times three...
00:07:09...have been spreading the love across the block, working in four of the five houses.
00:07:13Are you ready for the circus?
00:07:15Are you ready?
00:07:16They're ready to go now.
00:07:18One cellar needed sanding this morning, so Plasterer did that quickly.
00:07:22And then the Curcio brothers came and helped out with some tiling.
00:07:25Start at that end and work our way down.
00:07:28House one can take out this week, but they've got to finish their cellar.
00:07:32And that's the big issue we've got at the moment.
00:07:34Everything outside that wine cellar is looking amazing.
00:07:36They've got the gnome.
00:07:37Oh!
00:07:38I'm going, who's this hairy dude on it?
00:07:41I'm like...
00:07:43They need that wine cellar finished.
00:07:48Next door in house two...
00:07:50Han and Ken are also getting a helping hand from Han's dad Lee.
00:07:54I'll clean these and we just grout it.
00:07:56Yeah.
00:07:57They're going for a Japanese style garden designed by their landscaper Christian.
00:08:01But with little money in the budget and less manpower, it's anything but zen.
00:08:06There's a lot to do still.
00:08:08Probably furthest behind.
00:08:09We need the pool fence to go in.
00:08:11We need to clean the pool, fill the pool.
00:08:13Obviously the rain yesterday didn't help.
00:08:15Tiling the cabana.
00:08:17Trying to clean the cabana, grout the cabana, paint the cabana.
00:08:21I've got to go pick up furniture.
00:08:24There's boxes all through the driveway.
00:08:26It's a lot to do.
00:08:27A real lot to do.
00:08:28Do you need a hand with your tiling?
00:08:30Han should be helping her.
00:08:32Who?
00:08:33She's painting inside.
00:08:34We need help out here.
00:08:35We'll be right, Dan.
00:08:36You sure?
00:08:37Yep.
00:08:38I've heard that before.
00:08:39OK.
00:08:40Oh look, this is just poor time management right now.
00:08:44This is what this is.
00:08:45I can't see them finishing today.
00:08:47I really can't.
00:08:48Priorities are not where they should be.
00:08:50We're focusing off too much in there.
00:08:52We're just going to paint it or leave it and just come out here and get out here looking good.
00:08:56There's no point in having a pool cabana if we can't get water in the pool.
00:08:59No.
00:09:00I got nothing, I got nothing, I got nothing I do.
00:09:09Pressure washer.
00:09:10Well just...
00:09:11Yeah it's always a good sign when the pressure washer comes out, isn't it?
00:09:14Leisure veneering the end.
00:09:15They're doing good.
00:09:16We've managed our trades well and we're in a really good spot.
00:09:20Obviously we have all this land but we're so lucky because we have this huge 7.5 ton fireplace
00:09:26then an 18 by 8 pickleball court so that takes up a lot of real estate in our backyard so winning
00:09:31that was a was a great thing now that it's all come to life like it's pretty emotional looking
00:09:36at it i can't be happier to be honest i wouldn't change a thing well on lads and house thank you
00:09:41she's getting there what's that who's that the hell it's my husband wowie hello chris the plumber
00:09:48hello hello how are you now that shower head is all good to go and pick up from howard street
00:09:54race all right thanks mate appreciate it he pretty just asked me to be his boyfriend so i'm like
00:10:01whatever like stop calling it all the time
00:10:06sunny and alicia are yet to win a room and with only two more chances up for grabs they could make block
00:10:11history and be the first ever couple to go home without a win we're on the podium we're either
00:10:17second or third and just can't seem to get that win this week they're going all out with a family
00:10:22friendly backyard and they're the only ones with a fully self-contained pool cabana are we going to
00:10:28finish yes we are 100 let it down on the 11th week we're in good spots though but the boys went hard
00:10:35yesterday they planted every single one of these trees yesterday and so to do that meant that they
00:10:40could pretty much turf today how do you feel about the space do you think you're in the running oh listen
00:10:46we could be in we could be out we could be in with three tens and someone will get three eleven so
00:10:52we'll come second again stone elisa stone elisa the work of art don't you know the room wasn't built in a day
00:11:06i think for us we've put such a high importance on landscaping from day one we said kitchen and backyard
00:11:13landscaping is our number one priority and it's safe to say that after weeks of planning brit and
00:11:19taz are throwing everything they've got at securing a win this week there was nothing else we could do
00:11:25because we asked we said what else should we do how do we elevate this and troy's gone we cannot
00:11:30like we've got a creek running through the backyard we've got all the amenity you need you got your
00:11:35spa saunas ice baths fruit orchard greenhouse chicken coop a massive fireplace all stone cladded it's a
00:11:42statement piece of our backyard we wanted there is just the one case of the flu ah yes that issue
00:11:50with the fireplace flu you've got to be 300 mil above the roof line we can't build the chimney out of
00:11:56bricks that high it's just not going to be structurally stable so the question is do we get a flu made up
00:12:02more about the flu later this morning taz's mind is elsewhere you're very quiet today yeah my brother's
00:12:10getting married today so you know when you come on the show these are like one of the many sacrifices
00:12:18that you make so this was this was one of them you know you go three months without your kids you miss
00:12:26birthdays weddings funerals all of it for this um you can walk away with nothing
00:12:34we're very family first people brit and i so a little bit flattening but this is the biggest day
00:12:42for us on the block this saturday's hour everything so hey hey mate how are you looking good mate
00:12:57hey dad how are you yeah we dressed up for the occasion real sharp man real sharp sorry we can't
00:13:04be there today mate you look you look unreal um i hope you have a real good day we're very proud of
00:13:09here and yeah i'm glad carter and mila can be there for us and yeah you know what you go down
00:13:15no worries thanks very much thanks for the call he gets he loves his show he loves you know he's a
00:13:20landscaper so we're in landscape week so it's only fitting i reckon no he would have you know we
00:13:26would have loved to have him down here yeah when you win i'll see you back wedding present would want
00:13:31to be good i'd tell you that well you could you could have your wedding here again yes beautiful
00:13:36yeah it looks really good you're doing really well thanks mate all right proud of you mate take care
00:13:41all right cheers later see you christ bye i'm just so proud of him you know the family he's created
00:13:49and we just we wish you could be a part of it because it's so important to us family but um yeah we
00:13:55know we know how important it is to be here and i'm just glad our kids are there for us as well
00:14:00god got me crying you just yeah you wish you could be there but no we're here for a reason
00:14:14it's yeah it's hot
00:14:31it's saturday afternoon and all our blockheads are busy racing to complete their backyards
00:14:37by 9am tomorrow morning
00:14:42ah well most of them this is a life
00:14:45today and today only folks step right up step right up the greatest show on earth
00:15:03yeah the curse is in town
00:15:08a bit stressed out that we hadn't ordered enough files yeah it turns out we ordered one too many
00:15:13so lucky we didn't make a mistake oh no very lucky we couldn't make any errors lucky we had the the
00:15:18best boys in the biz on it normally a saturday comes around and we are styling by afternoon
00:15:31night time not this week no no it was dire benji's gonna plug along with the salad and i'm gonna focus
00:15:38on the poor cabana i think i've given up on the seller yeah what do you reckon do you reckon we're gonna get it done
00:15:44it's a fine done
00:15:45in house three the high pages stonemasons with the help of the curcios have performed a block miracle
00:15:55and have finished recladding britain taz's statement fireplace in record time
00:16:00i believe in miracle it looks amazing and they're making good progress in their cabana
00:16:06getting there look at that it's beautiful commissioned for us by a local artist no
00:16:12we have a beautiful custom grafico from a local jar jar artist so that's going to be the hero of the
00:16:19room we're also doing the home pro installation of curtains on the ceiling like we've done in the
00:16:24wellness room just to keep that flow keep that continuity this is where you tie everything together
00:16:28isn't it yeah with your wellness area and that room that you wouldn't budge on you have one living
00:16:34space and that's it and it will impact them on the market we love it we love the room we don't want
00:16:41to change it we don't want to change it we knew the vision of that what that whole space is going to
00:16:46be the reformer room the ice bath the hot tub the sauna you've got other sitting areas you're going to
00:16:51have the pool cabana i mean for us we're the wellness house so it's now starting to make sense
00:16:57why the long face a lot to do a lot to do yeah go next door that's a lot to do yeah who's there
00:17:04that's a lot to do
00:17:08you're in a really good spot you're stressing about the flu
00:17:15the chimney needs to be a certain height relevant to the distance to the house
00:17:21as the chimney is very close to the house it needs to be built up past the height of the roof
00:17:26for it to be compliant but bricks that high are a structural issue so brit and taz need to add a
00:17:33steel cylinder flue to reach regulation height we've got to put a scarf up and then put a flu in and then
00:17:39pull the scarf down that's tomorrow morning that's tomorrow's job only installation time they have is 7am on
00:17:45sunday pushing it just want to be in the race you're in the race yeah definitely tell you right now
00:17:53you're in it thanks dad
00:18:00i've just wished i've wished since the beginning i've wished for a saturday where we were just like
00:18:08polishing and priming and styling like we were just a day ahead everything was done
00:18:16i'm yet to have that day on the block
00:18:19pull 13 up cool tiles not complete the cabana's not anywhere near complete tiles still need to be
00:18:27done no paint on like i'm just no
00:18:30how's your day going matt yeah but it's been a lovely day to be honest now i have a night making
00:18:40furniture hardcore landscaping is completely done which is a huge plus but there's still this other
00:18:46factor of making that landscaping look good by styling how does this even work i was putting together
00:18:54flat pack furniture and house three's um landscaper came in through our back door and he goes hey mate
00:19:02hello how're going good now paul knows i'm coming to have a look okay i'd prefer if you didn't though
00:19:07oh it's okay our mates with paul who's our landscaper and i said no thank you that is a snake move
00:19:16not having it he can come through and have a look after judging but tas and brit are our biggest
00:19:22competition we had the fire going we're doing all the styling if he comes out there and goes they've
00:19:28got their fire lit they're going to be doing this they've got this on their table you know they could
00:19:33see what we're doing they could get an upper hand so i said sorry mate back to house three he's the boss
00:19:39it's his house you can see who's allowed in and who's allowed out so i said no worries turned around
00:19:43and came back he wasn't thrilled with it i could tell by the look on his face but you know i'd rather
00:19:50i'd rather win hmm so then we found a trampoline
00:19:58there's no one in there looks good yeah it looks okay you know what he looked at our backyard so
00:20:05let's go look at theirs lots of arbors they look like match suits after seeing that he thought it's
00:20:11a perfect opportunity to play hide and seek we wouldn't call it hide and seek we call it peekaboo
00:20:16what can you see matt a japanese garden a japanese arbor we'll just have a little look
00:20:25every time i can see bricks a brick thing see a pool and there's ben hey ben we didn't get to see too
00:20:34much to be honest everyone's got a beautiful yard we're going to be biased and say ours is the most
00:20:41beautiful and ours is the best yeah she's bloody looking good afternoon delight
00:20:54how you feeling mate yeah just feel like it's just slipping away a little bit actually
00:21:09yeah what do you do it's good it's a beautiful garden absolutely yeah it's a beautiful garden
00:21:15we're proud of it but um uh we'll just give it our best shot you might love the garden but is it
00:21:23going to get done don't know i love a flat pack everyone knows lesbians love a flat pack
00:21:45read up on it i didn't know about it and i'm a lesbian so i don't know how that works out oh you mustn't
00:21:55be a real lesbian do you believe in block magic block magic yeah it's a miracle
00:22:07inspiring because everyone was just keen to see it finished what a team huh oh yeah you guys have
00:22:17honestly saved us that's what you knew everyone that's what you realized everyone had bought in
00:22:22everyone had bought into completely the dream of actually finishing this and it required us both to
00:22:29believe it for everyone else to as well yeah well i reckon you've got a chance to get three tens pretty
00:22:35epic isn't it the only thing i think you're missing is some dry prosciutto up here if you had some dry
00:22:41prosciutto i reckon you'd get a 10. any prosciutto shops open at this hour i'm not sure but if you
00:22:45don't get your hands on it definitely won't be a 10.
00:22:56you don't get the time to go
00:23:06i think i might have pushed my luck to time watching everything about us is what gets me through
00:23:10oh look at it going phenomenal we have to just get everything all sorted and pretty
00:23:18and I like being sorted and pretty.
00:23:21It's all about selling the dream.
00:23:27We're trying to sell the dream,
00:23:29so we need to put the flu in the fireplace.
00:23:32We really want, really, really want to set that fire.
00:23:36It's a beautiful backyard.
00:23:37We couldn't, like, there's nothing we'd change about it.
00:23:39We're just going to do all the little extras now, clean style,
00:23:42get that bloody flute on, and then we're laughing.
00:23:45Get the what on?
00:23:47The flu.
00:23:48Would you look at that?
00:23:56Considering what that wine cell was only 12 hours ago,
00:24:02you just wouldn't think it's possible.
00:24:06Girl on a mission.
00:24:08Jeez.
00:24:095,000 steps this morning alone.
00:24:13Love it. Love it a million.
00:24:15I love this backyard.
00:24:16I actually, like, I love this backyard.
00:24:20You can imagine having a big party on there, too.
00:24:22Say whoever buys it.
00:24:23We're coming to Christmas.
00:24:28It's not a catwalk.
00:24:29Yeah, I think it's safe to say that we're going to win this week.
00:24:38Best of luck.
00:24:40I'm loving it.
00:24:41Just try to kiss me on my way.
00:24:43Best of luck.
00:24:45I'm moving on my way.
00:24:46How are you, Christian?
00:24:49Me?
00:24:50Yeah.
00:24:51Pfft.
00:24:52Couldn't be better.
00:25:01Yeah.
00:25:01Dad.
00:25:08One minute, Lee.
00:25:11Come on.
00:25:1920 seconds to go.
00:25:20Quick.
00:25:21Fast.
00:25:21Fast.
00:25:23Tenzin.
00:25:25God.
00:25:28Tools down!
00:25:30Yeah.
00:25:30Oh, tools down.
00:25:32Good job.
00:25:33Well done.
00:25:36Yay!
00:25:36This is the biggest week of our lives.
00:25:43Team hug.
00:25:43You guessed it.
00:25:44Well done, girls.
00:25:46Well done, Dad.
00:25:47That's David.
00:25:48Oh, it's a ghost!
00:25:51Is it cold?
00:25:53Yes!
00:25:54Oh, it's crazy!
00:25:56Woo!
00:25:59Will we be seeing the secret gnome tonight?
00:26:01The secret gnome's going to be dropped tonight.
00:26:04Ho, ho, ho, ho.
00:26:05Good morning, everybody.
00:26:13Morning.
00:26:14Morning.
00:26:15Darren.
00:26:16Another beautiful morning in Dales.
00:26:18The perfect day for a room reveal.
00:26:21Now, I suppose you're wondering why I brought Darren here this morning.
00:26:23Well, I cannot drive two cars at the same time.
00:26:27And I'm also thinking that you're asking, what is this?
00:26:32Wow.
00:26:32Well, this is the brand-new MGU-9.
00:26:37It's their very own ute.
00:26:39Hey!
00:26:40Hey!
00:26:40It is a 2.5-litre turbo diesel.
00:26:43It's got 3.5-tonne towing capacity.
00:26:46It's their very first ute, and it's an absolute ripper.
00:26:50Oh, it's nice.
00:26:51Darren, of course, is driving the latest version of the Super Hybrid that you've been driving these past couple of weeks.
00:26:58And guess what?
00:26:59What?
00:27:00You could win both these cars next week.
00:27:05Oh, my goodness.
00:27:07That is correct.
00:27:08The winner of Front Yard and Front Facade Week will win both these cars.
00:27:13The ute going straight in your driveway to sell with your homes.
00:27:16And the Super Hybrid, ready for you to jump in and drive all the way home to keep for yourselves.
00:27:23Two MGs.
00:27:24My gosh.
00:27:25Massive.
00:27:26Absolutely massive.
00:27:27Oh, my gosh.
00:27:29Do I want these cars?
00:27:30That's incredible.
00:27:32So your final week just got real.
00:27:36Wow.
00:27:36Absolutely did.
00:27:37Now, for you guys, it's tools down right now.
00:27:40But for these guys and the judges, it's tools up.
00:27:42All right.
00:28:09Go on up again.
00:28:13Hello.
00:28:14Hey, Scotty.
00:28:16Wow.
00:28:17Hello, Scotty.
00:28:18Scotty.
00:28:18Very spectacular, everybody.
00:28:20Scotty.
00:28:21Oh, nice.
00:28:23What about the lavender suit?
00:28:26You're welcome.
00:28:27Good evening, everybody.
00:28:29Hello, Scotty.
00:28:30Well, that was epic, wasn't it?
00:28:32You've got to love Backyard Week.
00:28:35Absolutely outstanding.
00:28:38Well done, everybody.
00:28:39Round of applause.
00:28:39Let's head to some feedback and find out who's going to take home the last $10,000 from MG.
00:28:49M and Ben.
00:28:56Week 11 was probably our worst week on the block.
00:28:59Worst, as in?
00:29:01Most challenging.
00:29:02Yeah.
00:29:02It was just really, really hard.
00:29:03It was full on.
00:29:05We have a winner!
00:29:07Yes!
00:29:07Yes!
00:29:08We won a sauna.
00:29:11You won a sauna.
00:29:12I did f***ing poor.
00:29:15Boy, we got a wine cellar.
00:29:20Just the scale of this week's room reveal is ginormous.
00:29:24The plan is...
00:29:26We've got to do this whole backyard.
00:29:28Just doing an added little bonus room of a cellar.
00:29:31We've got a pretty incredible design that's been created by our landscape.
00:29:34I'm Em.
00:29:35Hi, I'm Colin.
00:29:36Colin really wanted to incorporate the borrowed landscape.
00:29:40Just, what was it?
00:29:41The rolling hills of Dalesford.
00:29:42Yeah.
00:29:43And the other thing will probably be the tree selection.
00:29:45We're replanting Dalesford.
00:29:49Oh, it looks like we're going to have to lose all this paving.
00:29:52What?
00:29:53The bit between the deck and the pool is too steep.
00:29:57So we have to get rid of all that concrete.
00:30:04Tuscan Park pavers that we have here are probably going to suit the style that you're looking for.
00:30:09Kind of like how organic looking these ones are.
00:30:11I will take 50, please.
00:30:15The retaining wall's taken a lot longer than we hoped.
00:30:19Put the posts in so that sleepers could go in the next day.
00:30:22Colin said to me, I really want to get rid of this retaining wall.
00:30:28Are you serious?
00:30:29Like, we've just spent four days putting this in.
00:30:31I think if you'd asked us at the start of the week how this space is going to look,
00:30:37the answer would be completely different to how the space looks right now.
00:30:41It's all for the better.
00:30:42Like, how this is all shaping up looks incredible and I'm so happy with it.
00:30:47Yeah, I think the end outcome looks great.
00:30:52You were amazing, we did amazing things.
00:31:01I've been changing, we were amazing things.
00:31:11Oh, look at this magnificent.
00:31:14Oh, yeah.
00:31:14That's a good job.
00:31:15You're amazing, you're catching my new time.
00:31:19That's great.
00:31:20Well, hang on.
00:31:22We now have Dave Franklin with us, the expert on the landscaping.
00:31:27You can tell us what the plants are and not Marty.
00:31:31Everything's a fight, just hear the eye.
00:31:35Dave Franklin told the others about your landscape designer, the artist Colin Hyatt.
00:31:41Yeah.
00:31:41He's not just a landscape designer, he's actually an artist, okay, so when he's designing this
00:31:47here, it's picking up the colours from the cedar trees which you see over to the left here.
00:31:51But where we're standing here is basically designed as an amphitheatre to look out at
00:31:55Daleswood.
00:31:56Oh, but this is a grandstand for family memories and portraits and photos.
00:32:00And Shana, I can imagine you standing on the deck and singing and...
00:32:03Stop me.
00:32:04Just stop me.
00:32:05I am about to.
00:32:06Don't love the undulating form of the landscape throughout and the Tuscan path stepping stones.
00:32:16Obviously, this is what Colin's done, so he's obviously mimicking the, you know, what Daleswood's
00:32:20about and that's the rolling hills and that's what you're seeing in the landscape through
00:32:24here.
00:32:25Is that what he said to you?
00:32:26Yeah.
00:32:27Yeah.
00:32:28That was the brief.
00:32:29Borrowed landscape was the term he used.
00:32:30Basically, 80% is native here.
00:32:32Very sustainable as well.
00:32:33We've got some beautiful Sheaake pines off the back there and they are already two and
00:32:37a half, three metres tall.
00:32:38I'm expecting at least another half a metre by the time it comes auction time.
00:32:41You know what?
00:32:42You're going to have a fantastic garden here and it's going to be hard to beat.
00:32:46Shana then spotted a fruit orchard.
00:32:48They headed over and they think the fire pit is well placed.
00:32:52How great is this for a little sitting spot, get the marshmallows out?
00:32:54Beautiful because you can see the pool, you can see the deck, you can see everything around
00:32:59here.
00:33:00I think this position is beautiful.
00:33:02Yeah.
00:33:03And it's great to have a citrus garden for sustainability, not to mention the ready availability of delicious
00:33:09fruit.
00:33:10Talking of sustainability, the runoff from the gutters runs into that Kingspan tank and then
00:33:16that feeds the irrigation.
00:33:18Boom.
00:33:19Done.
00:33:20Thinking of your domain listing, Marty thinks there's a great hero shot looking back at the
00:33:25house which takes in the pool and the cabana.
00:33:29That is the hero shot showing such a unique house on this season.
00:33:34I think this is going to be one of the hardest houses to beat in terms of how relative it
00:33:39is to the natural environment.
00:33:41This here just screams Dalesford because you can see it.
00:33:44Yeah.
00:33:45In the foreground.
00:33:46And around the pool, Dave Franklin thinks the brown Little Hampton brick is a great choice.
00:33:51Works in perfectly with the mulch, works perfectly with the landscape, you know.
00:33:55So I think it's a winner.
00:33:56Into the cellar.
00:33:57No way.
00:33:58Wow.
00:33:59Geez, isn't this strategic from Emma and Ben.
00:34:16They've got a full wine cellar.
00:34:19Darren thinks the PGH stone is stunning.
00:34:22It's that natural environment, colour palette, materials palette.
00:34:27It relates to the outside, it relates to the landscape and it just feels really right
00:34:32for Dalesford.
00:34:33Well this is their answer.
00:34:34We are in a real estate competition.
00:34:36This is adding value to the buyers.
00:34:39And after seeing house five cellar, this is the perfect chess move.
00:34:46Checkmate is what you're hoping for, I'll bet.
00:34:49Yeah.
00:34:50These guys are damn good players.
00:34:53They're back in the game.
00:34:56There are five great houses, two with very substantial wine cellars.
00:35:02And this one feels like you're at a cellar door.
00:35:07That is a million dollar view.
00:35:09I was going to say, this is blowing my mind.
00:35:11It's something that I should be designing for my landscapes from now on.
00:35:14Oh.
00:35:15I think this is just a massive tick.
00:35:21Shona agrees.
00:35:22The whole space is beautifully presented.
00:35:25And it wasn't even close when she visited on Friday.
00:35:28Nah.
00:35:29Nowhere near.
00:35:30It was very far.
00:35:31Oh yeah.
00:35:32Look what they've done and styled to perfection.
00:35:35That they've even decanted the wine.
00:35:37And can I just say also, Emma is 18 weeks pregnant.
00:35:42Wow.
00:35:43It's incredible.
00:35:44It really is.
00:35:45Power to the women.
00:35:46Yes mate.
00:35:47Oh good.
00:35:49Finally to the cabana, Darren noted the solar panels on the roof.
00:35:53The solar panels as the roof.
00:35:55Geez that's smart.
00:35:56That is so great.
00:35:57Oh jeez.
00:35:58I love the form too.
00:35:59And the fact that that's printed.
00:36:00It's beautiful.
00:36:01Incredible.
00:36:02Inside they found some smart thinking.
00:36:05Geez that's smart building in the steam saunas Australia.
00:36:09Yeah.
00:36:10You get access to the view.
00:36:12Wow.
00:36:13That's amazing.
00:36:14Who would have thought.
00:36:15Wow.
00:36:16Ben and Emma were going to put a couch in here.
00:36:18And we were saying, you're coming from the sauna, the pool, just a bench.
00:36:21Smart.
00:36:22And I thought this was tiles.
00:36:23And that's just.
00:36:24It's wallpaper.
00:36:25Not stuck down wallpaper.
00:36:26Oh.
00:36:27Yeah.
00:36:28Gary thinks the basin is heaven.
00:36:32Shona added the whole space is heaven.
00:36:37I love that.
00:36:38I just love how luxury it feels.
00:36:40And there's so many layers of luxury here.
00:36:44That is what will capture the buyers.
00:36:46And when they see this online, this will jump through the screen.
00:36:49This is prime location.
00:36:52It's easy to live in.
00:36:54It's easy to entertain in.
00:36:55And it's easy on the eye because it's so beautiful.
00:36:58Why would you ever leave?
00:36:59It's life style.
00:37:00It was incredible.
00:37:01Okay, we need to leave because we've got four more of these.
00:37:03Wow.
00:37:04What a start.
00:37:05Well done, Emma Benn.
00:37:06Well done.
00:37:07Honey.
00:37:08That's great.
00:37:12It's time for you to decide which contestants you think have created this week's winning
00:37:25outdoor space.
00:37:27Just head to the block website now to cast your vote.
00:37:30And don't miss the results a little later in the show.
00:37:37Okay, house two.
00:37:38Han and Kan.
00:37:39This week was just joyous.
00:37:46Joy, flow, zen.
00:37:50You are so full of .
00:37:53Before we even came to the block, we decided we were going to do a Japanese-inspired garden
00:38:00with Christian Jenkins.
00:38:01Keep calm and drink tea.
00:38:04Absolute legend at doing very Japanese Zen gardens.
00:38:09The rocks are pretty cool.
00:38:11You know how I got those rocks delivered next door?
00:38:14Yeah.
00:38:15And I still had a few to get around here.
00:38:17Yeah, you still had like four or five.
00:38:19You used them in the garden.
00:38:21Our point of difference to the landscape is these rocks.
00:38:24Okay.
00:38:25And now they're in your landscape.
00:38:26Thing is, we were lovely enough to be able to store your rocks for you guys.
00:38:30Yeah.
00:38:31The deal was we would have the rocks there until the end of that day.
00:38:33Yeah, that's right.
00:38:34And they're actually still there.
00:38:35So I think if anything, we've been doing you guys a favour.
00:38:39We disagree to disagree and we get on with it.
00:38:41We spent our full $15,000 in Freedom Furniture.
00:38:48And then in our pool cabana, I want to do like a curved lounge.
00:38:52See, I love this side table too.
00:38:54So we need some like sun lounges.
00:38:56How many of those can we order?
00:38:58One, two, three, four, five.
00:39:03We're on a tight budget here.
00:39:05They're not cashed up.
00:39:06You know, we're competing in this landscape week in a kind of handicap race.
00:39:15So Dad and I were both rendering inside the cabana.
00:39:18That's your dad.
00:39:19Yeah.
00:39:20We didn't want the ripple effect inside.
00:39:22I like it.
00:39:26How are you feeling about the backyard?
00:39:28Yeah, like anxious.
00:39:29We need to get the pool fencing in, but we need these outer tiles down.
00:39:32ASAP.
00:39:33Tan.
00:39:34Hasn't dried at all.
00:39:35The pool fencing guy is standing around scratching his head going, they're not going to be ready.
00:39:45People on the other side.
00:39:46Beautiful.
00:39:47The amazing torii gates went up this morning.
00:39:49Look at that.
00:39:50Torii gates are used in Japan as an entry to a sacred place or a spiritual place.
00:39:56And they look absolutely stunning.
00:39:58I'm super proud of the fireplace that our High Pages Liverpool got us.
00:40:04It looks spectacular.
00:40:06Freaking amazing.
00:40:07We'd just love to have another week to like really finesse it, add some elements, like
00:40:17go the full gung ho on it.
00:40:19But it is what it is.
00:40:21Tools down.
00:40:22We're about to get judged for it.
00:40:24So let's see what the judges say.
00:40:26God, I love a Japanese maple.
00:40:31Yeah, I like a Japanese maple, but I don't really like what I'm looking at.
00:40:37What, that quickly?
00:40:39Yeah, that quickly.
00:40:41From what we've just come from, I'm sorry, but I just...
00:40:44He said this has a harsher feeling.
00:40:47It has a lot of rock.
00:40:49It's got a lot of pavers.
00:40:51This is really hard for kids to run around.
00:40:53They can trip.
00:40:54They can hit themselves.
00:40:55So it just has that harsher feel.
00:40:57And the buyers will feel that walking out onto this.
00:41:00Well, I do gotta say, so this is a landscaper that I do know as well.
00:41:06He's Christian Jenkins.
00:41:07He's always got a bit of a Japanese inspiration with him.
00:41:10I get when you say it's harsh, but you're looking at all the creepers through here, which is Dichondra.
00:41:15Okay, so this will grow out before the auction.
00:41:18I did actually see Christian this morning.
00:41:21So maybe just a little bit undercooked with some of the finishes.
00:41:24That's why you can see that there's no water in the pool.
00:41:26And the guys from Protector Trade were still doing the pool fencing at 8am.
00:41:31Mm-hm.
00:41:32You guys really did come down to the wire, didn't you?
00:41:34We did.
00:41:35Yeah, we cut it fine this week, for sure.
00:41:37I really like the stone.
00:41:39I love how organic and natural edge it is.
00:41:43And in the long term, that Dichondra, once it grows all through,
00:41:48and it will cover every single bit between all of this light grout in time,
00:41:53that's gonna be really, really elegant.
00:41:55I think it's great.
00:41:56Mm-hm.
00:41:57I do hear what you're saying about kids and running around and grass,
00:42:02but it's over there.
00:42:03Lots of lawn for kids to play.
00:42:08Shona agrees.
00:42:10She also really liked the use of boulders throughout.
00:42:13I love the boulders, the use of boulders, and all the plants that are around it.
00:42:18There'll be a lot of softness, and it becomes very ornamental.
00:42:22And a lot of people do gravitate to that.
00:42:25Marty agreed on this.
00:42:26The boulders are a hero.
00:42:28And the outdoor fireplace.
00:42:30Dave said, that is so cool.
00:42:32I've gotta say, I have not seen an outdoor fireplace that not is only circular,
00:42:37but you've got your circular seating around it as well.
00:42:39Yeah.
00:42:40This is a really good selling feature.
00:42:41Yeah.
00:42:42And it can have nailed this from a real estate perspective.
00:42:45Because buyers will, just like us right now, naturally will just congregate here.
00:42:49Yeah.
00:42:50This is such a great place to just sit, look back at the property, enjoy the sun.
00:42:54Yeah.
00:42:55Feels so intimate too.
00:42:56Mm-hm.
00:42:57As Shona pointed out, the modular walls are providing not only visual privacy,
00:43:02but acoustic privacy as well.
00:43:04What are the plants against the modular wall there?
00:43:07It's a lily-pilly.
00:43:08That's Waterhouse here.
00:43:09They'll be a big hedge.
00:43:10You can see it all the way around here, so they are fast growing as well.
00:43:13Will they get to like three, four metres in height?
00:43:15100%.
00:43:16Amazing.
00:43:17100%.
00:43:18Yeah.
00:43:19And I think that will then take away a lot of that harshness that I felt walking out.
00:43:22Marty also thought the deck around the pool is very appealing.
00:43:25I mean, it definitely has that more rustic feel, doesn't it?
00:43:29Well, okay.
00:43:30I absolutely love the deck and I love the rawness of the edge.
00:43:35I just wish they didn't put these feature tiles in here.
00:43:38Yeah.
00:43:39If that was just plain.
00:43:41Yeah.
00:43:42This is the hero.
00:43:43Yes.
00:43:44This is beautiful.
00:43:46That fourth material is a little bit too much.
00:43:49Well, it looks like the checkerboard in the garage.
00:43:51It does.
00:43:52It's not needed.
00:43:53Yeah.
00:43:54Marty thought you had great furniture around the pool.
00:43:57Was that all from freedom, girls?
00:43:59It was.
00:44:00Big freedom advert this week.
00:44:01One thing that we haven't noticed are these arbors over here, okay?
00:44:04Yeah.
00:44:05So that's where that Japanese influence comes from.
00:44:08So there is a story about these arbors here.
00:44:10So obviously Scotty's got a sawmill.
00:44:12He milled up the timber and brought it to Christian.
00:44:14And Christian built it right on site.
00:44:16Oh, it's beautiful.
00:44:17It's stunning.
00:44:18Into the cabana and Marty was perplexed with the layout internally.
00:44:23There's a couch on one side that doesn't really look at anything, including the TV.
00:44:29Why have a TV in here that can't really be utilised from the pool because of the way that the doors are,
00:44:39doesn't fit what this is meant to be used for?
00:44:41Like, this just is the wrong application.
00:44:44I think this is a massive, massive error.
00:44:47Yeah.
00:44:48I mean, the girls would have been better off just painting the contour of what was already there.
00:44:52Put a couple of yoga mats if they had no money or time.
00:44:54Yeah, that would have been a better...
00:44:55Just a couple of yoga mats and a couple of towels on hooks.
00:44:57That's all they needed.
00:44:58It's been better.
00:44:59Marty really wanted to walk under one of the harbours.
00:45:02When the judges got there, they all decided this was their favourite part of the garden.
00:45:07This is beautiful.
00:45:09Isn't it?
00:45:10This is tranquil.
00:45:11It's gorgeous.
00:45:12And you can imagine all the kids running around.
00:45:15Running around here.
00:45:16I was just going to say that.
00:45:17How beautiful is this?
00:45:18So, you can picture the kids running around here.
00:45:20Race you to the next house.
00:45:21Mixed feedback there, girls.
00:45:26But plenty of positives today from all of the judges.
00:45:29That is it.
00:45:31You're done.
00:45:32You're done.
00:45:33You're done.
00:45:34You're done.
00:45:35You're done.
00:45:36You're done.
00:45:37You're done.
00:45:38You're done.
00:45:39You're done.
00:45:40You're done.
00:45:41You're done.
00:45:42Take three, Britt and Taz.
00:45:43Mm-hmm.
00:45:44Deep breath.
00:45:45This week was what?
00:45:49A seafood sandwich from the survey.
00:45:54What?
00:45:55Because you'll have a crack at it, but you'll not know how it's going to end.
00:45:59Landscaping will probably win you the block this year.
00:46:03How you doing?
00:46:04Good, thanks.
00:46:05Nice to meet you.
00:46:06It's a secure Troy Lovett.
00:46:07Love it landscaping.
00:46:09The plan is to have beautiful timber arbors from trees that have fallen down in the area.
00:46:17Now we've got the timber, it's about cutting it up.
00:46:20I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay.
00:46:23I sleep all night and I work all day.
00:46:25Sorry, sorry.
00:46:26Oh my God, it just felt like out of a movie.
00:46:28Yeah, it was a bit romantic actually, me and Scotty Camden, wasn't it?
00:46:32So we started landscaping three weeks ago.
00:46:34All the levels have been done, all the concrete that we needed to be poured is poured.
00:46:39It's going really well.
00:46:40We're in a really, really good spot.
00:46:42Best week of the block.
00:46:43Landscape wins the block.
00:46:44100%.
00:46:45So how we're trying to set ourselves apart is being very on brief with Dale's first.
00:46:49It's all about natural beauty, sustainability, wellness.
00:46:56A beacon lighting consult, that's how it's going.
00:46:59We also need to look at where you want garden lighting so we make sure they've got power points in it ready for it.
00:47:05Basically lights everywhere.
00:47:06A lot of drawings.
00:47:07Hopefully it all comes together well.
00:47:11Troy over here is that I've found a fruit orchard in the backyard of this girl's house who's happy to give it to us.
00:47:16Six fruit trees all up.
00:47:18Mate, we'll get whatever we can.
00:47:19It was about nine grand's worth of fruit trees.
00:47:21Troy sent his guys and we're able to pick up this beautiful nectarine tree.
00:47:25And we've got the plum tree as well.
00:47:27And the second lemon tree over there as well.
00:47:29To be able to save some money and, you know, repurpose some of these trees has been a really, really good result.
00:47:34Colby and Sean worked tirelessly off-site to create a chicken coop in the exact same shape as the house.
00:47:47They put the two birdhouses up, which we really love.
00:47:50Again, like the chicken coop, triangle houses.
00:47:53It's just like what's not a feature out there actually.
00:47:57There's lots of features.
00:47:58It looks amazing.
00:47:59I'm just proud of Brit because this week was also super stressful.
00:48:04Barbie produced The Best Backyard.
00:48:14I hope the judges just see that it just screams the Ellsfords from the bar saunas, ice baths.
00:48:20Hopefully they say, I get why they did the reformer room now.
00:48:24Because they've been rinsing us for seven weeks for it.
00:48:26So hopefully it makes sense to them now.
00:48:32Wow-wee.
00:48:33Okay.
00:48:39Heaven.
00:48:40They were immediately drawn to the lounge area and took a seat.
00:48:44Darren said, thank goodness they put an umbrella in.
00:48:48This is a very elegant space.
00:48:50But I'm still the only one in the shade.
00:48:53Guys, you've got to remember, we've got some big trees here, okay?
00:48:56So they are deciduous trees.
00:48:58So when it's summertime, these trees are going to give you cover.
00:49:01Love that!
00:49:02Thank God you're here, Dave.
00:49:04Darren thinks the PGH stone on the fireplace is stunning and magical.
00:49:10It is really beautiful.
00:49:12I love the stark white.
00:49:14I love the link to inside.
00:49:16And I just, I think this area as a lounge area,
00:49:20on top of that area as your dining area,
00:49:23it's just magic.
00:49:26Marty said, seeing it all finished,
00:49:28he can imagine the wedding shoot here right now.
00:49:31They actually started on this outside area,
00:49:35planning and prepping, months ago.
00:49:37And you can see the level of finish here,
00:49:40compared to what we've seen.
00:49:41This is shoot ready right now.
00:49:43Yes.
00:49:44Well, this is Troy Lovett.
00:49:45Lovett Landscapes, okay?
00:49:46So, talking about the design that he's gone for,
00:49:48he wants to basically have like a contemporary garden here
00:49:51with links to like the wellness.
00:49:54And that's why we've got the sauna, the spa, the cold plunge.
00:49:57But the connection is these arbours, okay?
00:50:00So, this feeds you out.
00:50:02Now, they may look a little bit bare at the moment,
00:50:04but you can see that they've got star jasmine
00:50:06that's going to go up the side of these.
00:50:07So, yes, if it's a wedding,
00:50:09but it's more to take the focal point down to the pool.
00:50:12It sections it off.
00:50:14And this is something that I absolutely love.
00:50:16It's more like a classic modern to me.
00:50:18It's like a journey garden.
00:50:19Yeah.
00:50:21Shona thinks the planting is all stunning.
00:50:24She also really liked the birdhouses attached to the arbours.
00:50:28Speaking of birds, a chicken coop as well and a greenhouse.
00:50:33What a great spot.
00:50:35It's fantastic.
00:50:36It really is.
00:50:37It feels very expensive.
00:50:38Yeah.
00:50:39They've sold perfect use here.
00:50:41They've given every single thing a purpose
00:50:43and a deliberate use.
00:50:45And they found a creek.
00:50:48That's the first on the block.
00:50:50So, generally, all of these properties have a rainwater garden, alright?
00:50:54Yes, we've seen that.
00:50:55But this one's so much bigger.
00:50:57Do you see this as too big of a bed?
00:51:01Because whilst I love the architecture behind it,
00:51:05I also think, well, a buyer will come here and go,
00:51:08what is the purpose of that versus the purpose of having more grass
00:51:13for the kids to kick a footy or...
00:51:15I love the look of it, but just the practicality side.
00:51:18I'm on the fence on this one, to be honest,
00:51:19because, you know, this will photograph up so good
00:51:22and I get where it is.
00:51:23It's sustainable.
00:51:24It's got everything.
00:51:25It screams Dale's foot as well at the same time.
00:51:27It could be the only thing that turns a buyer off.
00:51:31Shona told him to shut up.
00:51:33Yes, Shona.
00:51:35She said, this is magnificent.
00:51:37This is like a childhood dream.
00:51:40Like, I know you've got little kids, I've got grandkids
00:51:43and I can see them just spending all their time out here
00:51:46and not coming inside.
00:51:49I think that this is the stuff of childhood dreams.
00:51:53It's the things that I remember from when I was a little kid,
00:51:56but selling a house, families always say,
00:52:01oh, this isn't enough lawn for my kid to run around.
00:52:04Well, I've never seen someone jump online and go,
00:52:06I need to find a house with a big dry creek.
00:52:07With a creek?
00:52:08Yeah.
00:52:09I mean, it's a great, it's a great feature, but it's not.
00:52:11This is huge.
00:52:12They're building something that you didn't know you wanted.
00:52:14I'm literally going to stick to my guns with this one.
00:52:18They then headed towards the cabana and took in the pool
00:52:21and they were immediately drawn inside.
00:52:23Oh, wow.
00:52:24How's this craftsmanship?
00:52:26Look at the way that they've cut and installed this decking.
00:52:30Just the simplicity of using this over and over and over again.
00:52:33It's one big space.
00:52:35It looks super minimalistic and refined.
00:52:38Wow.
00:52:39It's...
00:52:40Garen also loved the consideration of doing one light-plungy pool
00:52:46and one dark-plungy for the spa.
00:52:48And that Freedom furniture is beyond stunning.
00:52:51Now we have the Contour 3D cabana and I want to see how they've used it
00:52:58because, controversially, Dave, in there we've got a Pilates studio.
00:53:02So this is clearly a lifestyle-centric house.
00:53:06I want to know how they've picked up that lifestyle in here.
00:53:09Finally, to the cabana, they thought the couch was in the right spot
00:53:13and no internal render, so it honours the detail of the Contour 3D.
00:53:18This is not a lounge room, though, is it?
00:53:22No.
00:53:23This is a cabana.
00:53:24Yeah.
00:53:25Yeah.
00:53:26You've still got one lounge room.
00:53:28Why on earth you have to stick to your guns
00:53:32and not put the Pilates studio in the shed or in here?
00:53:36This is such a good spot for a Pilates studio.
00:53:39Here we go.
00:53:41For real.
00:53:43Pilates said they could lose this competition
00:53:45because of that Pilates studio.
00:53:47They all debated if you are just too focused or too stubborn.
00:53:52Both, maybe.
00:53:56Fortunately, this is Backyard and Cabana Week
00:54:00and the backyard is amazing and so is this cabana.
00:54:04This cabana's fantastic.
00:54:05This sells the dream of the wellness and they've ticked every box.
00:54:10I want to do a call out to Troy Lovett for his design
00:54:13and also Britt and Taz for getting someone in early
00:54:15because you can feel it, you can see it,
00:54:18and they've allocated money right from the start
00:54:20and it is the dream.
00:54:22They have created this dream backyard.
00:54:25Some brilliant feedback there Britt and Taz.
00:54:27That's it.
00:54:28That's it.
00:54:29That's it.
00:54:30That's it.
00:54:31That's it.
00:54:35OK, House 4, Sunny on a ledge.
00:54:49This week was fun. We're not at the peak yet, but this was us climbing to the peak.
00:54:56Hey Paul. We worked really closely with our landscape design, Paul Pritchard and also Dylan from Jade Built.
00:55:02I've had experience in the past working with Dave Franklin.
00:55:05Yes, Dave does the judging, so maybe he'll be a little biased.
00:55:13We've built our house with a family like us in mind.
00:55:18Kids want some grass to play on. They love having a bit of grass, a bit of lawn to kick the football.
00:55:25Open space is great. You don't want to feel crowded. You've got this space to use it.
00:55:28We have to think if we're using tiles anywhere in the backyard, the front yard, the side yard, the up yard, the down yard and every yard in between and your neighbours yard.
00:55:40Let's do pool.
00:55:41There's these ones.
00:55:42There's these ones.
00:55:43Yeah, that one, that one there. Yeah, that looks quite different. That looks like primatine sort of looking, isn't it?
00:55:50The bocce court, they've marked all that out, dug it out. Sick.
00:55:54Yeah.
00:55:55Yeah.
00:55:56I got to Bunnings and I found the fire pit aisle and I needed to make sure that I picked the right one.
00:56:07I mean, it's pretty good.
00:56:22Looks like Heathcote's the one.
00:56:24Oh, Mick, I think this is sold.
00:56:26It's the biggest wood on the block, my arbor.
00:56:31What?
00:56:34Looking at the arbor here, is this Wombat Park inspiration from our long lunch?
00:56:37Absolutely.
00:56:38It is.
00:56:39It is.
00:56:40Yay!
00:56:44Our team has been A1 from the start, haven't they?
00:56:47You're getting sad now.
00:56:48No, but they have been.
00:56:49They have.
00:56:50I was a bit teary looking at it this morning.
00:56:52It withdrew emotion out of me.
00:57:03It fills the focal point of the whole yard with the arbor behind it and everything is right there.
00:57:09When you stand on the al fresco and you look out.
00:57:11Yeah.
00:57:12It's sick.
00:57:13Yeah.
00:57:18Nice.
00:57:19Oh.
00:57:20Wow.
00:57:21Look at that.
00:57:22How good's this look?
00:57:23Sun coming through.
00:57:24Oh.
00:57:26This is beautiful.
00:57:32It's so simple.
00:57:33Yeah.
00:57:34But yet looking out is a textbook back garden.
00:57:38It is.
00:57:39It's textbook.
00:57:40Yeah.
00:57:41This is a landscaper that we have had on the show before.
00:57:43So his name is Dylan Barker from Jade Landscapes.
00:57:45Wow.
00:57:46I got to speak to him this morning and the landscape is all about family and a home.
00:57:51Mate, I would say a good proper Aussie backyard.
00:57:54That's exactly what this is like.
00:57:55Yeah.
00:57:56Yeah.
00:57:57Shona said to Marty, you wanted lawn, you've got lawn.
00:58:01I mean, that's the thing.
00:58:02Straight off the deck, you've got heaps of lawn.
00:58:04Yeah.
00:58:05This is the only design that we've seen where the outdoor dining is so far away from the
00:58:09rest of it.
00:58:10It's quite different and unique and it actually works.
00:58:14Shona just love the colour of the Little Hampton Brick Company pavers.
00:58:18They feel very handmade, probably because they are Shona.
00:58:22Yes, Shona, they are.
00:58:23Look at this and how the arbor relates to this furniture.
00:58:28We were saying that's the wedding house.
00:58:30But this is like, you entertain for Christmas Day with three or four families combined.
00:58:36It's like 24 people.
00:58:37Wow.
00:58:38Yeah.
00:58:39It's simple.
00:58:41It's solid.
00:58:42I was even looking at the pool fence and going, I wish they had have upped the spec.
00:58:46But then I've noticed a lot of these trees and plants, they're actually all going to
00:58:50keep growing and they're going to actually make the fence disappear.
00:58:53So if it was glass, it would have been an issue.
00:58:56Is that right?
00:58:57Correct, mate.
00:58:58Again, this is a garden that's going to be ever changing as well.
00:59:00So it is well thought out with the plant palette here.
00:59:03So this is another garden that's going to look fantastic come Oxman time.
00:59:06Yeah.
00:59:07Shona noticed the wisterias planted next to the arbor and imagine what it will be like
00:59:12when they grow over the top.
00:59:14Just beautiful.
00:59:15I'm looking at the timber and thinking, jeez, do you want to cover it?
00:59:18But again, wisteria will look fantastic.
00:59:20Of course.
00:59:21I tell you what, everything I look at looks like an elevation of the perfect Aussie garden.
00:59:29You're right.
00:59:30You're right.
00:59:31It really is.
00:59:32Compliments kept on coming, Sonny and Leish.
00:59:36Yay.
00:59:37I do love that raised garden bed.
00:59:38That's just so practical.
00:59:40And we've got a fig tree.
00:59:41We've got maybe a lemon or a lime.
00:59:43Yes.
00:59:44This is great.
00:59:45Look at this little rolling knoll down.
00:59:46Mm.
00:59:47You're making little knolls going down there.
00:59:49Yeah.
00:59:50Marty then headed inside your sauna and he thanked you very much for switching it on.
00:59:56Look how big it is.
00:59:58This is a cool sauna.
01:00:00It's on.
01:00:01It's on.
01:00:02I love it.
01:00:03This is a great little spot too.
01:00:04Is it?
01:00:05It's not like they don't have a lot of dining spaces.
01:00:07I was just going to say, I just think it's, don't need that.
01:00:09Unless it's to connect something here, what have they done?
01:00:14Okay.
01:00:15That's interesting.
01:00:16Oh.
01:00:17Check it.
01:00:18Look.
01:00:19Ah.
01:00:20There we go.
01:00:21Little day bed.
01:00:22Little day bed.
01:00:23And then found a microwave, a toilet, kitchenette, and then kind of realised what type of room
01:00:29he was actually in.
01:00:30It's a poolside cabana, obviously.
01:00:32But the fact that you could crash here.
01:00:35Crash here.
01:00:36Yeah.
01:00:37Marty said it's like a little hotel swing.
01:00:39Because you've got heating and cooling.
01:00:41This is the highest spec cabana we've seen today.
01:00:44Like every single part of the wall is stunning.
01:00:48Dave said this is the best pool cabana he'd ever seen.
01:00:52He called it a great doghouse and it's extremely well executed.
01:00:57Sonny would know what that is.
01:00:58That's why I built it, Steve.
01:01:00You're always in trouble.
01:01:01I'm always in the doghouse.
01:01:03It's a well lit doghouse.
01:01:05It's very, very beautiful.
01:01:06The design, the materials, even the decision to paint the ceiling black.
01:01:11And that they've honoured the Contour 3D form.
01:01:15Tell you what, I was not expecting to see a cabana to this standard.
01:01:19He said this space is now part of the agent's campaign.
01:01:23They then headed out to find not only a fire pit, but a whole petonk pitch, or bocce, depending
01:01:29on where you come from.
01:01:30This looks like it's the professional size.
01:01:32Wow.
01:01:33Marty's not there.
01:01:34Oh, that's pretty good.
01:01:35It is.
01:01:36They all had a go and they found themselves very happily relaxing here in the sunshine.
01:01:42What is amazing is that they've placed this bench here for this purpose and we did exactly
01:01:48what you naturally do when you're playing this game socially with friends.
01:01:52Wow.
01:01:53What a, what a backyard.
01:01:55That's it, Sonny Elish.
01:01:56Well done.
01:02:09Okay, how's five Robbie and Matt?
01:02:11G'day.
01:02:14This week was beautiful and muddy.
01:02:20Pool day.
01:02:21Pool day.
01:02:22Awesome.
01:02:23Plungy day.
01:02:24So I met Cam from Plungy.
01:02:27We're actually launching a new Plungy called the Quad, which is a 2.2 metre square Plungy.
01:02:35Well-being is such a hot trend that we've designed this to be a cold plunge pool.
01:02:40Plungy are giving us two pools.
01:02:42One for the entertainment.
01:02:43Plungy max.
01:02:44And a cold pool.
01:02:45Plungy quad.
01:02:47The backyard is an entertainer and family dream.
01:02:52Play pickleball, jump in the pool, sit in front of the fireplace.
01:02:56So many options.
01:02:57Paul Grant and his team.
01:02:58They're perfectionists.
01:02:59We love Paul and to be honest, there is no way we could do it without him.
01:03:03He is phenomenal.
01:03:06We are going to be putting a big tree here.
01:03:10So I'd like to put maybe like two chairs together and something there.
01:03:14What about these manly chairs, these two little ones?
01:03:18Amazing.
01:03:19All this freedom furniture is going to be exactly what we need.
01:03:25What do you think of this?
01:03:26Oh, wow.
01:03:27It's around about 25 years old.
01:03:31I didn't know what a bottle tree was until I got to the bottle tree place.
01:03:34Bottle tree, bottle tree, bottle tree, bottle tree, bottle tree.
01:03:36I love this girl.
01:03:37She's thick and I think she needs to come home with me.
01:03:41She's massive.
01:03:42It is beautiful mate.
01:03:44Great pick.
01:03:47Finally this big pickleball court is now being installed.
01:03:50Just the size of it alone is huge because you could chuck a marquee on that.
01:03:55You could see a hundred people on that easily.
01:03:57Easily.
01:03:58I went to Stony Creek Gallery.
01:04:01The gallery is mind blowing.
01:04:04It's amazing.
01:04:05Took one of Michael Parker's personal sculptures.
01:04:09Wow.
01:04:10It's so much more beautiful than what I even thought it would be.
01:04:14This is one of his last sculptures that he has ever done.
01:04:17And so we are very grateful to have this in our yard.
01:04:20It's incredible.
01:04:22Paul.
01:04:23If I could bottle this up.
01:04:24Bottle, bottle this up.
01:04:25I would.
01:04:26I would bottle this up.
01:04:27Paul's vision has come to life.
01:04:30I would.
01:04:31Because you're gorgeous in this moment.
01:04:34And he even said this is the best work he's ever done.
01:04:38So suddenly I'm in love with a stranger.
01:04:43We've listened, we've learned, and we've grown.
01:04:46And this week showcases everything that we've learned.
01:04:50We're here to win this competition.
01:04:53Mmm.
01:04:54Big words.
01:04:55Well we are.
01:04:59Oh.
01:05:00Oh my goodness.
01:05:02Wow.
01:05:04Look at all the curves Shana.
01:05:06This is, you know what?
01:05:07This is very Dr. Seuss.
01:05:08Oh.
01:05:09Don't you think?
01:05:10Very magical.
01:05:11It is magical.
01:05:16Look at the fire in the trends.
01:05:18Wow.
01:05:19Oh.
01:05:20Look at that.
01:05:21It's got a couple of bloody pieces of meat on it.
01:05:24Oh my God.
01:05:25A couple of pieces.
01:05:26They're Flintstone size.
01:05:27Oh.
01:05:29He was literally salivating.
01:05:31That's ready to eat.
01:05:32Yeah, we'll put that after.
01:05:33This is fantastic, isn't it?
01:05:34It's just so good.
01:05:36It anchors the outdoor entertaining.
01:05:38This bench here acts as a bit of a seat.
01:05:41I love the finish as well.
01:05:42Yeah.
01:05:43That's beautiful.
01:05:44This is a designer that I do know.
01:05:45Another landscaper I know.
01:05:47All right.
01:05:48His name is Paul Grant.
01:05:49And he did say that this is one of the biggest outdoor fireplaces in the region.
01:05:53In the region.
01:05:54In the region.
01:05:55There you go.
01:05:56But I've never seen anything this big before.
01:05:57So.
01:05:58It's incredible.
01:05:59Marty was briefly concerned about the placement of the fireplace.
01:06:05From the deck and from a family perspective, not being able to see the kids in the pool.
01:06:10That is a concern.
01:06:11And I think people will recognise that when they come here.
01:06:14Well, actually, a Swan security camera up here point directly at the pool.
01:06:18So you can watch that from your phone or from the TV inside in the living room.
01:06:23And you can keep an eye on the kids while they're in the pool.
01:06:26That's pretty cool.
01:06:27Yeah.
01:06:28That's pretty handy.
01:06:29Dave Franklin talked a lot today about the layering of the basalt and pebbles.
01:06:34And the very considered placement of everything in the garden.
01:06:39This landscape here is sustainable.
01:06:41You can turn the irrigation off on this one.
01:06:43Really?
01:06:44And this one will grow no problems whatsoever.
01:06:45Wow.
01:06:46Dave looked to the side of your yard and said...
01:06:48We've had some trees on the block, but this is just a hero, isn't it?
01:06:51Yeah.
01:06:52It really is.
01:06:53That's one of the most beautiful trees I've seen in my life.
01:06:55Wow.
01:06:56So it is about 25 years old.
01:06:57It's beautiful.
01:06:58It's this tree.
01:06:59But how good is just having a simple tree than having a structure?
01:07:02I think this looks fantastic.
01:07:04Darren then had to quote the castle.
01:07:07Oh, the serenity.
01:07:10I thought you were going to say I dug a hole.
01:07:12Come on.
01:07:15Darren really liked the inclusion of the food cubes.
01:07:18So you've got that lovely sustainable grow your own food thing at home.
01:07:21Yeah.
01:07:22You've got a trellis to grow things up in a vine.
01:07:24Technically it's wonderful, but it's so pretty.
01:07:26And we haven't even mentioned the swimming pool.
01:07:29I'm surprised you haven't mentioned the...
01:07:31Because I can't wait to...
01:07:33Hey, you got me a bocce mate, but you ain't getting me a pickle.
01:07:36Get on that court.
01:07:38And then the competition between the judges was on again.
01:07:41Is this what you and your real estate mates do every week?
01:07:44Hey?
01:07:49There's no mercy here.
01:07:54I nearly went over there.
01:07:55Scores, Marty two, Dave zero.
01:07:58You know what?
01:07:59The boys...
01:08:00The boys won the fireplace.
01:08:02They won the pickleball court.
01:08:05They won the money from the wine cellar to get the bottle tree.
01:08:09Everything they won has added value to here.
01:08:13You've made it all work so well together.
01:08:15It's very cohesive.
01:08:18This here is a pretty incredible inclusion.
01:08:20These are the only contestants that have actually added this in.
01:08:24Hey, that actually goes quite quick.
01:08:25That's easy.
01:08:26Look at that.
01:08:27And they're easy.
01:08:28Geez.
01:08:29From Shade Spot here, I'll be honest, I haven't seen one of these before.
01:08:31So...
01:08:32It's actually giving shade over there.
01:08:33Yeah, that's it.
01:08:34So it just depends where you're wanting to sit.
01:08:36Well, when it's 12 to, you know, 2 o'clock and that sun is beating down on a 40 degree day.
01:08:41Yeah.
01:08:42That's actually giving them the protection that's needed.
01:08:45Inside the Contour 3D Cabana, they found another sauna and another great inclusion.
01:08:51But they didn't think it was built in as well as house once was.
01:08:55It just feels like it's plonk there to me.
01:09:00I would rather see something a little bit more in here.
01:09:03But, you know...
01:09:04It's great, but it's not as luxurious as some of the other Cabanas we've seen.
01:09:07Definitely not.
01:09:08Mmm.
01:09:10They then headed back to the fire to deliberate.
01:09:13And found Matty from the Dalesford Meat Company slicing up the ribeye for them.
01:09:18G'day, mate.
01:09:19Hello.
01:09:20How are you doing?
01:09:21Chef and everything!
01:09:22Looking for a couple of extra points there, man.
01:09:26As they ate their steak, they thought about what they'd seen today.
01:09:30And they have nothing but high praise for all of you.
01:09:33I'm gonna say, I've been on the block for a long time, but this is some of the best landscapes I've ever seen.
01:09:39And that is high praise indeed, considering he's done a lot of them himself.
01:09:43Time for the scores.
01:09:46Congratulations, everyone.
01:09:47You bloody think of everything, don't you?
01:09:48What?
01:09:49Not the state.
01:10:00Here we go.
01:10:02Congratulations, everyone.
01:10:03Okay, Dave Franklin's first.
01:10:06Emma and Ben.
01:10:0880% is native here.
01:10:10Very sustainable as well.
01:10:11It's gonna be hard to beat.
01:10:17Pan and can.
01:10:19Maybe just a little bit undercooked with some of the finishes.
01:10:22That's why you can see that there's no water in the pool.
01:10:29Britain tats.
01:10:30This is something that I absolutely love.
01:10:31It's more like a classic modern to me.
01:10:40Setting a leash.
01:10:41Landscape is all about family and a home.
01:10:44This is what they've ticked off here.
01:10:49Robbie and Matt.
01:10:50We've had some trees on the block, but this is just a hero.
01:11:03High scores.
01:11:04Jumps down.
01:11:05Here you go.
01:11:06Right.
01:11:07Darren and Marty.
01:11:08And Ben.
01:11:09It's that natural environment materials palette, and it just feels really right for Dalesford.
01:11:21Pan and can.
01:11:22I really like the stone.
01:11:23I love how organic and natural edge it is.
01:11:39Britain tats.
01:11:41This area as a lounge area on top of that area as your dining area.
01:11:46It's just magic.
01:11:47It's a new leash.
01:11:48Everything I look at looks like an elevation of the perfect Aussie garden.
01:12:07Robbie and Matt.
01:12:08Technically it's wonderful, but it's so pretty.
01:12:11I've never seen this.
01:12:12Holy doly.
01:12:13Howdy Fox.
01:12:14Evan Ben.
01:12:15This here just screams Dalesford because you can see it in the foreground.
01:12:27In the foreground.
01:12:34You've got the same right now.
01:12:37Really?
01:12:38Oh my god.
01:12:39I'm so close.
01:12:40I'm so close.
01:12:45And I can't.
01:12:46I don't really like what I'm looking at.
01:12:54Britain tears.
01:12:55Love the look of it, but just the practicality side, it could be the only thing that turns
01:13:00a buyer off.
01:13:08Sunny and Alicia.
01:13:11It's quite different and unique, and it actually works.
01:13:14One corner.
01:13:15What have we met?
01:13:16Look at the fire in the trends.
01:13:29It's just so good.
01:13:30It anchors the outdoor entertaining.
01:13:31Righty-o.
01:13:32Okay.
01:13:33I'll be back in a sec.
01:13:34Hey Scotty.
01:13:35Yes?
01:13:36A hundred bucks.
01:13:37We have a gnome on it.
01:13:38What's that mate?
01:13:39You'd like to play your secret gnome?
01:13:40Yeah, we would like to play our secret gnome.
01:13:41I told you guys.
01:13:42You lied to my face.

01:13:46Ben and Em won a secret gnome on the domain.
