Most players can agree: these games are garbage. We're diving deep into the most universally despised video games that made players want to throw their controllers across the room.
00:00Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking over the games that are despised
00:08across the board, either due to their poor quality or content that borders on
00:13insulting. Number 10, Sonic the Hedgehog.
00:23Ah, Sonic 06, the most prominent stain on the Blooblers' legacy to date, and we're
00:34including all the creepy members of the fanbase in that discussion. What should've been a
00:39rip-roaring good time full of speed, style, and Sega goodness quickly dissolves into a
00:44glitchy abomination? It got so bad you were afraid to go too fast on account of Sonic
00:55potentially flying off the screen and breaking the whole game. When gotta go fast becomes
01:00a detriment, you know you messed up. The only thing worse being how one of the plot points
01:05involved Sonic being brought back to life by the kiss of a princess, a teenage human princess.
01:12Number 9, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5.
01:28This fifth mainline entry did so much damage to the skating juggernaut of a franchise that
01:33the only way it's managed to restore any kind of dignity is by releasing remakes of
01:38the classic Pro Skater games back to back. Don't get it twisted, we adore the remakes.
01:43It reminds us of why we fell in love with the Tony Hawk games to start with, but they also
01:47serve as a stark reminder of the hole they had to crawl out of.
02:00Pro Skater 5 was so broken at launch that the day one patch to try to fix things ended up
02:05being bigger than the game itself. And still, the bugs and subpar gameplay persisted.
02:10There are wipeouts, and then there's this.
02:21From top to bottom, Gearbox's attempt to bring the thrill of fighting against Xenomorphs is a category 5 failure.
02:38Mistakes in the coding ensured that the AI for the aliens ran rampant and made for easy pickings, offering little to no threat.
02:46If that had been the only issue, then maybe it could have been fixed down the line.
02:58But the game's focus on having the marines fight against human enemies for half of the already short campaign,
03:04paired with its deceptive marketing, left many feeling like they had the rug pulled out from under them.
03:09While more recent releases involving Galaxy's ultimate badasses have hit their own stumbling blocks,
03:14none have fallen as short as Colonial Marines.
03:18Number 7. Ride to Hell Retribution
03:27Underbaked, juvenile, and unimpressive across the board, Ride to Hell is at best a slog to work through,
03:41and at worst, an exercise in trying to headbutt your screen.
03:44The motorcycle, melee, and gunplay range from boring to broken at the drop of a hat,
03:49which is something of a death sentence when you present your game as a gritty biker adventure
03:54with a major emphasis on blasting through hordes of enemies.
03:57Then there's the sex scenes, which are so poorly presented both graphically and narratively
04:10that we'd honestly prefer a quick fade to black.
04:15Number 6. Concord
04:26You almost have to feel sorry for Concord by this point.
04:29A hero shooter with no discernible originality during a time where the genre couldn't be more saturated.
04:35Alas, generic gameplay, a roster of uninspired characters, and a weak attempt at narrative via loading screen
04:42meant it had no hope of matching blows with the big boys.
04:57Could it have improved over time?
04:58We'll never know, since Sony pulled the plug two weeks later,
05:01leaving a crater of wasted talent, time, and money in its wake.
05:05Concord didn't even have a chance to burn bright.
05:08It just came and went without much of a whimper.
05:11Its legacy being that of a cautionary tale in the gaming scene.
05:23Number 5. Anthem
05:26Between the likes of Mass Effect Andromeda and Dragon Age The Veil Guard,
05:39many are in agreement that this is BioWare's lowest point.
05:43The shadow of this sci-fi looter shooter looms large over this company, and for all the wrong reasons.
05:49Development was plagued by a constant back and forth, to the extent that the final product,
05:53despite spending an arduous amount of time stuck in limbo, spent very little actually being fine-tuned.
05:59Being able to fly around in a mech suit can only do so much to make up for broken gear, pathetic attempts at padding out the runtime, and an uninspired story well below BioWare's standards.
06:17It's no surprise that, even after countless promises in regards to improvements, patches and roadmaps, Anthem is being shut down at the start of next year.
06:27Number 4. Superman 64
06:39It may not suffer from gross microtransactions or any other of gaming's modern-day sins, but even decades on, few games can be argued to be more of a broken mess than this.
06:57The Man of Steel's legendary outing on the N64 is reveled for cumbersome controls, boring gameplay, atrocious graphics, and so many quality-of-life issues that it feels like you're battling the game every step of the way.
07:10There are countless 90s kids out there who have never seen what lies beyond the terror that's trying to successfully fly Superman through those damn rings.
07:19Number 3. Skull Island Rise of Kong
07:28Game Mill Entertainment is synonymous with licensed video games of abysmal quality, and atop that craptastic mountain, you have Kong.
07:45It's a struggle to find one redeeming quality in this mess.
07:48It's of such poor quality, from its visuals to its level design to its combat, that the only mercy afforded is that you can often just sprint past enemies to push on through the next low-res stage.
07:59So little effort was put into this that some of the cutscenes even featured JPEGs.
08:04This would have been unacceptable 20 years ago, and yet Game Mill keeps on cranking this slop out.
08:09Number 2. The Lord of the Rings Gollum
08:14As a platformer, this game fails. As a standalone story set in Tolkien's world, this game fails. As a mindless waste of time, this game fails. Gollum is a miracle in the worst ways possible.
08:37Everything it sets out to do, it failed at. From the gameplay to the graphics to trying to give additional backstory to one of the most famous creatures in all of Middle-earth.
08:52Even the cheapest cash-grab Lord of the Rings game from back in the day has more dignity than this. It's hard to decide if it's more of a mess in the technical department or in how it fumbles its own crummy story.
09:03Nobody was asking for a game that features Gollum breeding birds, acting as Mordor's janitor, or choking out a blind elf girl that he had been creepily crushing on.

09:341. Mind's Eye
09:46Boy, talk about a major misfire. This so-called GTA killer dropped the ball so hard that it's become one of gaming's biggest punching bags, and it's got no one to blame but itself.
09:58Whatever fun or intrigue may have stemmed from a story involving robotics and corporate corruption was brushed away due to how overwhelmingly terrible the rest of the game was.
10:15Bugs and glitches galore, countless crashes, absurd restrictions that would lead you to failing missions should you stray even a little off the beaten path, boring gunplay, and a fetched quest framework.
10:26Put it all together and you have a contender fighting for their place in gaming's shittiest pantheon.
10:31Ah! Just shoot it! Maybe, maybe shoot it, please!
