A man disrupted Friday's 9 a.m. Holy Mass at St. Peter's Basilica when he urinated on the Altar of Confession in front of hundreds of people. The Altar of Confession is considered one of the most sacred altars in Vatican City and one of the holiest spaces in Catholicism. In April, Pope Francis was laid on the Alter of Confession for public viewing before his funeral. As of October 12, it remains unclear whether the man was arrested as a result of the incident. The basilica is yet to release an official statement about the situation.
